Why is he featured in ESPN??? Why?? He hasnt won anything since 2009, his best finish since is 4th place.. So why him and not Dungey or RV, or even Reed.. He has been more succesful in the last 2 or 3 years.. Can anyone answer me that?? He gets more press than any other 10th place guy I have ever seen... (8th for now) Can somebody answer those questions, without acting like a Stewtard.. I'm just curious..

The ability to make fun of yourself is sometimes under-appreciated. In his defense, James is the only guy that could pull this off. I do agree the cop arresting the two hookers is getting close to a very inappropriate stereotypic reference.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if it's "because he's black" rather than anything else, like it was the last time ESPN featured JS7. It wouldn't hurt for someone else to get a feature too in ESPN or another major sports magazine. Nothing against JS7 for this image or feature, good for him, I'm more against ESPN than anything.

I am glad Stewart can have fun with something like this and not worry about what a few wound-tight SX/MX fans think. Worrying about how this affects the image of SX/MX is silly. And expecting Steward to act and behave like Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon is ridiculous. There have been more than a few NASCAR racers and other sports icons appear in full drag. Who effing cares?
Most of us here like Stewart just like we like all the other racers. We respect their talent and love watching them race. We understand that in a sport where injury is always lurking that it is extremely hard for a racer to stay on top.
It is sad that there are a handful on here that can't stand Stewart, nor accept him for who he is, and feel such a great need to denigrate him and anyone who doesn't share their vitriol -- usually injecting some completely unrelated and ignorant political bs.
For those who claim they used to like Stewart, but somehow his career path let them down -- I would say that those expectations were unreasonable.

JS7 is more than a rider. ALL of the top guys are - they're paid performers. They become a brand. RC, K-Dub, Reed, all the top guys do it. JS7 is the first uh, non-white guy to come in and kick-azz, and he's got a sense of humor about it. Why not make bank while you can? I'm surprised that so many people fault James for doing what other riders wish they could do. Publicity makes bank. Everyone in show business understands that. Ask the folks at Feld. I'm kinda in the middle on this one because while I have a sense of humor and love it that others do too, I HATE the bull$%# clowning in ANY sport! I can't stand NFL players doing their "routines" after a touchdown. When your team wins, do all the crazy stuff you want, otherwise, keep your head in the game/race!!! Same thing in the NBA I've noticed at times. Hopefully once hockey gets on the same level of the spotlight as these other sports, they'll refrain from acting like freaks. As far as this Stewart article, I see the Rick James spoof, and I think it's a little funny, he definitely pulls it off. I'm not offended by it however I get why it's a turnoff to some here. I mean, to be fair I can see guys like Reed, Windam, and maybe Barcia doing something funny in an article, or on a video clip, but James doing the Rick James thing? What can I say? I guess James/ESPN got the reaction they were hoping for. James Stewart is always leaning on that CRUTCH, which is why he is sorry as hell, useless as a slick on a supercross bike, and lazier than an entitlement-coddled public assistance homie. THAT ONE REASON is why he gets far more credit than he deserves, where others surpass him at every turn and get JACK SQUAT. He knows he's LIVING A LIE.

Has let them down by not winning or being like RC. James has had a tough run and tried with his heart, he had a bad string of luck but i dont see that as a reason to dislke him. If your racist thats fine, i find a little racism in myself but only towards people that deserve it. James doesnt deserve that treatment at all. He is successful, takes care of his family, pays taxes, is close with his parents, presents himself well, and is genuine. A model citizen, unlike jlaw..
I hope he finds his stride before his career is over, because he will be missed. James has something, called personality. Just like McGrath.. can you imagine the pressure James has on him? In think James Sr has done a fine job with his son

