Horrible PR. Who cares about the go-kart video when they are pants for Moto-X riders? As far as the weight of the pants, show the difference in weight matters! Do the lighter pants provide as much protection / durability? Blake Wharton could wear reinforced silk stockings that are far lighter and would probably be real comfortable unless he crashed or got roosted.
I suppose light weight has its place but I'd prefer protection - its not like mx is an endurance sport - more like a hard sprint - as we'll, before I lay down my hard earned I'm gonna be damned sure what i am buying looks good - TO ME this stuff is not good looking at all...it is like we are in the mid nineties again?
On PulpMx there is an article the "Ten Ugliest MX Bikes of all Time" if there were to be a list of "Ugliest MX Gear" this stuff might make it
What does a guy that overweight know about motocross? sweats enough just driving an electric go-kart.
the pant weight comparison was AMAZING!! I never would have believed it was lighter unless a balance showed me so! WOW!! (end sarcasm).
I love the correlations he draws between winning races and having lighter pants. ridiculous. If that's the case, I'll take the "leading motocross pant" any day because a guy named ryan dungey has won way more important races in those heavier things. In fact, I think I'll start carrying dumb bells in my pockets too.
That guy must have eaten his own brain.
Oh my. Relax people. I for one am pretty excited about the vapor pant. I heard from one of Wharton's friends that he has been really stoked with the pant and it's held up really well during the SX and MX abuse. I think one thing you guys are missing is that you run moto pants with knee braces. Where else do you need protection? Do you really think some TPR's give you protection??? Wonder how the Fly pant stacks up?
MX pants should provide protection and TPR has saved me some scrapes a crash or two. If they don't do that, then why pay $175 for them?
Cant say I know wharton or any of his friends LOL, but I will say that I had a chance to see and touch the rockstar vapors out at the Indy sx ( I have grabby hands). Lets just say I am interested in trying them out. I think the colors and prints look pretty good on all the new stuff. I guess I like the mid nineties??
I'm intrigued. I'd like to try em' out myself and see how durable they are. Gotta' give ONE some credit tho for trying push the sport forward.
Wharton says they hold up to abuse well? Dubious at best. He's a pro, meaning he gets new pants like all the time. Pro's don't wear a single set of pants for an entire season. The better tester of a product's durability is a fast amateur.
Can't imaging those things hold up well even in a modest crash.
exlax1,
Are you a fast amatuer?
Put your name and address on here and maybe they will enlist your services for testing.
I think my fellow fat guy mentioned some top amatuers that have been racing and winning in the stuff.
Sounds like you have an axe to grind not knowing much about the product.
