Why?! Should have gone to Peick
Have you seen Regal outdoors in the past, regardless of what bike he was on? That's why.
Regal will rip outdoors on their bike
Making moves quick, eh JGR? No, but that's a great pick, hopefully he can do what he did in 2010 and be more consistent with it. To my knowledge, Regal isn't someone who gets injured a lot, but after 2011 I didn't hear anything about him and then he just shows up at a Supercross race so I don't know. Congrats JGR, I bet a lot of people were looking at him as a podium threat and picked him up.
Yes, he is fast outdoors, no dought ...
I heard he hates the bike !
...no doughnut, he's blazing fast outside. Good for JGR and Regal.
Preston
Don't start.
Regal has shown great speed outdoors... he's earned this
Great for both parties, JGR gets a better rider than they had and Regal gets on a better bike.
@warrior462,,, hmmmm,, how many SX titles and MX titles has Regal won ?
Wonder if Regal has orders to take out JS7 is he gets close to him ? Doubtful he'll get close.
Crazy....First thing Regal did after being released from the San Manuel team last year was get off that Yamaha......Then he went to Suzuki BTO I beleive and didnt do too much in the races he entered....then he jumped to Honda (by choice) then signed with H&H for supercross to fill in for Partidge on a Kawasaki, now he is back on a Yamaha...I think Regal will do OK....but back in 2010, he had some good finishes....nothing since...that I recall....JGR needs somebody
Good for Regal! Hope he and Millsaps find themselves ahead of Stewart a bunch.
What about Gavin Faith?????????
I bet Regal finishes ahead of Bubba in points. The FRAUD will be exposed yet again....
@kxpwr18 - Peick? Really? Peick is top 10 outdoors at best, Regal is a podium threat. Stupidest comment I've read in a long time.
smee113 - when was the last time Regal podiumed outdoors....and how many times has he podiumed??..not baggin on the kid....just curious.....he was no where near the leaders pace outdoors last year on the suzuki...
Great Question!!!!!!!!!!!! Kyle Regal finished 21st overall in 2011 in points for the Lucas Oil Motorcross 450 Class Championship and 15th overall in Supercross. In 2010 Kyle found himself 9th overall improving from the previous year of 16th overall in points. In 2009 Regal was the MX Sports Pro Racing 450 Class Rookie of the Year
Podium ?????????????
smee113 - you are an idiot. How did Regal do this year? Oh what?...Shitty? And how did he do last year? Oh what?... Shitty? I don't have any problem with Regal, but there are lots of other MORE DESERVING riders to fill that position.
@KilloMoto & TheChosen1 - I agree with you 100%
Once again the air times are wrong. 12:00-2:00am on the 20th not the 19th. Also it would be nice to have the home page (when on iPhone) not show up with toronto's race headlines. But I'm really not one to complain. Bring on the great outdoors!!!
Nothing would be funnier than if Regal chased down Stewart for the win at Hangtown! We know that won't happen but it sure would be funny. Also if playing hopscotch means your not talented what does that say for stewart? He has been on three different teams in the last year. I would like to see Regal do well. He has been working hard for a couple years now and I don't think he has made any money to speak of. Good luck kyle!
Regals biggest problem....only problem, for that matter. He hasn't STAYED HEALTHY for a WHOLE season.
The kid has mad skills outdoors.
Regal was THE best choice for the moto season. Pieck may be for the indoor season. Maybe Faith.
For all the non believers:
2nd moto Texas 2010 chases down Short and passes him for 3rd in a pretty hairy pass.
2nd moto Millville 2010 passes Short TWICE after falling.
Generally in or near the top 10 on the Suzuki end of 2011.
Both on a privateer Honda. I had my eye on him after Texas but became full-blown fan after Millville (was there). He has the speed, the willingness to hang it out, and the fitness. Just needs someone to help him become a professional mx'er. Help him be consistent and such.
I would have preferred to see him on Reed's or a Geico bike this summer, but whatever he's riding I'll be wavin' the shirt when he comes by!!
looking forward. There are a BUTT load of good kids rising up in the next year. Baggett, Wilson, Barcia, Tomac ( after next season). Where are they going to ride? Wilson may get Weimers ride if TWOTWO doesn't expand.
Are we going to see a Pro Circuit 450 team full force next year? ( Wilson and Rattray)
Are we going to see 3 & 4 rider factory efforts? I will guarantee ktm will have a 3 rider 450 team after this a title in the 250 class this year. ( K ROC smokes them all)
Could make your head explode thinking about it!
Congratulations to Stewart for having the Balls to realize that it wasn't working; walk away from an SX/MX deal and NASCAR future! Congratulations to Regal for working hard and earning a spot with JGR! Best of luck to both of them!
Congrats to Regal... good luck outdoors and stay healthy.
He should be somewhere around top 5. Not going to beat JS as some are hoping, but fast none the less.
bunch of fanboys over hyping this dude, JGR aint got no shot at cracking a podium this motocross. i can name better riders. Dungey, Stewart, Short, Metcalfe, Weimer, Brayton,Alessi . now maybe if all those riders have a bad then yea ...
