Hangtown 250 Moto 1 Report
Saturday, May 19, 2012 | 6:20 PMLittered with champions from all over the world, the 2012 250 class is considered one of the deepest in history. And early on former champions shined bright. Reigning MX2 Champion Ken Roczen and two-time East Region Lites SX Champion Justin Barcia locked up in a battle of champions. But lurking behind was the El Chupacabra, Blake Baggett.
Known for his prowess down the stretch Baggett again proved to be a beast late in the race. Coming from over eight seconds back at the mid-way mark, Baggett chased down and caught the former champions (Roczen and Barcia) as the white flag dropped. And all this came after he had hunted down reigning West Coast Lites SX Champion Eli Tomac.
Locked at the hip with one lap to go the pressure was beginning to mount for Roczen and Barcia, who had fought tooth and nail all moto long, but now to had to hold off a red-hot Baggett. Barcia would succumb to the pressure first, as Baggett charged around the outside, gobbling up the former champion in the process. The El Chupacabra then plotted his attack on the MX2 Champion, making another brilliant pass with only a few corners remaining. In one of the most action packed opening motos in history, Baggett put in a truly amazing ride to capture the victory. An exasperated Ken Roczen and Justin Barcia would round out the podium.
Other Notes:
- Pro Circuit was dealt a devastating blow early in moto 1 when Dean Wilson had to retire after his already damaged shoulder popped out again. Early reports are that Wilson will now have surgery and miss the remainder of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship
- In his first ride in the 250 class since 2005 Ivan Tedesco put together a remarkable moto 1. Hot Sauce ran up front early before sliding back to sixth.

What a great moto!!!!!!! BB12 was on fire. Roczen, Barcia, Tomac, Musquin.
Faster laptimes than the 450 class. Exciting racing!!!!!!!
Roczen and Barcia were hauling it, and then here comes the inhuman Chupacabra and passes them both. Unbelievable!
Btw, it's 'begins', not 'beings' :^) (pretty strange typo), and I don't think Stewart 'amassed' Short either.
I just got done watching the weomens race! that was a good one! They are better than most of you puter racers! Ya My Mom would be very impressed. Ms Fioleck got 5th that show that they are getting better! Hope I can watch the 2nd Moto of them?
Looks like James likes his Suzy? he was haulin! "Big" Bllake Baggget did it again,.ya he is an animal, Lets see if he can keep on doing that?
great first moto too bad I will never see the 2nd moto of anything this year, NBC-SN what the heck is this, went to set the DVR for the 2moth and see SNL listed then went back to racerx to see what I missed and see NBC-SN could the promoters have been able to find a more obscure channel to sign a deal with, I have Comcast pay well over 150 a month just for TV have almost 900 channels and no NBC-SN They want another 30 bucks for a sports package which contains channels I already have I don't get it.
Great Racing indeed..this class is were the action is ...Faster lap time ..wow... gonna be a great season ...Credit to Wilson for tryng to defend the title ..now go get it fixed...as for TV coverage ..I have Direct TV pay 60 a month and have NBCSN ...usually I complain about Direct TV...guess I will quit that ...
Drop cable and satellite as they are both services that will soon go the way of the dinosaurs. Plug your internet feed into a game console [ e.g. xbox ] or tv set with amazon/zune video, netflix, hulu and youtube client support and watch what you want when you want only paying for the content that you care about. I was in the same boat, cableop wanted unreasonable per month fees just so I could get speedtv channel. Not worth when compared to using internet streamed on demand content offerings instead. They need to get with the times and offer ama mx/sx live stream and on-demand offerings like they do with mx1/mx2 series.
Go to vitamx if you can't see the second motos. Some dude posted the link in Portugal .I'm watching 2nd motos right now.
for fu#k sake kenny rock, have you slow down when you hit the us border...??? you scjhould just smoke these jokers.. kill in the second moto or fire decoster and bring in everts
I have to use satilite as I live in the country and I have only local phone company internet provider ..DSL so slow I cant even watch Racer X videos most of the time
Second moto BB did it again...Barcia and Roczen ...close racing hope I stay awake to watch it tonight....
