Seat Time with Josh Demuth : How the Sheriff became a Pirate
Nov. 14th, 2012 - Even though Josh Demuth is not a native Texan, he has easily been adopted by the Texas Motocross family and has quickly become a house-hold name. He is nicknamed Sheriff; when asked why, his response is 'Why Not?'. Demuth is a three-time Arenacross Champion - a straight forward dude, covered in tattoos, with almost as many broken bones and surgeries as Evil Knievel! To say life has been easy on Demuth would be a flat out lie. He has walked out of more hospitals than Obamacare will shut down and will probably ride till the day he dies.
Knowing that he was beaten up and tired, Josh retired from racing in December of 2011. He wanted to spend time with his family, relax and just enjoy life a bit more. Unfortunately, his bad luck didn't retire with his racing career. In May of 2012 he had a horrific crash that resulted in the loss of his right leg just below the knee. He still has to have surgery to fix multiple foot and shoulder issues. He has learned how to laugh about his new nub and even has a few tattoos in mind for it.
Sitting down with Josh was an awesome experience. He is just as fun to hang out with as you would expect. Hope you enjoyed this look into the life of Josh Demuth, aka Sheriff, and his determination to enjoy life to the fullest despite the many struggles he has been through. Just wish his moustache wasn't quite so creepy...

Josh was a great arenacross rider and even would show up at a Supercross and turn in very respectable results. Good to hear he is doing ok. Been thru a lot . The insurance deal sucks but maybe he can mentor a new rider on having insurance before you ride.
Good interview but man I had to shut if off because you know , I , you know, got , you know, tired you know of you know hearing you know. You know. Even the person doing the interview , you know, got caught up in you know , just saying you know. Other than trying to fly with his right arm. Or was he signing for us old deaf farts.
Good luck Josh, you have been thru some tough times . Still a good attitude. Take care.
Josh is a boss! Cool interview
the sheriff has true grit - i cried
josh can suck it, what goes around comes around
Wow jdbvr, thats pretty harsh. I'm not a big arenacross fan, but wtf. The guy won some championships at a pretty high level. He came back time after time and gave more than most for a sport we all love. I really don't know the man personally, but what did he do to deserve what you had to say? Really, did he cost someone there leg?
I am aware of his accomplishments, and losing his leg.
But damn he looks like a prison fool with all his tats. Can you say unemployable?
Damn shame, looked like a good lookin kid at one point
the guy doing the interview blows. i respect the racing accomplishments of the guy for sure, but wtf is with the neck and facial tats fU#K? and how does josh have such a great attitude? cant ride, cant work, no money, family to take care of? i would hang myself with half of those problems!
to jbdvr. if you like motocross you would not wish anybody to get hurt period. thats pretty sad saying what goes around comes around. what a DICK you are.
The guy doing the interview is absolutely terrible and he made it very difficult to watch. Dude, nobody cares about your experiences or opinions. The interview is about Josh. Your a rambling fool. Ask tactiful questions that allow the person your interviewing to tell their story to the listeners or readers.
Interview Goon wants a PP to Blow to Sleep ,,, Josh is Cool but ,, Give the Interview Dork the Gong/Dong alreadt eh !!!!!!!!!
