Deano must really like the KX! Turned down a spot with Red Bull KTM......not sure if that was a good move or not?
did Cooper Carlisle re sign with Team Nami?
Weston Peick is still looking for some help if someone is interested in a solid top 10 SX and MX rider ( better with the right equipment) who is capable of completing a complete series w/o injuries....tired of hiring riders who cant stay healthy for more than a month with six month layoff to recoup from injuries.....give Weston a call!!!!
KTM needs to plant their flag on Mt. Tomac and snag him for next year at all costs. Leave the euros in Asia and race 'Merica with 'Mericans. That may sound nationalistic, because it is. Tomac/Dungey will be a potent ticket, and without drama queens.
Friese in AX is going to be like Bowers was a handful of years ago.....multiplied by a bajillion. Stock up on plastic and header pipes, boys, you're about to get Friese'd.
Deano wants to be the Big Dog -- not second fiddle to Dungey. I agree that Tomac will be a serious threat and a great addition to any team but just seems to like a Honda guy and can't imagine him on another brand.
He'll be takeover for Windham when he finally gives up on his -- what will now be 5-6 place at best finishes or Canard crashes himself out for good.
Windham's been great for the sport-- but his time as a contender has passed.
nicoletti rips sx
@ Over the Bars- I agree, Tomac would be a great replacement for Windham. Kevin is to retire in 2014, so lets see who pulls out the big wallet.
What about TEDESCO?
TEDESCO and Rattray are good riders without a ride.
Where is Josh Hansen going, he's such a good rider with a little help and focus he can do really good
What about Decotis? I know he has been hurt and had a ride with Geico Honda before he got hurt last year. I heard he might be going the privateer route on a Honda. Kid is fast, just needs to stay healthy. Any chance of him catching a ride soon or are there too many good free agent riders out there for him to catch hold?
Like Highheat 1919 Im wondering about Jimmy Decotis. Kid absolutely RIPS IT! Question is if he can stay healthy?
@BigUglyManiac
Non American bike manufacturers should pull the plug on America then all the mighty american riders can ride Harleys ... why do you think they hire non Americans .... and I heard Bagget after the MXoN and now I know who the drama queen is. You stay in America do not look beyond your back yard ... the world is not only America
I like your thinking BigUglyManiac. If they can co-exist under the same awning, it ought to be a formidable team. It seems to me that E.T. & RD have different enough training regimines that they could go their seperate ways during the week and come together amicably for the weekend........going to be tough competing for DeCoster's love with Dungey in the same room though....
@ Over_the_Bars, I find it hard to believe Wilson thinks he commands that much horsepower among his peers with as little SX success as he's had. Besides, anybody that turns down an offer from DeCoster has got to be soft in the head. Maybe he's just really looking forward to having Haggis for breakfast / lunch / dinner over at Team Wardy.
@DAVEN83, I don't know how you can say that he will stay healthy all year like that. Nothing against Weston, as he's a good rider, but accidents happen to everyone and if you race long enough, no matter who you are, you're gonna get hurt. That just sounds like the wrong approach. One sales pitch not used by the actual agents. IMO And Over_The_Bars, 5th or 6th these days, against this bunch of riders would be impressive for a much younger rider, let alone the veteran. Not to mention John Dowd and his ability to earn enough points each year to keep his number. If they wanna line up, I wanna watch 'em!
@ tommx, there was a time that Harley was looking to buy KTM. That deal could still happen, except the buyer & seller will have changed.
How does Brett Metcalf not have a ride? RCH should sign him fulltime before they hire Josh Hill.
While we don't know if the KTM offer was turned down for financial reasons or he just doesn't like the bikes I also think it was a poor decision. There is a difference between factory teams, especially one with DeCoster, and privateer teams. He walked away from a situation most riders would love to have. He would have had the support of the best team manager around and it would have made him a better rider for whatever he wants to do down the road.
Snopro, hill is already confirmed as the 2nd rider for rch. News came out like 4 days ago, racerx just does a bad job up updating.
Metcalf is rumored to go to chapparal Honda, hopefully he gets a ride there because all the other teams are basically full
It is hard to believe riders like Metcalfe and Rattray are still looking for rides for 2013! Both had some bad luck with injury in 2012 but both are solid riders.
Regarding Wilson and KTM....I think DW is going to turn out to be a primadonna a la Josh Grant. He acts like a jackwad in most interviews, not to mention his (possibly drunken) Twitter abuse of Tomac. He definitely seems to lack some professionalism. I'm actually surprised that DeCoster would want to take Wilson, I would not see that relationship working out well.
Someone needs to seriously Sign Derek Anderson!!!!! That guy rips!
Still doesn't make sense why Mitch hired Martin "Dirt Sample" Davalos
Does anyone know if Nick Wey is racing 2013?
