Here's my prediction:

I think RV is gonna take it again this year. Dungey will be fast, but just a tick off RV's pace. Barcia will be a threat to win races, but first year jitters (crashes, mistakes) in the big boy class will prevent him from being able to put together a title. Reed will be a podium threat but won't win if RV is on his game. And Bubba will continue to crash himself out of contention, and will be on the injured reserve list 1/3 of the way into the season.

Just my opinion, no need to get mad if you disagree.

@JimK and smee113.
I have to say i am pretty close to what both of you are saying. However, Barcia and Stewart may be more of a surprise than most are giving credit for. RV is a monster and it will take alot to dethrone him. But Bam Bam is going to take these guys by surprise. I can almost guarantee that he will put the big 4 in the tuff blocks. This kid wants to be the best.

JS will win all of the practice times- crash out before end of season and talk about getting ready for the outdoors, but wont race that either. RV will win most races, but have a couple bad ones that knock him out of contention. RD will end up winning the championship. Barcia will win a few races but end up 4th in the title. Reed ends up 3rd and canard 6th. I cant seem to see who gets 5th.

Only time will tell, and I can't wait to watch it unfold. Did anyone ever see the pic of Sloan last year, that he was gonna post? His prediction kinda bit him!! Anyone else remember that?

RV has let it get to his head, he thinks BAM BAM should just move over cause he deserves that kind of respect. He, along with RD, hasn't won anything with a healthy RC or JS competing with them. JB and TC have an insatiable hunger and the skills!!! Just IMHO, whatever the outcome it will be a great SX/MX season if they all stay healthy.

The Stewtards are coming out.. Hilarious..... And cant believe some guys are picking Barcia, I really like the kid, but its a different ballgame on that 450 for Supercross.. I saw how he did at MEC, but he has to do it on that big bike for 17 rounds.. Not a half season like the 250 class... He will do well, but not the title.. And I am kinda surprised ( not really) how many more are picking Stewart than Reed. Reed has had much better seasons the past two years until his injury.. He was faster than Dungey even.. And of course guys are already saying how much Stewart "Likes his new ride".. He said he loved the Yamaha too, its why he RESIGNED to ride it before instead of Suzuki, he bragged at how much better the JGR bike was than the L&M one was.. And guys still blame the bike.. He crashed that Suzuki several times last year besides Thunder Valley.. Unadill he crashed and once at Red Bud.. I hope he stays healthy, but my guess is he wont win the title, its between Dungey and RV in my guess..

@Shepster--Are you blind?? RV won the title the last two seasons, and Stewart was healthy ther entire time.. Hell Stewie finished 4th in 2011 and ran every round healthy.. Were have you been ?????

And what does RC have to do with anything, he was retired before RV even got in the class... But your boy Stewie "hasnt won anything" with RC racing though did he??

A lot of people forget about Jacksonville 2011, where poto didn't make the main and predicted JS7 winning, and he ended up being taken out on a backboard.
I love JS7 and hope to see him do well this year
The last time he switched to a brand new bike/gear he won the sx title and I hope to see it again

Profile Picture
Whoops_Blitzer wrote: 6:03pm December 26, 2012

@realmofo - he's occasionally faster than Reed (and Stewart), like at Phoenix this year, Toronto last year, but those are exceptions. Stewart had faster laps than RV at a couple races this year, but on the whole, in 2012, RV was the fastest guy out there.

You can't bet against RV over a season, but after him it's a toss-up. I still think Reed can outrace Dungey, so if he can match him in consistency he'll beat him in points. I also think Stewart can still outrace Reed, but his inconsistency lately doesn't make his chances of beating Villopoto in points too great.

Unlike some, I actually can see Barcia's recent consistency sticking with him on the 450. I honestly expect him to beat Dungey in 10+ mains this year, and maybe in points, too. I may be eating those words soon, but whatever.

Hey, speaking of whatever, where's Whatever?

Profile Picture
909r wrote: 6:33pm December 26, 2012

Villopoto and Stewart will ride over their heads and crash out like usual. Dungey and Reed will be there at the end fighting for the points lead. Barcia is the wild card...he may win races. If all the above stay healthy, Reed may never win again, however he will podium quite a bit. Thats my worthless questimation.

@preston--its not played out at all, it works fine..everyone knows exactly what it means.. A person who is ONLY a Stewart fan and not a race fan.. And if you want to see someone act like a childlook in the mirror.."Stewart will win every fast lap, heat race and every main" Really?? that is childish,, and your obsession is kinda creepy..

@whoops--I agree. RV is the man to beat.. He is the Champion until somebody else takes that title. I do think Stewart has speed, he always has.. But not much in smarts. sorry he doesnt or he would finish better and handle pressure better.. He just doesnt handle the pressure of a full season as well as some, including Reed and Dungey and RV, it shows in the last couple of seasons as far as to were they finish the series.

I can see Barcia doing damage, but over the course of that long season, lets see how he handles pressure.. he hasnt done that very well either.. Lets hope working with Stanton has helped him mature lately..

I don't see Dungey in the Top 3, given a healthy field. His achilles is not his speed, its his lack of passing ability, and unwillingness to push the envelope or put people in the cheap seats. RV is a given. Stew will be a big threat as long as he loves his bike. CR is a given. Bam Bam isn't afraid of anyone and is fast. Canard is an unknown but could easily be a spoiler. Same for Hill, Tickle. I mean THIS season is the real Perfect Storm. 450 is STACKED

I see the 12 year olds on their big wheel "stewtard and dooooche" powered machines are fired up early ...i hope they blow a rod before racing starts...as that sh*t is way past wore out.....

