Lake Elsinore 250 Moto 1 Report
Saturday, September 8, 2012 | 6:15 PMEntering the final round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at the inaugural Red Bull Lake Elsinore National GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac had won four of the last six motos to trim Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Blake Baggett’s points lead to fourteen. Momentum was on the side of Tomac entering the finale, and questions were beginning to arise if Baggett would be able to withstand the charge of the rising Tomac. In the first moto, Baggett put to rest any doubts about his ability to handle the pressure of a championship after withstanding a furious late charge from Tomac to take the moto win and extend his points lead to 17 with just one moto remaining in the championship.
Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin was looking to play the role of spoiler after snagging the first moto holeshot over GECIO Honda’s Justin Barcia and Lucas Oil Troy Lee Designs Jessy Nelson. Barcia quickly moved into the lead, but would soon receive heavy pressure from Baggett. Meanwhile, Tomac was digging himself out of hole after a bad start.
Baggett chased down Barcia to take the early lead and was able to stretch it to over six seconds. Tomac would fight his way around Barcia and then dropped the hammer to cut Baggett’s lead to just over a second. But Tomac swung for the fences too early and would succumb to the blistering heat, laboring to cross the finish line in second. Barcia would take home third with Musquin, Wil Hahn, Ken Roczen, Malcolm Stewart, Blake Wharton, Jessy Nelson and Jeremy Martin rounding out the top-ten.

Great Race! I hope Baggett takes this championship - he has earned it!
Go Tomac!
That was a close one! Great effort shown by Tomac, but you could tell Bagget had more left in the tank.
I think even if Tomac wins the 2nd moto, all Baggett needs is a 13th to take the championship.
Didn't get to see the Tomac or Barcia post race interview or wasn't there one ?
Jessy Nelson definately deserves Rookie of the Year honors!
Tomac & Barcia went straight back to the pits and did not do podium interviews
Baggett proves that hard work and clean riding beats the dirty riding style of Barcia. Does Barcia really think that brake checking Baggett at the half way point of a moto is going to work at this level? Baggett knew it was comming and made a clean pass and pulled away.
Congrats to Cole Thompson on a solid 12th place finish. He was riding in 7th for a while but went backwards a bit. Hope Star Valli keeps him for next year.
Cheap antics are for pussies! "Let him by" and Hahn and Bogle do their job? Your a freaking moron. It's called racing, not bullshit slower guys purposely screwing someone. Teams should be penalized for "team tactics."
Anybody think Tomac should be going to the Des Nations instead of Barcia. Tomac is way stronger and is riding awesome. Too bad the heat got to him in that moto because it looked like he was going to make the pass on Baggett.
Forgot Julius - check your math it's a 13th or better..........
go blake baggett your the man go team monsterenergy procircuit kawasaki
u rock
Barcia should have gave his teammate the way.... same with Hahn.
why being in the hunt (almost as much as Tomac) do you just pull over unless its for the championship win no doubt (let broc by)...hes racing ...but the corny block attempt (allegedly and pathetically) was not needed..... Tomac will get his ...there is a place for him in the record books on a 4fity.........Thank You ALL 250 riders and TEAMS for INCREDIBLE racing......
You stink Islamic retard, who do you think you are? Just a loser from Iraq, burn in hell dumb
You're just an idiot, look at this guy, what a jackass
Guess what Julius...I'm not Euro...In fact I am in the U.S. Military and have been for 22 years. You are a total disgrace to all Americans (if you are one). Lastly, you are an embarrassment to the sport of motocross. Now back away from your parents computer and go to bed....
KYFHO69: he is not American, supposedly he is from Iraq, a fanatic Islamic retard, a real nuts case.
I don't understand why nobody from this web site bans him for good.
Too funny.... Ahab the Arab needs to grow up a little. By the way Julius, nice spelling...where did you go to school "infidels International" What a joke, I'm not wasting any more time on this retard....out....
@the eurozozos stink! Whatever you are, plant or animal, you are an embarrassed to single celled organisms and upward into multicellular lifeforms .
Your Nationalistic Bigotry is a true display of ignorance, in (every) sense of the word.
Find that rock you oooozed out from under, and slime your way back for eternity, doing everyone else that wants to discuss the sport of Motocross (minus the politics) on these boards, and we will all be glad you are (now and forever) a tiny speck of historical (in)significance, and nothing more.
And it was good...
PS In contrast to the embarrassed on these boards of/by; (The Eurozozos Stink) and all he (doesn't) stand for that is good, I would like to offer my congratulations to Blake Baggett, Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac, Ken Roczen, Marvin Musquin on their top five performances (respectively) and the other 35 riders on the gate who have laid it all on the line, each and every week, all summer long.
Fine Job Men!!!
