Maybe James Stewart needs to become Irish, go kiss the Blarney stone and find some luck, as he just can't catch a break.. I wish him all the best and hope to see him get a start, along with his buddy Reed. It would seem like old times and be fun to watch, since they always put on a show when racing side by side..
Nike still makes the ugliest boots ever..
Atleast he's winning practice ! thats all that matters anyway , who cares about the main :)
String of bad luck so far this year thats for sure!!
Indeed Bill C..... James has in past made some bad moves and done some silly stuff...but this year, there is a different James on the track....calmer....more patient..but still fast obviously....Its funny, when the other guys top practice they are sure to make note of it....but then when James says it people dog the guy....anyway, Yeah if it wasnt for bad luck James would have none this year....Saturday was not his fault and true, he has caused his fair share of crashes and its a part of racing...bad luck, but a part of racing.....I saw on another post people saying he was blaming Reed for the crash......Stewart is just " telling it like it is"....just like Reed does " just telling it like it is " and he still gets crap while folks praise Reed for it.......Title is looking pretty bleak at this point...but you never know...2 DNF's in a row by Barcia....Hope to see JS7 on the box and eventually win a few...
There can only be 1 winner each night. James will get a few. Mcgrath came back when the world said he was done. So did RC. Anyone on any given night can win
One of the things I thought was funny, ironic or comical was how Reed is always complainig about the whoops on the tracks being too small or non-existent or his favorite saying about whoops "seperating the men from the boys"....whatever the case may be and then Saturday the obvious happened.... Its racing ....it happens and Reed isnt ammune to mistakes so I dont hold it against him....just thought it was funny considering some of the things he says...Surely Reed or other riders had to have said whoops coming out of turn one was a mistake on the track design....heck, I even read that on a comment thread when the track map was first released....wont see that again.
man Im really glad his knee is okay. we need him back at full steam
Stay with it James! You are a legend of the sport and any time you are on the track we all benifit.
Really think JS is doing all he can and if he got his knee fixed now he would not be able to race SX and MX, he he gets it done after sx he will only miss MX and be ready for sx next year. So if he can make it through SX this year and do well- Kuddos to him- I agree with his decision.
Jame's I've ragged on you before but want to say I really appreciate you staying in the series. We ALL enjoy, no love, watching you on the track be it practice, the heats, or main. Thanks for hanging in there, hoping for better things for you...see you in Houston.
Where is the story of the other Suzuki rider.....oh, what's his name.......You know.....THE POINTS LEADER!!!!!!!
Ob viously this video was made by Yoshimura Suzuki, and they will not post about Millsaps, they are embarrassed that they may have hired the wrong guy.. But Stewart has had a string of bad luck, alot of it is self-induced and some not.. But face it, he hasnt had the speed to win, or really compete for podium spots.. One fast lap doesnt do alot when you cant do it for 20 laps.. And he hasnt yet shown me that he can do it for 20 laps.. I dont really think he has the speed for an entire amin to run with Millsaps Dungey or Canard, and those 3 arent as fast as RV ... So he has some work ahead of him, if he is healthy enough anyway..
"Tracks"! You hit the nail on the head. James "no love" Stewart. Its both fitting and earned! He has done a ton of stupid s%^&t to deserve it, but now I think maybe he has seen the light. Will he continue to move towards it? Time will tell.
Maybe it's just me (just for a disclaimer, I have always liked RV and CR) but isn't RV starting to have a bit of a negative attitude? And CR, guy sure is complaining a lot lately. CR has never had the raw speed of RV and little Stewy, thats not his thing..consistancy is. I think he isn't seeing that part of reality anymore. I think that piece of reality left when he (riding over his head to stay ahead of RV) granaded over the finish line jump last year....not hate'n, just saying.
realmofo - We are seeing the same Stewart as before...he just about always has the fastest lap and if you watched the outdoors last year and SX as well, he certainly can run the same pace for 30+ minutes....This year thus far, he hasnt pushed it or even had a chance to "race" an entire main event...by choice or by luck..A1 and PHX he just road smart with the knee and didnt push it obviously....he wicked it up a bit at A2 but had the Grant issue....this week the obvious happened....Will he bust the fastest lap every lap in a main, certainly not....but I think he will do fine as far as running with the other guys...once he gets the chance....he ran 8 pretty consistent laps in the heat this week and just a few little ticks off RV's pace....
