Your Collection: 1989 CR 250
Sunday, February 17, 2013 | 11:40 AMThis weeks collection comes to us from Bill Petitt.
I would like to share my "collection." My 1989 CR 250. I built her to race the FLVMX series, here in Florida. And, yes, she sleeps in the tent with me !

I loved that bike. I was my first 250. Had CR 125's before that. That 250 was fast !
Beautiful bike!! I'd pay money to ride that on my local track. I'm curious, is that newer suspension?
Yeah, I had an 89 and thought it had standard forks, not USD. Mine wasn't even that clean in the early 90's though.
There was not any stinkin Honday 1989 CR250 that could beat my 88YZ250. Once in while a rare ocaison a 500 Kawie or a 500CR could get the holshot on me.
Nobody beat me on my 88 yz 250 the cr was great in 86-87 gold rims...I had both
@ Glock26 I will admit that the 86 250 honda was the best production bike ever made! I liked to cheat! I had an 85YZ with a 490 Rod and YZ 60 ignition AKA RJ replica that was the best bike I ever had! I had acess to some tedchology that was not normal and made a few more mods to it! It would have not pased AMA spec.
Nice ride!
Dig the tent,no motorhome
thats old school there.
Thats how we Still do it.
Pop a wheelie
@ Welker
I also had access to some goodies in the day so I know what you are talking about .. LOL
'88 was the last year for the 'conventional forks' Honda went with the USD forks in '89, they were horrible and the instant cure was to put the '88 forks back on. You could work with the '89 forks valving a bit but the main problem , I believe was the lack of flex. Very harsh feedback to the rider. I had a couple of '89 250's & a 500. Bill, nice to see you competing on that CR250R instead of it being on a stand just gathering dust.
That's one sweet machine! The 89 Hondas were some of the best looking bikes ever IMO
Thank you ! The forks are from a 1994. I am a "Yamaha" guy, so I did some swapping for a 1989 YZ 250. This Honda will always be special to me, as I worked on her every day, while I was recovering from surgery.
the 87 was my favorite to ride but I always loved how these looked ...nice bike...i bet with those forks it works great....
I had the 88' CR250 and it had a smooth electric powerband. I was only able to ride the 89' briefly when Honda had Rick Johnson come down to a track here in Phoenix and gave people a chance to ride the new 89's at the time. Rick was even fast on the CR80 when he rode that thing! But my favorite bike was the 1992 CR250! When I first rode that bike after I broke it in, the power wanted to yank my arms out of the sockets! I really enjoyed that bike. Should have gotten the 93' too but my next bike was the 97' CR and I didn't have that bike too long! My favorite bike was always a CR250 until Honda became disinterested in making the bike better. KTM is the only one that has really made the two-stroke evolve. Yamaha is still making the same 250 since 2006!
Great looking bike .. I bought my 1st new bike that year .. I went with the 89 RM 250 from SCR in norco...had it 2 years then went to a 91 yz250 built by Noleen to there team specs .. It was the only bike I have ever been scared of the power even over my 450s.. Great time of my life man ... Lived ate breathed it 24/7
Was my first dirt bike ever - no 80's no 125's...talk about diving into the deep end. Yes I crashed - yes it was often...
