Metcalfe to Race Canadian Nats
Friday, March 15, 2013 | 12:45 PMJust got official word today on a rumor we've heard about for some time. Brett Metcalfe has come to terms with Leading Edge Kawisaki to ride the Canadian Nationals this summer. We wish Metty good luck up there, and we'll follow up with more info as it comes in.
Metcalfe has been out of racing since a crash last summer left him with a variety of injuries, most seriously a broken wrist.

Hopefully he goes back to the states the year after but, I doubt it!
Must be a shortage of rides here since most are still healthy. Dudes got some serious talent.I wish him the best!
If Matt Georke can dominate up there, WTF is Metcalfe gonna do to them Canooks?
Its a shame I guess he doesnt want o wait till someone gets hurt to fill it..We wish him well
He is going to be the Ricky Carmihcael of Canadian Nationals...
Hahaha, Bro you hit the nail on the head there.
Either way go Metcalfe! He truely seems like one hard working dude that just loves to race, and you have to respect that.
Seems like a ringer being bought in .... Facciotti will have his plate full and need to be healthy to compete.
A US National winner just 2 years ago should do pretty well up there. I would have to think any salary is way less than what he would get in the US. Even in a stacked field, if he could get back to where he was before his crash, he's at least a solid top 10 guy. Hope he finds his way back here somehow.
Being from Australia, he'll probably learn to speak Canadian pretty quickly. Australia, Canada, and So Cal will make for an interesting accent.
Solid top 10 in the US Nationals that is
Eventually they will get sick of non-Canadian racers winning every year and they will make it the all-Canada nationals, just like they did in Japan. Metcalfe should not lose a moto unless its a mechanial DNF. This is actually quite shocking to me that he cant get a better ride in the States than what he's getting up there. To go from Factory Suzuki to this is hard to believe.
I thought he had already signed with Valli Motorsports to ride the outdoors?
i guess his body isnt what it used to be after that crash thats why he wont get ride in the states
All the Canucks just realized they'll probably be racing for second place, barring a Metcalfe crash. Metty's fast enough to win in the US and always one of the fittest guys out there.
MX bob most people in Canada speek english ever well.
The tracks up there are not the same as here, little tighter. He should do well but not sure I would bet on a sweep!!
No offense to the Canadian Nats, but can't believe he can't get a ride here. Healthy, he is a 5-7 guy outdoors easy. And RCH's #75 bike will probably be sitting idle or right around 20th every weekend. Real shame! Good luck Metty!
While his talent will be missed in the Great Outdoors, it is a really good move for him. After such a long layoff, racing in Canada will help get him back up speed and help his confidence, as he will be battling for wins rather than top 10's. Also, that should help his value rise, when he looks for a ride next year in the U.S., especially if he can get the title up there! Good Luck Brett, Go be the Champ of he Great White North, EH!!
Metty is nowadays a family man...with that comes different choices.
Wish him all the luck and to stay healthy.
good guys like him are on short supply
@Jason Weigandt
HOW FRICKIN' LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND THIS SPORT TO MISSPELL KAWASAKI?
Just sayin'.
POOR. VERY POOR!
Eat a dick Lakerdouche!
@laker 23.. you obviously don't know much about anything when everyone knows jh75 is on supercross only contract with RCH and bt20 is the only rider on the team doing outdoors..
I am not trying to make anyone mad, but Metcalfe is not a top 5 guy here at all.. Not anymore.. RV Dungey Stewie, Reed, Tomac, Barcia , Canrd, Millsaps, Alessi, Weimer, and even Short can beat Metcalfe outdoors.. I always liked the guy, but he hasnt done anything in a long time, has had great rides and couldnt win... I'm not totally sure he will win everyhting in the Canadian Nats. either.. It matters who else goes up there too..
