James Stewart - Torn ACL
Comment: Yesterday James Stewart confirmed to Racer X Films at the Anaheim 2 press conference that an MRI earlier this week revealed that he has a torn ACL. Stewart said he has been riding cautiously because the extent of the injury was unknown, but now that the extent of the injury is known, he will begin riding more aggressively. Again, Stewart will continue to race despite the ACL injury.

Alex Martin – Broken Wrist
Comment: Martin broke his wrist while training at ClubMX in December. He is scheduled to have the pins removed this week and hopes to be back in the bike within two weeks. To see a video of the crash, go here.

Blake Baggett – Broken Hand and Wrist
Comment: Baggett injured his hand in a first-turn pileup at A1 and is undergoing surgery on Friday. Whether or not he will return before the season ends remains uncertain.

Zach Osborne – Sore Shoulder
Comment: Osborne hurt his shoulder in practice at Phoenix. Thanks to a few shots administered to his shoulder, he was able to race in the night show. Although still sore, Osborne is expected to line up this Saturday at A2.

Josh Hill – Mild Concussion and Hand Injury
Comment: The team hopes to have Hill back next week after being sidelined after a big crash in practice at A1.

Darryn Durham - Torn Achilles Tendon
Comment: Durham has resumed riding and will begin testing for supercross next week.

Trevor Ivey –  Collarbone
Comment: Ivey broke his collarbone in practice at Phoenix. He plans to have it plated and as of now, there is no timetable for his return.

Vann Martin –  Broken Wrist
Comment: Vann Martin suffered a broken wrist in December and hopes to be healed in time to contest the Eastern Regional 250SX series. Martin had his cast removed yesterday and should be back on the bike soon.

Nico Izzi – Torn ACL

Michael Byrne – Lateral Tibial Plateau Fracture
Comment: Byrne injured himself at Unadilla and is looking at at least four additional weeks before returning to action.

Nick Wey – Three Fractured Vertebrae, Dislocated Hip and Broken Ribs
Comment: Wey had a terrible crash at Spring Creek that sent his bike tumbling into the creek and him to the hospital. Wey’s fractured vertebrae have been fused, he recently resumed riding and is planning on getting back behind the gate when the Nationals begin.

I hate the wording 'mild concussion.' It's a concussion. There is no grading system anymore. It is what it is.

When is Josh Hansen's going to let him be ungrounded?

Maybe Stewart should cancel his SX series and heal up for the 'nats. Suzuki made an investment in this guy and needs their monies worth one way or the other and having a wounded warrior with a built-in excuse isn't going to cut it anymore.

I'm disapointed about Zach Osbourne. While he (may or) may not have competed with E.T. & K-Roc for wins, we'll never know now.

Seeing this list grow every week still sucks.

Seeing all these riders hurt is not just bad for our self-serving purposes of missing out on a better show, these guys are missing out on paydays AND incurring cost-prohibitive medical bills. To compound what is already a horrible situation, dealing with the medical industry in the face of Obamacare is certainly not advisable.

I'm very sorry these racers are in this position.

Carlsbad: Then should all the other riders that James beat last week quit also? Seriously man, that makes no sense whatsoever. He can beat most of the riders out there even WITH a bad ACL. Your comment about Obamacare makes no sense in this context either. In fact, you really didn't say anything. Tell us exactly how Obamacare has negatively affected these riders. And please don't say cost. Crazy rising medical costs are what forced us to have Obamacare in the first place.

I truly hate seeing all the injuries to these riders so early in the season. The last several season's have piled up riders on virtually every team. Riders with awesome talent, skills, and experience are truly risking their lives every time the gate drops. Broken necks, backs, legs, and arms, massive internal injuries up to and including death have occurred, with more frequency in recent years than any other time in the total history of American Motocross, and Supercross. Are these machines with incredible horse power and torque the problem, or is it the design of the tracks these warriors compete upon. The Supercross tracks of present day require such strength, precise timing, and focus that even the smallest mistake can cause terrible consequences for these athletes.
I ask all of you involved in this sport, of any level. Is it time for the AMA, and all that govern this sport, to step back and take a look at the safety level of race courses and or the power of the machines we ride. Are we doing all we can to make our sport as safe, exciting, and as fun as it can be. Are the race tracks designed for close competitive, lots of passing races, or the survival of another BANZAI SATURDAY NIGHT?. RIDE STRONG.
THANKS. YOUNGZY33

Hanson needs to stay at home. Osbourne doesn't look comfy on that Honda
at all. Izzi can never catch a break.

Is it just me, or is Byrne ALWAYS injured at the start of Supercross?

@ SuperSXFanMan, the explanation of Obamacare's harm to the medical / healthcare industry is not a discussion for this website. If you have need to bait someone into a discussion of the wrongs of socialized medicine, please reference the already existing examples because it is neither my pleasure nor will to educate the masses.

As for Stewart, if I were a racer today, I would line up anyway because I know Stewart does not have the makeup, whether it be physical or mental, to finish a series anymore and it is a simple matter of still being there when he is no longer.

Even if I were among the slowest on the track, my consistency would beat out Stewart's 7-8-dnf-dnf-dnf-dnf.

You probably don't like hearing this, but I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as someone who thinks Stewart and Obamacare are the greatest things since government assistance.

MXATC128 as fellow Athletic Trainer I am very disappointed in you. I hope the research you did prior your comments is not indicative of how you conduct yourself on a daily basis. So lets get some things straight.
1st Its called The Asterisk Mobile Medical Center (AMMC) not Asterix.

2nd AMMC does not comment or for that matter put out press releases regarding riders injuries.

3rd AMMC has a concussion policy that I feel, seeing as I helped develop it, far exceeds the current standards found in sport. I can guarantee you that nowhere in the policy is the word "mild" used to describe a concussion.

Next time before you comment on our program do a little research or hit me up. I would be happy to answer any questions you have or at least point you in the direction that can provide you with the answer.
