Wow should I be holding out for a new Honda? I still gotta wait another month here in Australia.
This is a surprise... Engines no good, no comment about new air forks or weight balance with the dual exhaust etc....
I'd like to see another review... What's pings thoughts after riding them all?

I'd like to see what the lap times were for each bike. That's the number that tells the whole story. Albee is a class act, but remember, he did ride for Suzuki.

Albertyn is a suzuki guy!!!!!!--------of course he's going to choose the RMZ. As a matter of fact, he probably got paid to say the honda sucked!!-------1st time I have ever heard of HONDA coming in last in a shootout! Really????

You have to remember guys, This is just his opinion and he has to place them in order of " His" opinion. someone has to get last and that doesnt mean it is worse than the others. The Honda could be possibly resolved with a simple sprocket change. Take these shootouts with a grain of salt..... The best bike is the one that feels best for you period not what Greg tells you.

@roger That wasn't a shoot out result, it was one of the test riders opinions, surely he will feel more comfy on a Suzuki as he has ridden them since i can remember, i seriously doubt anyone would need to be paid to slag hondas...really... Suzukis biggest threat now days is KTM not honda, with RD5 switching to them and KTM bringing a serious new weapon to the fight.

Enzo is testing the 2013 Honda tomorrow in California. They have a great test rider.. check back here and Ill tell you what he feels about this bike. He also said the RMZ is a great bike, but he was surprised that KTM was picked over Kawi.

I hope he likes the Honda.. He STILL says the 2008 Honda is the benchmark bike to be compared to of all other bikes, but the 2009-2012 chasis felt too quirky to him. He is a REALLY smart guy and seems pretty unbiased.. I question ALBE not being biased. He has been retired a long time but you never know.

I think Honda taming the motor down is a way to help the riders of OUR caliber (so they feel). However, they dont seem to realize the public wants aggressive motors in these tests for some reason. I agree with the above poster, that LAP TIMES tells all. It takes everything else out of the equation.. and maybe Honda knows this.

You seem to be stalking me little-weenie. Remind me not to bend over to pick up the soap bar.

Hiding behind your little screen names that keep changing.. making your running scared little comments.. Anybody can use google. Jabbing at you really touched a nerve didnt it? You spew out crap about others, but when they come back at you.. your head does a 360.

How do you want to settle this? You know who I am.. but I don't know you YET. Fair?

Let it go man. Let it go..I'm tired of your mouth and foul language. How about we have some constructive comments instead?
By the way, your spelling and grammar also still needs work. It's OF COURSE, not coarse.. and its they're great not there great.

Oh brother..

I'm not at all suprised Alby picked the Zookie. I would not base my buy on a former factory Suzukis opinion. I woulda probably picked the Zookie too. Nothing like a old friend. @ rickamatuzio, he's still in the slow class, when he gets his new powerbands he'll settle down.

It's all just Greg's opinion. But seriously Greg, not one complaint about the Suzuki but you could think of one for all the others? lol

It sounded like that Honda needed them new powerbands.

Are people actually surprised the RMZ won? Its came in 1st or 2nd in nearly every shootout I've seen in the last couple years. Heaven forbid he picks it too haha

Frankenweenie - buddy I am not trying to make an enemy of you. I have seen your posts all over this site man...we have our right to do that i.e post whatever we want but you bring NOTHING to the table. Try to put the same effort you put into posting Sh#* on here every five minutes into getting a Job.

Secondly Suzuki has been slowly refining their platform for five years now..much like the "benchmark" 2008 Honda's long development, it has now reached its zenith and is indeed the best bike overall in my opinion. The 450 class is about 1. handling 2. Suspension 3. Reliability 4. Motor...

Well I haven't ridden the KTM yet but I'm sure it'll be great too...Yamaha no need...BNG

Wouldn't it be nice if there was something like this available when you wanted to buy a new bike? Ride all the brands; see which one felt best, and compare lap times. It would certainly beat depending mostly on reviews and opinions.

The 2013 honda motor feeling weak is just a feel it's actually misleading I have the 13 and I rode my friends 13 kx and it just feels different but it's not slower , my friend has 12 rmz and the fastest guy in my group that I ride with has a 12 kx and at no point on the track are they pulling away from me which the way everyone talks about the kx engine he should have two to three bike lengths on me if my motor Is that sub par

jeramey wrote: 2:57pm October 18, 2012

The guy is obviously a hater everything about the bike was improved from last year and even last year didn't get last place, honda musta snubbed him back in the day or something lol

Profile Picture
Motoman5 wrote: 4:46pm October 18, 2012

sure he didnt have a complaint for the suzuki but one for everything else, but that is his opinion, everyone has a different way to describe the bikes. don't get mad, go out there and try the bikes for yourself, because it is really annoying to hear all these complaints about what he is saying about the bikes, like I said before, it is his opinion.

and I think that KTM definitely has the number one rider, so the placement on their list doesn't matter to me. RD1 all day!

CHAD REED has his work cut out for him. No wonder he is going down under to race. Now does this mean that Dungey should win MEC LOL. Would be really nice if Reedy could win on that 2013 and shut critics up. My bike of choice is still 350 KTM. Would really be cool if they made a 350 2 stroke MX or 500 KTM 2 strokemx.

What a pleasure to watch my national HERO back on a bike. Nothing he says is wrong people...NOTHING...ok maybe im a little biased.

@Jeramey, to answer your comment, he was in fact SERIOUSLY snubbed by Honda Japan when he moved over to the States from Europe. Im too sure of the particulars, but it went down something like this. The year was 93-94, Albee was the reigning world campion and MC had just arrived. Albee earned peanuts compared to MC, and when contract negociation came along, Albee wanted a raise (quite rightly too). I think he got it, but Team Honda manager Mr White, had to come back to Albee with a white face saying that they had canceled his contract. After all Albee had won them in Europe, they went cheap skate on him in the US. Apparently they did the same kind of thing to MC at the end of 96 no?? Anyhow Albee then signed with a team that had arguably the worst bike, relatively speaking, in the history of the sport. He had to override that piece of crap he had in order to be competitive. The first OK suz was in '99. It showed that he was overriding with crashes he had. Ironic how amazing their bikes have apparently become (never ridden one before).

I have the 13' KTM 450 SXF and it's like no other 450 out there, trust me.

The 2013 Honda is good, I made a post under PINGS test video of what Enzo said. Everybody pretty much says the same thing.
Be happy with your Honda purchase and send it to Enzo to make it better

I can't lie, I'm bummed that the test riders didn't care for the Honda. I was really hoping 2013 was going to be the turn around year for them.....but...it's kinda like this....If your a Zook guy, you will probably like the Zook. I'm personally a Honda guy and a 40+A rider. The power on the Honda works good for me as it's easy to manage. I started with the magazines suggested suspension settings and tweaked it a little from there. For me, the suspension is dialed in great and I'm very happy with it. I'm definitely going to add a pipe for next year and some other goodies, but I'd probably do that with any of the bikes tested. Pick your color and go with it guys!

I dont get why people are surprised that Honda got a bad review. They havnt done well in any shootout the past 4 years..... There are better bikes, get over it.
