Josh Hill Out 2-3 Weeks

Monday, January 7, 2013 | 3:35 PM

Earlier today, we posted a report that said Dodge Motorsports/Sycuan Casino’s Josh Hill would return to racing this weekend in Phoenix, but we have now received an update from Team Manger Kenny Watson. For precautionary reasons, Hill will be out for another 2-3 weeks. He hit his head in a crash at Anaheim practice, and it was the teams decision to sit him for the night show. He’s also dealing with a small injury to his hand.

Again, the team has decided to sit Hill for 2-3 weeks, so he won't be racing in Phoenix.

Good news.
Hill:Go back and lookat at your interview when you said"I'm going to just try and get thru the 1st half of the series safe and take it from there".

Do it man even if you need to take it down a notch.

People are doubting you dude. Tired of seeing you getting hurt.

I think Josh Hill is washed up! RCH Should have signed Chiz11 As a matter of fact CHIZ11 had better lap times during the tryouts. GO RACE ARENACROSS JOSH!!!

I'm still rooting for him! After all he's been through if he could just get some race time in he might improve to be a top-10 guy. Problem is, he thinks he's a top-10 guy right now.

If he ends this season without making it through the series reasonably healthy. I'd say it's time to call it quits.

He should just quit because it's hopeless after a bunch of injuries and bad luck, just like Millsaps and Canard right? Oh ya....

I hope to see Josh back to his old form but in this sport there are so many great riders who get bitten by injuries. I'm reminded of Robbie Reynard in this situation because when healthy, (must like Robbie) Josh can run with with anyone.

All riders need to be wearing a 6D helment.

Josh is really a decent guy and I hope he can take it easy and aim for 15th place and then 13th until he gets used to racing uninjured- if he consistantly makes mains and then improves slowly he will be well received and supported if he gets hurt again well. . . . . you've heard of the dark cloud

I didn't even notice he wasn't out there. Also Hill was trying a backflip. No business doing that as a racer.

@ggcr........Josh hill isnt washed up, he has had worse luck with injuries than tc41. I say if you can still qualify top 20 you still have a chance. All it
takes is one good holeshot.

Like all the posers hating on Hill. Hill's won a SX! Besides, he got hurt "going for it" and I bet Carey Hart appreciates that. He deserves his ride for the season. Wish him all the best.

Hill needs to just finish the days he gets himself into.... Has to be frustrated to death.... even if he gets last..... Thats better then pushing too hard and not making it to the end of the day.... Then step up a position or two.... You can do it hilly!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering how they came to such a fast decision about phoenix. You should be symptom free... no headaches, good vision and balance, for twice as long as you felt them. So, headaches for a week, sit out for two more. This is how most hockey teams are treating head injuries these days. Dale Jr was sitting third in points and took himself out of a race because of it late last year. Dont risk your long term health by coming back too soon.

how does this guy keep scoring good rides? is he even top 10 quick anymore? guys like brett metcalfe arent in a ride and they didnt blow their career trying to do a backflip, they got injured trying to race hard for a ride. im not hating on the guy , but ricky and carey needs to get a different rider.

as messed up as it sounds I hope they aren't paying very much for him as a business owner myself I know it would sure suck to pay a guy who couldn't work

I'm pulling for Hill as a rider and a human being, but I honestly think he should quit while he's still able to get around. I feel, and this is just my opinion, that he's dangerous out there. Mostly to himself. Sometimes, you have to know when to walk away. But I wish him the best no matter what he chooses. One things for certain: he's tough as nails.

If I were a manager of a guy working his way back in from injury whom i considered to immature to ride within reason I would strongly consider ordering him to either only race the 8 lapper for a couple of weeks. or let the gate drop, let them go and ride from the back. Hopefully then he wouldnt get caught up in everything and ride over his head.

Profile Picture
hawk529 wrote: 11:57pm January 7, 2013

Time to think about another line of work. IT9 would like that ride and take it cheap.

Profile Picture
hamncheeze wrote: 2:03am January 8, 2013

IT9 would also be on the injured list in a week or two. It sucks hard for Hill to have this happen, no doubt but maybe a couple more weeks on the sidelines will be favourable for him, maybe when he comes back he won't be feeling quite as much pressure.

JH out for a few weeks, James possibly out for the season and RV looked like he tweaked his knee a little. This is not a good start. I hope it ends there, but this sport was never safe.

A lot of peple have had the talent the problem some cant figure out is how to harness it? Then to do it without gettig hurt? that is the real trick! Now @t Pheonix, dont get all upset that was not meant to you personally, I never won a 125 main in an 10 mmnt race so what do I know? When me were motocrossers they raced 40 mnt plus 2 laps. No I never made it I crashed too hard too many times trying just like Hill.

Profile Picture
Jbird319 wrote: 1:25pm January 8, 2013

Come on people! any one saying "i cant wait till he proves you all wrong" is an idiot!
Show me ONE thing he has done besides get hurt over and over again. I would bet dimes to dollars the reason they signed him is because Kenny Watson and Carey had so much money sunk into him they had to sign him or look like a couple idiots. I would also bet he was not Rickys choice at all. Its over for him. Even if he does race again this year I bet its only here and there between injuries....bank on it!

Remember how fast Hill was at the beginning of 2010? But then he got hurt again. We compare him to Hepler- Townley- Grant- Stroupe- Izzi -Canard, but really what is it with these particular guys? All the riders crash- its a tough sport. But why do some guys always get hurt? Are their bones and joints less durable than everyone else? Or are they unlucky enough to land just exactly wrong each time? Or be in the wrong place at the wrong time? Some riders hit the dirt hard again and again and again- and ride away most all of the time. I think Hill has the speed to win again- I hope he can heal up and stay that way.

Micahdogg wrote: 5:34pm January 8, 2013

I find it a little ironic that people are hating on a pro racer wanting to do backflips.

Profile Picture
hamncheeze wrote: 7:04pm January 8, 2013

@Micahdogg - I guess it depends how you look at it. Hill's bread and butter is racing SX and MX. That's his strength, and he decided to go the X Games route and try to learn to do a backflip for speed and style. I would not call it "hating", but in the big picture it was a really bad choice and the consequences may have robbed him from a successful racing career, both results and $$.

Profile Picture
Micahdogg wrote: 11:39am January 9, 2013

I'm mostly refering to his boss Carey Hart having had a pro racing career and being the first to do a backflip on a bike - and that led to all kinds of bread and butter.