OK
therealmofo stoped by to drop a few jab's, I feel better now.
Oddly, I think James is winning over some of his most serious detractors just by toughing it out. Even though he's not winning, everyone knows how hard it is to hold your head up when things go really, really bad. And he's doing that so far. I hope he stays in it and fights through this bad run. Props to him for not quitting.
I'm glad he backed off the "Reed pile-drived me" comment, although I think it was perfectly understandable in the heat of the moment after the race -- because he did get pile-driven, it just wasn't intentional.
I hope Stewart's luck turns, and knee heals, and he gets into the mix at the front. RV is really hitting his stride now and I think JS is one of the few that has the potential to make a race of it.
Watching the Oakland crash replay, what really sucked was seeing RV, CR, JS, DM, and RD all right at the front heading into that 2nd corner. If they had all come out of it, it might have been quite a night.
And as someone else mentioned, I do notice RV getting a little jaded or something. He doesn't act like he's having fun. Hopefully he is, because he's riding awesome!
I cant wait for what the bad mouthers of Racer X have to say. Keep going James.
You guys need to orget about figuring out RV and what makes him tick...just appreciate him for what he's doing, he really is one of the all time greats and it isn't even his passion...it's his job! Just imagine if his heart was truly into it.....
After turning Pro eleven years ago, there was always so much hype on James by the media and everyone else to out perform everybody. As time goes by maybe that task isn't easy do when the young guns are coming up and the old guards are still trying to defend themselves. I am quilty too for bashing James, so hopefully he can continue to come out racing and entertain the fans untill he is ready to hang up the boots.
why do so many keep saying one fast lap doesn't matter...it matters alot....it is a reflection of your capability and speed...of course it won't win a moto ..but IT WILL help get a decent start hopefully and THAT looks to be very important now ..more than ever.... James is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't and now RV has the alpha dog mojo rollin Havocs roll will be basically as a spoiler from here on out...I wish him luck and a safe season...Go 'old paint'..its better when hes really in it...and once again if it was him blasting into Reed this site would be a THOUSAND pages long....I wish they would go back to the A1 style track which provided safer and BETTER racing.
I dont think theres any question RV is great at what he does-he just hates it.
I'm a CR fan and am pulling for JS to get a win this year. Guy has stones.
I don't know where James found this new attitude or if someone has given him some great advice, but it is great to see regardless. For James to say he'll be out there getting 8ths if that's all he can do because he loves it is..........just awesome. As one of the biggest James critics in the past, I have no problem saying that what I am seeing is all I ever wanted to see from him in terms of attitude and fan appreciation etc. Would be all the better if he can get to the front and start doing some battling.
RV doesnt "hate" his job.... I think he just wants to go race and have fun.....Its a job, so sure there a things he doesnt like about it...any of the riders will tell you that...but overall, he is one happy cat and enjoys what he is so fortuante to do....If I had to guess, I think the PR and answering the same stuff is what he "hates".... Plus I think he absolutley LOVES rubbing it in Team Alessis face.....If I was RV, Id make point to ride up behind Tony Alessi and just rev the F out of the motor any chance I got.....2013 outdoors is going to be great!!! Alessi wont be getting 2nd place all season that is for sure.....
A reason why Stewart hasn't quit yet would have to be his new gear line, he'll have too much invested to exit stage left. If he doesn't front then the gear slips into obscurity, not a good start in marketing your kit.
If he toughs it out and people admire his "tenacity" he'll sell some gear that way...
it's a good point @FRST, now that he's 'branded' himself there no option but to market... which means race... and we all benefit! He can do things on a bike that NOBODY can do, enjoy watchin his talent before it's all over... I doubt we'll see anyone like him for about another 50 years.