@Rick-- I will say this.. I do not have a "chip" about Stewart.. What I have a chip about is all the press he gets that more recent champions who have done more than him the last 3 years DO NOT get.. Those guys worked as harder and many alot harder than him and dont get it for some reason.. I have a chip on the fact that the last 3 weeks even Racer X keeps saying what Stewart can do or should be able to do to get wins and Dungey never got even a mention, and those things, that gets me ... But what gets me even worse is if I mention it or complain, then a racist like Preston calls me a racist and a hater or starts name calling and telling me to "get my head out of my as$" or something hatefull like that because I dont love his boy..That gets me also.. I have nothing personnal against Stewart, or could care less about his race.. I never liked the sprinkler dances and worm dances on the track.. I think that is classless and showboat. I loved him as a 125 kid just seeing how fast he could ring out the 125.. what happend to that smiling kid??.. But his so-called "fans" who get all Stewtard if you even question anything.. I cant stand..
I can answer that question pretty easy. James Stewart has TEN TIMES the personality of Dungey or Villipoto. He has star power.. he laughs, jokes, smiles, and has quite a successful history.
Would you want to try to sell a story to the public of someone that's drop dead boring?
Stewart has earned the publicity he receives.
Whens the last time Ryan Villipoto had a bunch of kids to his house riding his track? Whens the last time Ryan Villipoto gave lessons to young kids and spent time with them? Whens the last time Ryan Villipoto showed up to a Monster event outside of motocross for presence?
Stewart is accessible, and he has given back. Villipoto hasn't done SHI$ for the people. ever ever ever ever.
Dungey has a bike ride, that was cool.
@Rick-- I disagree, Rv and Dungey are just as interesting to me, what you said is just opinion..I like them because of their work ethic and dedication.. I dont think they are boring at all.. And RV hasnt had kids at his house riding?? What was Adam Ciancirullo doing there?? He trained and rode there all year, RV is dedicated and is training, not playing, it is his personality.. But its not boring to me,, He has the most demanding trainer in the business.. Stewart didnt have time for that stuff either, until he fired that same trainer.... He hasnt won since..

Stewart won the most without a trainer. He struggled when Aldon showed up, also I didn't mean professionals riding at his house. Stewart has kindergarten kids, high school kids, non racers, beginners, etc. stay at his house. He works with them, being helpful to the community.
I'm not going to argue with you guys. I think everyone is missing the point, Stewart is still the pinnacle of the sport whether we like it or not. His autograph lines are the longest, his salary is the highest, his sponsorships are the highest.
Maybe the Afro dreadlocks are slowing him down, who knows. He's still got speed, give the man a chance. RV tore his ACL, I didn't see him racing the outdoors

@therealmofo: I don't think people trying to defend Stewart should be so quick to point the racist finger either. Over the years on these boards, there have been some truly racist comments by some of the harshest Stewart-bashers. But that label shouldn't get tossed around lightly.

@ rick....All the giving back JS does started when he got sentenced to community service, starting with his Texas am nat. Just saying...regardless it's good to have a rider involved with the moto community whether it was started by force or not.

Very well put! The amount of angst among the "haters" is from constantly being bombarded with JS7 articles. If he wins....a article. if he loses....a article, if he is????.... a article. Many of his fans take it very personal and slam everyone that does not sing his praises. Its not that we (well, most of us) hate Stewart, it is just that we don't think the riders who deserve the credit get there dues, and he doesn't even have to try to get the press. Its a shame, cause the detractors as well as his supporters contribute to the media circus by making his threads the longest of any subject matter on this site.
@Rick--Stewart IS NOT the pinnacle of the sport, and his lines arent any longer than Dungeys or RV's. Actually the longest line I saw last time was K-Dubs..
And Stewart always had a trainer in the 450's, It was Johnny O'Mara..
And his salary isnt the highest, Actually Kawasaki signed RV1 when he came up instead of Stewart.. Kawasaki said they had a decision to make and went with RV instead.. I think it was a great choice..
@lastly.. RV's ACL was completely torn, Stewarts ACL has a tear, its not completely torn--he basically said that when he said it would be healed by the end of supercross.. TORN ACL's dont heal, they require surgery--like RV's did..
