@ JS - GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE, GET A NEW RIDING COACH, GET OUT OF FLORIDA TO RIDE REAL DIRT, AND GET BACK TO BASICS. COME'ON KID, THIS SIMPLE.

AND YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF SUMMERS OFF, CAUSE IT'S TOO HARD ON YOUR BODY AND TO CHASE 72 WINS.

This guy will be a big surprise in 2013, he still has some serious speed. He has not forgotten how to win a championship, that's for sure.

Manes: I think anyone with half a brain can see that there is a simple issue here. Not that it is simple to ride like James, Dungey, or even like the guy who qualifies 41st......but that you don't have to be 2 seconds a lap faster than Ryan Dungey to win. It will be surprising if James doesn't continue to crash away in 2013. I have seen nothing on the Suzuki that looks all that different from the Yamaha so far. He still had that serious speed on the Yamaha......when he wasn't on the ground or hurt from being on the ground. I really think James never knew how to win a championship against stiff competition. All his titles have come when he was the overwhelming favorite to win. He has even tried to throw at least one of those away (2009 SX) where he won 11 mains yet only finished 4 points ahead of Reed and his 3 wins.

IMO, James, His Dad and the Suzuki Team need to have one goal every week at the race. SX or MX does not matter, that goal should be.....................Are you ready......

Race the best you can WITHOUT crashing! Take what ever place you get, going as fast as you can, WITHOUT crashing!

There is nobody in the sport right now that crashing is a bigger issue for. They need to simplify the goal and get this guy through a season with minimal crashes. Even if it results in 3rd overall it is better than he has been doing the last couple years.

You can't even think about a championship until you can be there for every gate drop and every checkered flag. I know I am stating the obvious but why don't you ever hear anybody from his team addressing the " Keep it rubber side down " goal?

manes:
James has always had "some serious speed" and as long as he can still move his arms and legs he will probably cut the fastest lap time at any event he enters. But to win races and championships you have to be consistant. There are some very fast and very consistant other riders now. Not even the most dilusional Stewart lover would say James Stewart is consistant. And his crashes aren't usually tip-overs, where you jump back up and lose one or two places. Based on what we've seen out of him the last 3-4 years .... how could anyone think he can keep it together to win a Championship. Some individual races ... yes .... but a Championship? Highly unlikely. But for sure ..... where ever he is on the track .... he'll probably have the most eyeballs on him. He's always entertaining to watch. Not many guys hang it out and go for it like him.

It seams to me that James desire to win has exceded his talent. So as a result of riding over his head he has became James the lawn dart Stewart.

@HandlebarDragger, Pretty tough to call someone a " F A I L U R E" when they have millions in the bank, and multiple championships, dont ya think? Oh well, you will always be a moron..

How frustrating is that! I was happy he came to ride and even happier he even tried the second race. That was a first, lately. Atta Boy there! He deserves some good comments. Loved Big James calling him Jamie when he does not have a pair? Too funny Big James! Sure was a tough track, bad injuries all around. And good shots of his hand and the right grip covered in mud.
Now, who is this James Hatton. Cannot find him on Google. Maybe he needs to get his resume online so we know what his talent is, or is he just some homeboy/friend of James "glommer on"-er type dude that is trying to make his name off of JS& Entertainment. Perhaps another mistake in the camp. Anyway, great video Racer X Rocks!

@ lisaoutriding, though big James comments were funny, he is a BIG part of the problem. As long as everyone, BIG James included, expects James to win everytime he lines up. He will likely continue to crash his brains out. They need to start telling him take the best finish you can get WITHOUT CRASHING.

LET NOT CRASHING become the norm. Then grow the speed and race smarts to win from there. What might be an automatic fix would be to soften up the suspension on the bike! This would maybe not allow James to comfortably ride as fast and might avoid some of those inevitable front end washouts. Like the first crash at Dilla.

I read comments where a test rider said James RMZ was by far the stiffest suspension he had ever felt and he weighs 25 lbs more than James. Obviously nobody knows how it feels at the speeds James rides but again the key is for this team to figure out how to keep this guy off the dirt and in the mix.

These past couple of years for Stewart have been very tough to watch. I haven't been much of a Stewart fan since he was racing 80s but I hope he can turn his career around.

Anyone can ride as fast as James....for a quarter lap...before they take a major soil sample...whats cool is that James can ride as fast as James....for almost four laps

He is not the fastest man on the planet but he is a human lawn dart. By the way James the lawn dart is original. You may not like it but I do so get over it.

I have to admit, while watching the recent motos, especially at a track like Unadilla, that I am cringing when I watch James because I am nervous he's going to wad it up at high speed. As a Suzuki fan I am hoping he can put it together for the SX season.

One thing I am wondering is if he's gotten to the point where maybe he has had too many concussions over the years and his brain can't keep up with the speed of the action on the track like it used to...I've had many over the years myself, and I sort of feel this way when I "try" to ride at the speed I used to. I hope not, as I wouldn't mind seeing James (and everyone else!) have an injury free season next year...I know that's asking a lot but you can dream....

So let's see....If JS7 is a lawn dart than I guess Dungey, Reed & Villipoto are too.
They all sustained injuries in 2012. They all won races. Two of them won championships. They are in a league of their own. ALL CHAMPIONS!!!

James has crashed him self out of the last 3 supercross championships and this years nationals. That is just going back 3 years. The man crashes more than he finishes. That is why I gave him the nickname James the lawn dart Stewart. I hope he can turn it around because he is great to watch when he is on, truly an amazing talent.

Snooze the dick, if you know anything the only reason James didn't race the outdoors those three years is because L&M was a supercross only team.

@starplaya4life
I have been following James from when he was on a 60. He is a truly amazing rider. This does not change the fact that he has lost more championships due to crashes than he has won. It would be safe to say that last year he crashed more than RD, RV and CR combined. Same with this year.

Profile Picture
B-KR wrote: 7:08pm August 28, 2012

Starplaya, it is okay to admit James just didn't want to race the Nationals those years, which is why he signed with a SX-only team....the same way Reed did and the same way that MC did before that. Other guys auch as K-Dub and LaRocco also did SX-only and never did any of them make any bones about the fact that they just did not want to do the outdoors. When you're the highest paid guy in the sport (back then) you dictate what you will be doing, not the team. James could have negotiated L&M and Yamaha supporting him overseas in the GPs after SX was over....if he had wanted to do that.

Sorry, but I sorta think he has. He knows how to win races, of course, but championships?! Sorry, but I think the 2009 Supercross was his last, the field is just wayyy too stacked out for someone like him to constantly make mistakes and still expect to win.

I agree with Red54M and mit12 ("riding over his head") but the problem is he does not want to finish 3rd or even 2nd. His thinking is if he cannot win he does not want to race. He makes excuses all the time but the problem is he is riding over his head and the only way to fix that is to get some consistent rides in that would be top 5 and start getting the feel of the competition....BUT he won't do that so I give him one more year before he retires. Suzuki is about to waste a lot of money on him. They should get one of the new fast guys and start training them to win on their bikes.

james is getting a little old to be a serious contender with stiff competition....These young guys are fast....All the riders used to be scared of James' smash derby racing... crashing into the competition and attempt to ruin careers....\the new guys aren't scared of james..