Oh man predictions are gonna be HARD this year...
Imo 2 riders are missing above - Canard and Barcia.
Those 6 imo are able to win the series (not sure about Canard because of the obvious reasons, but he surprised before).
Adding Weimer, Brayton, Hill - sorry if I forgot someone - its gonna be CRAZY :D

so my prediction is Dungey - he wont be the fastest guy (maybe even win it without a main event win - possible), but his consistency will pay off. Stewart will be on the same level as Villopoto speedwise, but his crashes will throw him down.

So my top 5:
Dungey
Villopoto
Reed
Barcia
Canard

Predictions are almost impossible with a group like we have now.. But I pick the Champ until he gets beaten for a title.. I remember guys picking Stewie to beat RC in his rookie season because he was so dominate on a 125, but it didnt happen.. And now some people are picking Barcia to do the same.. I just dont see a rookie being that strong on a 450 his first year... Not that it cant happen, Mcgrath did it, but I dont see Barcia being that strong mentally yet..We have a very strong 450 class, and I do see multiple winners this season, just like last year.. But I think the guy who wins the title is the guy who does his best work on days he doesnt win the main.. Every point will count this year.. Guys are counting out Dungey already and he is one of the best at getting max points on days he doesnt win.. Watch out for that..

Stewart in 5th!? These people are crazy or racist or something. Yamaha sucks, and Bubba at least got one championship outa that truck. Bubba on that Zuki is gonna be a force to reckon with. Villopoto and Stewart will solidify themselves as the 2 elite to beat. The other guys will only have a chance when they capitalize on mistakes and starts.

Stewart will dominate, thats coming from a BIG Dungey fan. I am a realist. Stewart is now comfortable on his bike. Listen to this interview and it will explain a lot. He has and still does put up with a lot of bullcrap from people who shouldn't even be allowed to enjoy any aspect of this great sport for treating him and his family the way they do.

I do believe I would rather be called a stewtard on assumption rather than being an obvious butwipe. It is obvious you hate JS7 for some reason or another. Let it go - he is an exceptional rider. He, among alot of other great riders, has done alot for this sport that we all love to enjoy!!

"my prediction is Dungey - he wont be the fastest guy (maybe even win it without a main event win - possible), but his consistency will pay off."

It could work out for him -- I know it has the last few years -- but with more speed at the front than ever (and so much of it moving up in the next year or two), Dungey might struggle just to stay inside the top 3 on any given night, if he doesn't fix his passing problem. Worst case scenario, top 3 becomes top 5 and suddenly he's being shut out of title contention year after year.

Luckily he's got as much speed as anyone outdoors. I'm weeping tears of joy thinking about MX'14: Villopoto, Dungey, Stewart, Reed (please?), Barcia, Canard, Tomac, Wilson, Baggett, Roczen, Alessi, Rattray, Weimer, Tickle, maybe Musquin and Bogle. Just sobbing.

Last years top three was a guy who tore his ACL--and a guy who broke his collarbone- and Davi Millsaps riding a 450Yamaha. In this sport ANYTHING can happen- and it probably will. If Villopoto had wrecked that knee earlier- Millsaps would be the champion.

They BOTH have been healthy the last two seasons and RV has won them both.. Remember, RV was already in the points lead when Reed was injured trying to keep up with RV last year, the season before that they both finished healthy and RV won that one also.. Reed finished a very good 2nd, Dungey third and Stewart 4th..They were all healthy when that season ended.. Where were you??? And you pick RV to finish 6th place?? Really?? And you say I hate Stewart--wonder who has issues with RV??? Hypocrite..

RV will do his own thing when the gate drops and will be deadly.
Stewart I hope he does well and figures out how to not wreck.
Dungey nothing but a class act awesome racer and good for our sport !
Barcia, show the spirit, effort, and desire to win- love this guy !!!
Reed, I was slow to like him but his desire to win and never give up have won my admiration.
Canard, I believe he will make everyone remember just how good he is and will not get hurt doing it !
Tickle, he has it guys, Im telling you now he will make top 5 more than once.
Weimer, Windham, Brayton and a few more will be as good or batter than ever but the top ten will be a dog fight.

What is not to like about this season?

The 250 class will be as deep as ever and will be just as fun to keep up with !

JS will not finish in the top ten because he will bow out once he does not have a chance at the title. He will win it straight up but the haters and the critics will still see him as "lucky."

I am calling Trey or even K-Dub. Barcia in the mix with Dungey, Villopoto, Reed and Stewart is going to be trouble. He can match or best their pace so he will be battling with them. People forget that even though he grew up in NY where there are no SX races he is 10 times better at SX and that 450 really seems to agree with him. Plus the battle the 250 riders had this year was insane. So I think he can handle a few extra 20 lap races. The rider that can pickup the fallout from that will win.

Reed will be the only one to match rv2 in speed. Can both of them push each other and stay healthy is the question. Stewie will have a good race if he gets a start early on. He will crash out. Dungey will be 3rd most the time and will overtake Reed and RV in points if they stumble. I hope Bambam and TC can stay in it all year and battle for podiums all season. Going to be a great year.
