Could lead to some cool jump combinations. Much more of a flowing track (it seems) than A1. Can't wait to go!

Hmmm, looks like a track JS7 will love. Gotta be a quad in there somewhere.

Right back to the cookie cutter supewrcross tracks again. Its why I liked the track at A1, it was something different.. this is just another rythum section track like always. Boring.

I agree bd. I liked A1 too. This one looks boring - just another jump contest. A track made for JS.. I’ll record it.

@bd200 - A1 is the perfect example of why they DON'T change it up. The riders HATED it. Don't believe me? Ask any rider on twitter. At least its not Nascar where every track is a circle.

Looks great !! Nothing wrong with a regular, just keep the different and challenging stuff coming. This looks fast and different jump combos and lines available.

Cookie Cutter is the definition of a supercross track. Thats why we all love supercross. The track at A1 was a joke. What happened to letting the former pro riders designing tracks like in 2009. Larocco, Carmichael, and Pastrana built great tracks in 2009!!!!! Maybe Feld needs a new track designer/builder?

All the JS7 haters out there, do you really want to see Poto runaway with this? JS7 makes the races fun to watch. He is the only one who does stuff on the track no one else does. I am begining to think the changeJGR and to stay with Yamaha was not the best decision for JS7.

yeah no riders really liked Al.....all the jumps were lousy and pointless.....that one section you stepped on then stepped off and the single you were supposed to step off onto was so far away youd just slam into it.....the tracks need more rythem.....more flow....high speed....split corners/ 90 degree turns...etc.....look at the monster energy cup race and think of the vegas race at the end of the year...those 2 tracks in a combo would be the ultimate track

Thank god for bringing back a real track! No more of that follow the leader garbage. Besides A1 was not a skilled track, are you kidding me? I mean to a bunch of us and the riders, it looked like a big AX track! Bring on the big boys now!

Not that much of a cookie cutter, Looks long at least. I got sick of the 49sec laps last year. I think one track was low 40's even. This track looks pretty good I think. I just can't wait!!

Profile Picture
Retardcross wrote: 4:05pm January 11, 2012

mxguy215........They may not have liked it, but if there is one thing it wasn't that's one lined. There were many come from behind rides Saturday night and tons of passing, maybe watch the race?

Profile Picture
bd200 wrote: 4:41pm January 11, 2012

@smee113, I disagree. The only riders who hated it were the top ones who DIDNT win. RV1 said it was fine. I think they didnt like it because it was different, and hard. They like the same cookie cutter crap because its easy to get all the sections down, and too me that is boring. Make it different and not the same crap every week.

@Retardcross, exactly, I saw a few riders make up time and there was more passing too, multiple lines. It was great to watch.

Yeah this should please the less skilled and give them a chance to keep RV in sight while keeping them up on two wheels. I am looking forward to Daytona and some pro tracks.

In my opinion, the A1 track wasn't good at all. Different, yes. Good, no. Regardless of whether the riders liked it (as long as the tracks are safe, the opinion of the paying public is more important) it didn't make for great racing. There were 10 different obstacles that needed to be rolled or cased to get over. This slowed the pace down and didn't push the bikes or riders to their limits.

I stopped by Chase field today to see the progress of the track, it looked good and fast, I liked the setup but will have to wait and see for sure on Saturday afternoon. I'm guessing top guys will be laying down avg lap times of around 52-53 seconds on this track

Profile Picture
factory1 wrote: 7:20pm January 11, 2012

the reason all the tracks are 1 lined is because all the turns are the same , no inside lines just follow the leader around the berm ! OPEN UP THE 180* TURNS and create an inside option !

Profile Picture
gbs417 wrote: 7:26pm January 11, 2012

A1 wasn't awful to watch, but the sections with singles to flat landings and that stupid wall were annoying. This is pro SX, the pace should go uninterrupted unless its to slow for a corner or an on-off table section.

Im making the trip out to PHX and can't wait!

Profile Picture
bd200 wrote: 8:19pm January 11, 2012

Why shouldnt the pace be interrupted?? Why does it have to be an all out blitz?? I like the idea that the obstacles cant be just rythumed over and gone.. I also liked the idea of one minute lap times. The fast tracks take about 15 minutes to do 20 laps then its over. At least we got a 20 minute main, that was nice. And the track was safe for ALL the riders. We have lost or injured enough guys in the past just for a triple or quad jump, it sucks.

groundy056 wrote: 8:47pm January 11, 2012

Love the look of this track. Lots of 180's. Looks like lots of jump options too. Won't look so awkward this weekend haha

The riders didn't like A1 cause they weren't prepared for a track like that. Cookie cutter tracks are what they test for and they didn't get one. Single jumps and the wall are awesome, the faster you can get over it and the more momentum you keep, the better you can do, it makes for good racing. Jumping the same ol rythme sections and triples is boring, more corners, sweeping turns, and singles might slow it down, but it makes for great racing.

Fact: the only racers that complain about one lined tracks is when they are roughly the same speed as the guy in front of them and fail to attempt agressvie passes.

my point is RV could start dead last on a one lined track and probably still win. If your faster than the guy in front of guy you will find a way around them

GBO91 wrote: 9:06am January 12, 2012

I wouldn't call this 'cookie cutter', but it seems to be a return to a more traditional layout. Having that speed section following the sand leading toward the finish could result in some serious last turn pass attempts!

@bd200 all your statements on here are awesome and make total sense. I loved A1 and hope there is more tracks like that to come this year.

PHX looks like a cool track, always is..

I am all for safe tracks, longer tracks and tracks that "switch things up"....However, when you have a track that is too easy, there is nothing seperating these guys and it becomes a little boring....I was expecting more slam passes in the slow turns the other night.... Watching A1....nobody else other than RV and JS7 came through the pack....RV in the heat race and James in both his heat and the main....So, as always those two can make it happen when needed....RV didnt make comments about the track, because he didnt have too...but he was not a fan of it either....had he got 3rd im sure he would have made note...but when you win a race, you look lame complaining about anything, so he avoided it...good move!

I think the track design should be judged on the race it produces -

Therefore A1 was a great track.

Most of you on here couldn't ride supercross, cookie cutter or otherwise - no hatred here gents just the truth.

Just be thankful we live in a time where we have such easy access to the sport we love

@KilloMoto

Brayton, Weimer and tomac ring a bell...as far as coming through the pack goes.

A1 was arenacross. There was nothing on it to separate the big boys from the also-rans. There was nothing great about it that could produce a "great" race. Everyone just fell in line and finished. Phx looks a LOT better, and hopefully it will produce a better race.

Profile Picture
Retardcross wrote: 7:08pm January 12, 2012

Holy crap people did we all watch the same race? There were TONS of passes and multiple areas with multiple lines. Lots of guys made runs through the pack too. It wasn't one lined at all.

Profile Picture
JV212 wrote: 2:22pm January 13, 2012

I feel like every race is a good race... Slow speed manuvering is also very technical especially in regards to passing. I don't see how some people don't understand that... Go try it!! A variety of tracks also is a better determination of who is the best overall rider. I would not want to see the same track design every weekend.

Phoenix looks pretty awesome!! I feel fortunate to go, can't wait for tomorrow!! See you guys @ the party in the pits!!