Do you morons not remember him being in or close to the top ten every race in 2010 outdoors? Yeah, hes not super fast indoors but hes earned this ride! Though I am kinda bummed hes back on a Yamaha.
@mxmofo1-As many titles as Stewdart has won in the last 2 years
I guess gavin faith would rather ride a privateer honda than that bike because coy said if he liked it, the ride was his as davi and his wife had been preasuring them to give gavin a shot because he and davi are friends
Good luck to Regal, hope he can keep the Yamaha on 2 wheels.
Good for Regal...maybe the team that hired him has a little more reason to think he'd be good for them than the expert haters and jealous wanna bes on here. One more year and its retoolin time at Yamaha...hang in there kid the next one will be a good one... He seems to be a pretty damned good rider.. .. I see the racist pig @handlebar has crawled out from under the scum. bummer.
That is cool they got a good rider, But I do know for sure he was probably the biggest pro rider in the pits talking about how big of a piece of crap the Yami was. That is a fact. He was going around making comments to anyone he talked to about how poor the bike looked to handle. Fact! So, as I am glad he will be on the gate for the season, (the dude rips!) , I am quite surprised he would sign to ride a bike he has been so clear to talk a ton of crap on...
I remember reading here that Reed should of signed Regal instead of Townley! Regal will probably run top ten in the 2012 diminished field, wont touch Bubba & nor would he get a look in at a healthy Townley....... after all Regal is yet to win anything major & both Bubba & Ben certainley have.
Mabey when Regal gets the feeling of being settled in and can relax knowing he is taken care of for a whole season his results will improve....Got to give the kid a chance....I bet he will be beating some other factory guys on a regular basis!!!
So glad he got a ride for the outdoors!!! He will do well this season.
James has the natives restless from all accounts and all angles. I guess even the Indians were pissed at him, when he was at practice even regal was tearing him a new one.J ames was seen hanging out with the tribesmen smokin on the peace pipe.."How unkuthe"
I'm glad Regal got a good ride finally but let's face it- no Yamaha has finished a season in the top 5 outdoors in over 3 years. But it's a step in the right direction- and he is still only 20 years old. Go Kyle Regal!!!
@handlebar/whoeverjair you're a racist pig .I haven't said a bad word about him ..thats your m.o...and you obviously also have a problem with reading. ...you're just some backwoods klan wanna be.Your pathetic and I do wish you had nothing to do with motorcycle racing as most of us don't care what someones skin color is under the helmet or in the pits....What other name are you gonna hide behind (since your sheet doesn't work) tonight when you start your ignorant kkkrap or are you gonna pretend you did'nt make some of the stupidest , lamest , racist remarks ever allowed on here. Or you gonna own up to being that big of an a8s.
Stewart wins the championship this summer. Stamp it!
Congrats regal, im just pleased jgr have signed someone for the vacant
yz450f. dont no a lot about him but ill be watching him now to see how the
yamahas go outdoors. did i mention i luv the blue beast lol :)
Izzi was a better choice ..
Regal got screwed up with the L&M Stewart fiasco of 2011. Pre-season he was told he would be doing at least some Nationals.....then Stewart parked the rig. He only raced the 2nd half of the series. He also had a dislocated hip in the offseason. He is not good at SX and is going to surprise outdoors. As will Millsaps, even though we all just saw how good he went in SX towards the end...some will still be surprised.
Regal has speed but needs to prove some consistency. I hope he does well.
Glad he got a deal but there were much better riders out there.
@handlebardragger "Don't hate on Kyle Regal because he TOOK JAMES STEWART'S RIDE because he's more marketable and more likely to produce results, and is a much more professional ambassador for the sport".
Oh FFS..I'm not much of a JS fan but you need to take another hit off the glass pipe if you believe all that nonsense boy. The stupidity here is reaching new levels.
Suzukis and Yamaha's both suck! They're crap. Pieck? are you kidding that guy is a gate filler! Regal i doubt he'll podium, maybe with this depleated field. Ride Honda! (or Kawi).
Good luck Kyle, have an injury free, consistent season and show us the best you have.
And for you fans that think that Regal stole the ride from JS7, you need to move back to the remedial comments page and study up on the sport. It is a great testament to the riders when they are forced to ride a bike that the (experts here) know are crap, and they can still put them on the podium. And a great testament to those crappy bikes that they can put those piece of shit riders on the podium. I would guess if Tyla and Weimer do poorly,...... that at the end of the season, it will be the Kawasaki that will magically transform into the latest "piece of crap" that can't win. Isn't it their turn?
He only rode 4 races last year. he was tied up with Stewarts drama and sitting out the summer. He did finish 2nd in 2 motos in 2010 and did podium twice at 19 years old. He will learn a lot from the Gibbs team. If you doubt his speed watch Freestone or spring creek in 2010. He passes Windham, Reed and Short 2 times, Townley and more.
