First Look: Loretta Lynn Ranch

Thursday, July 26, 2012 | 11:30 AM

The motorhomes, box vans and race teams are starting to fill up Loretta Lynn Ranch for the 2012 Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships! It's going to be a big year at the ranch, too, as this marks the 31st Annual Loretta Lynn race. It's also part of the Red Bull Signature Series, which means it will also be airing on NBC, an unprecedented development for amateur motocross. But one thing that hasn't changed is the level playing field that is Loretta Lynn Ranch. As the Racer Productions crew started shaping the track and adding sawdust and sand to the loamy river-bottom soil, the track was still covered in grass: Loretta Lynn Ranch is off-limits to every motorcycle for the other 51 weeks of each year, which means the first time anyone gets to ride on it is the first lap of practice Monday morning.

Here are the "before" pictures. We will show you more as the track develops.

I wonder where they found white sand in the middle of Tennessee?

At the bottom of a mine, perhaps?

There is NOTHING like showing up early and seeing the grass-covered track. Too bad they didn't get any pix with the cows on the track. Right about now, they are starting to till up the track and sculpting the 10 commandments. What a cool experience for all the guys making the trek down to Hurricane Mills. Good luck to all...leave everything you have on the track...