I like motorcross
Yoshimura Suzuki : James Stewart - Confirmed
"...Suzuki will go with a one-rider team for 2013"
hopefully their one-rider shows up for more than one-race this year
lets give KTM a few more years they arent there yet just because dungey won some races on it, he could have won races on a husky. You guys forget that at times this summer that dungeys "factory" bike looked worse than alessi's privateer bike when it comes to handling and how do any of yall know how much kawasaki is or is not contributing to JWR? especially now that H&H switched to suzuki and is receiving full factory support
Why would anyone want Tedesco? Really when is the last time he was a contender? Metcalfe is a solid top ten guy, but he will never win you a title. It's about time some of the older non contenders step back out of the limelight. There's guys like Derek Anderson and Cole Thompson, Decotis and Nicoletti that deserve a shot way more than them. I totally agree that signing Davalos is a waste for everyone involved, I think Mitch was getting a little desperate when it came to signing guys for 2013. I think we'll see that after a few rounds and some solid top 20 finishes by Davalos.
@bucky394 -- i agree that 5-6 for windham is still impressive but my impressions of the Geico Honda squad is that 5-6 at best is not what that squad is striving for. They will want to compete for title and Tomac gives them a better shot at that.
Has anyone seen or heard from Austin Stroupe?
What about Bobby Kiniry!?
I see by reading the Frid'Eh update he has something going on in Canada with Yamaha... but come on... the Camo Cowboy EARNED himself another 450cc ride in SX or USA MX!
I have a feeling Windham will be more like a 8-10 rider.I would like KTM and a KTM support team to bring in Pourcel and Townely. At least for the outdoors.
Now that I think about it.I bet Windham will have a hard time getting into the top ten.At until the injurys start. He's like 72 years old now in MX years. He needs to be down under with Chad if he wants a good year in 2013.
I love KTM guy with his Tomac jersey all ready to print up....that Honda team and those factorys bikes still have some clout come contract time......i wouldn't print em up just yet...who knows...maybe Yamaha will hire some dirt bike guys ...fire the roadrace designers and fix ole whirlwinds nasty buck and enter the fray once again..its year 4 ..a good ones on the way....@F'inweiner..RV like always (and Bam)...and I'm gettin tired of sticking up for Havoc....this year he needs to put up AND shut up...cool it with the Prince style press releases and the BS....just get on my favorite bike and just ride the f'in thing and finish some races and maybe a series...go all 259 on it..I believe he is still capable of racing for the win on any night........... I also wanna see a Stroupe and Jlaw deathmatch half time at the MEC...winner gets a bag of something...! Rattray needs a good ride....Davalos over Rattray...REALLY?????...not seein it....
ktm and you guys can dream on the only way tomac leaves honda is if they really try and screw him which they wont he's got two spots that should come available next year either windham's or canards either way he will be on a crf450 this summer
if i was rc i would have gone for tickle and metcalfe or rattray
Man Suzuki are game going with one rider in JS7. Whens the last time he completed a full season? in before he crashes out and they have to bring in a 10-15 place rider.
@shv11 RC did go for Tickle. He should of got Rattray.
suzuki could only afford stewart. surprised hanson is still not on H&H because he was solid for them last year in sx and had better results than tickle in sx. or even rattray would b ok on h&h imo!! sad to not c jimmy d on a team.
@sec114 yep thats the same way JGR and stewart shit on davi milsaps last year from what i heard he took a huge pay cut so they could pay stewart i was so happy to see him leave JGR sold out last year and look were that got them wernt they the same team who said they "would never buy a champion but build one" ?
BigUglyManiac: I've been thinking and hoping the same thing. What a classy team that would be. Decoster likes self motivated, no nonsense riders. He has no use for drama queens. I think RD and ET would be an ideal match and could be running 1, 2 (you pick the order of the two) in many championships to come. They will have to pay him big money for sure but, like Dungey, he will give them a solid return on investment.
I have always pulled for DW but, turning down a chance to ride for The Man is just the latest in a string of mistakes I think he is making.
Martin DAvalos______________- the guy is exactly what mitch wants. he's got some experience. he's blazing fast and has been slowly gaining consistancy. just like jake weimer or Hot sauce. Having the ability to get the fastest lap times showes that he has the speed, he just needs to maintain. If martin can run the same lap time on lap 15 as he can on lap 2 watch out, he will be top 3 in the championship. being on the best team, best bike... martin's gonna kill it. watch him win supercrosses. hope he dominates. same as deano
cant understand why chapparal and RCH&H wont just sign metty or rattray already. Kyle regal burned too many bridges i guess. cant imagine him getting a good ride again.