I think a dose of humility does everyone good. He has a job to do and is not the primadonna that he once was due to his difficulties the last couple of years. I believe he could write his own ticket when he was on top, now he is struggling to break the top 5 and I am sure his bosses are grilling him. That tends to change someones outlook on things. I truly wish him well, but even when he is doing bad he gets more media than the people who deserve it. Thats why he gets so much hatred on these boards. He has had more feature articles than the top 2 guys in the series right now, how is that fair? DM doesn't even get a honorable mention these days and he is still the points leader, going into round 5 of the cali SX series!
Who cares if someone "wishes him well" or thinks he was a prima donna. What's wrong with just enjoying his poetry in motion? MIke Tyson bit dudes and raped chicks but nobody disputes the talent and impact he had on his sport. James Stewart can do WTF he wants, we should just be thankful to see him on a bike every now and again!
TC
You have reminded me to stop and smell the bean oil.
You are right that we are lucky to see it at all. Count your blessings because any one of these riders could ride their last race on any Saturday.
As for RV, he doesn't have a bad attitude, just a realistic one. He is starting to realize that his life is literaly on the gate every time he lines up, and maybe he thinks now and again about how he would rather not spend all that he has earned from a wheelchair.
I think for me, a rider can talk smack, take others out, crash a lot, go good or do bad in races and there is one common element; you are at least getting to watch him ride. When a rider quits a series, that's it. It's like a huge stiff arm in the face cause they are gone. Jame's hanging in (an if you need to go at some point that's okay too) means a lot to me as a fan. Thanks again.
I agree with trip nobody has as many eyes watching as James if the top guys were as well known they would get more press. Look at tiger woods he's made some mistakes and he's not playin like he used to but he's still a highly watched guy no matter what place he's in
Must have been tearing up some groupie pie..... looks like he got herpes.
I'd like to see Mike Webb with some Stewy curls !!
All the top guys come in to after the title.......and even though that is nearly impossible at this point, it is still important as hell to go out and race like you are going after it, James!! We all want to see if you can still get up there and mix it up at the front, and if you can do that it will still mean just as much to you as a racer.......even without a title at the end of the year!! Don't let it get ya down man......get after it!!
Glad to hear Stewie isn't done just yet -- his flow and riding style is just awesome to watch.
@Trip
You need to lay off the shrooms.....or the spanish fly. Nicest post I have ever wrote about Stewie and I still got bashed. Sorry to call out your has been BFF.
Note to Big James....if the boys have some time off.....you could take them on a family vacation. a couple of 2 strokers....in the back of the garage some where?...must be a KX 125 or two in there...and when is the last time you showed the boys how it should be done? Brrrrrrraap!
Isn't it about time James started collecting some Obama bucks?
HEART SON!!! KEEP PUSHING ...
people love talking about js love him or hate him keeps people interested in the sport
Wow. These are the lamest replies I have read in quite some time. Did the majority of the posters just have a double date with JS7 and a couple of his obscene groupies? Why all the fawning over this spoiled little boy? It seems that nobody can recall his arrogance towards his fellow competitors, or the extraordinary danger that he poses when he chooses to hang it out over the edge just a bit too much. Does ANYBODY remember that it was the exemplary sportsmanship and generosity of THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME Ricky Carmichael that gave any validity to JS7 as a racer? RC always seemed to speak well of JS7 in podium interviews and so forth. How did JS7 treat his fellow racers? Taunts and hidden innuendo? Garbage. It is obvious his handlers have taught him how to interview. Why is so much attention given to Big James? I don' t recall so much given to Big Rick, and I think I'd rather hang out with a guy who built and had, his own life. Remember how Big Rick wouldn't really accept the HD bike RC bought for him as a thank you for the dad selling his bike years ago? Funny...isn't that a garage full of classic muscle cars that Big James bought for himself on Bubbas World? Trash. JS7 retires by 2014, and hopefully goes off to waste all sorts of money and time. Arguably THE most naturally talented rider the sport has ever seen, and that's it. Class and respect, a lot of the true great champions have it, JS7 never will.