Ktm is gonna have a hard time signing another top guy because they are gonna try and stick them on the 350, and I dont give a rats ass what the 350 did at lomel this aint lomel those 2 would have probablty won on 125's but over here in america were theres even playing fields you cant give up 100 cc's while the 350 could win races it would take a RC type rider to win a championship on it and still it goes back to the dominant rider not the bike
@RCRDD . why was deano turning down the ktm ride a mistake? maybe he got the same paycheck and wants to be on a better bike? I dont think its a mistake at all. You know with Dean on the JWR team they are getting factory support. they're going to give dean what ever he wants otherwise he probably would have went to ktm
dean may want to just chill and run his own program like reed who he moved out to florida to train with he just got off of mitch's team which i hear is a pretty tight ship I imagine decosters is no different, but you guys gotta remember that the it was just one year agao when nobody would touch the ktm and so dungey signed which everyone thought to be a huge mistake, but so dungey wins a championship and I hate to be that guy but lets face it not because dungey but because the bike setupp if everyone was there dungey would not have won the title dungey was crashing riding by himself If you think he looks better on the ktm than he did on his susuki than Illl tell ya you need glasses.......dungey and decoster will get that bike to the same level as the rest but they arent finished yet so slow down on the ktm bandwagon dungey beat alessi on a privateer suzuki and usa got their asses handed to them by a pair of 350's at the two guys training facility that hardly means that villopoto or reed should start looking to get on ktm
my guess is that hill got a ride over metty and rattray because hill probably came at a real cheap price either them two are pricing themselves right out of the market or what the teams have left to pay they have more respect than to even offer it to one of them because yes their are a few guys who have rides over a few who dont and it does seem a little odd
Hard to believe that everyone passed on Phil Nicoletti. He had some bad luck due to poor bike prep this past season, but he rode in the top ten much of the time. Decoster should hire him to team with Dungey.
I think nicolletti with good equipment can be a top 7 guy 450 class. Is hill leg ok? hill must be riding just for equipment and bike , no salary.
The 450 lineup for A1 is going to be ridiculous. Potential for best season ever.
Hello carlsbad
I would not buy KTM ... small Manufacturer ... I would hire those people who brought KTM from near bankruptcy to where they are now, because I think this is the real achievement in a world economic crises.
Tony Cairoli made the 350 work, RD and deCoster will do it with the 450 in SX
JDR KTM have signed Aussie young gun Josh Cachia
@ tommx, I doubt Harley will be buying anything soon. They've threatened to leave Milwaukee because of labor disputes and bad economy. They should find a way to shed themselves of any labor unions so they can compete in the new economy's market.
@ jeramey, Whether Dungey was faster / better / whatever on that 'Zook, the time expired on the window of happiness over there. He made a (brilliant) decision to leave the foreclosure sale that is U.S. Suzuki and go with his mentor and a team / company that will move mountains to become the best in class in the U.S. SX / MX divisions.....the bike was never the issue with Dungey's departure. I don't think there's anybody that would say the bike was bad. Money was a prime motivator for Dungey's decision, not just his paycheck, but funds to continue a top-tier team that could compete at the highest levels. Factory Suzuki doesn't fit that description anymore.
As for Tomac, KTM has the best chance at him. I would wager dollars he won't even answer Yamaha's call, Kawasaki is between RV & Adam what's-his-name, Suzuki is broke (financially & team structure) and Honda already has Barcia. Maybe he would take a GEICO 450 deal to stay red (and a good enviroment he's already comfortable in) but, KTM will bring Red Bull-level money and the stability that is a DeCoster-led team. In addition, by leaving GEICO, he'll get to sign all new endorsements for gear from head to toe.
The other teams (McBrooks, Wardy's team, RCH, etc) don't have a big enough sponsor to land a contract the size of the one Tomac will be signing.
@Frankenstorm- Nothin' new. Just patiently waiting for the SX season to start! And Over_The_Bars- I hear ya. But Kdub is a fan favorite still, and I think if nothing else, they keep him around for PR purposes. He still has a little left. And who will take his place with the practice transfer jumps?
Mortal Combat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.
bucky394 no offense taken.....i've been helping Weston out for a few years now and u r right anyone can get hurt at any time but as history has shown the last few years Weston has stayed healthy (built like a linebacker) and many, many riders that shall remain nameless though slightly faster cant keep it together for more than a few weeks w/o injury than 3 months off to heal....this doesnt not equate to good results at the end of the year just a few good races (but they always get a ride though it may be a new one every year)...weston finished 15th overall in SX this year with little to no help, didnt even race A1,didnt make the main once by getting screwed on a photo finish w/gavin faith, got better every race (finished as high as 7th)....what does a guy have to do to prove himself? Do you know what it takes it finish in the top 20 against the best guys in the world?
@OrganDoner - Davalos could win the Lites title indoors and out, and I will still be pissed that he got a PC ride this year. Why? Because he's had too many chances already and he's never won a points race and his best season standings are 8th in SX Lites and 9th in MX 250. That's pathetic for a guy who's had 9 years to prove himself.
@DAVEN83 I agree Peick deserves a ride. From what I understand he went to Washougal and got 9th on a bike he bought a short time earlier. I could name alot of riders with significant support that couldn't pull that off. He would be a good fit for SX with RCH.
@DaveN83 It is cool that you are able to help Weston out. I was fortunate enough to do be able to do some stuff to Jeremy Martins' van recently. Nothing major, but it's a good feeling to know you can help out. To me, that's just how the moto world is. People helpin' people out.Too bad the whole world doesn't work that way...
Too bad that Munn didn't get the factory KTM support as rumored. I wonder if they'll sign both Marshall and Decotis for 2013 or go another route.
would like to thank RacerX iLL for the communication. Thanks for keeping us informed.
