Seely to Fill-in for Canard
Tuesday, February 21, 2012 | 8:25 PMTorrance, CA: Team Honda Muscle Milk announces today that current Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda Supercross Lites rider Cole Seely will fill in for injured Team Honda Muscle Milk rider Trey Canard at select Supercross races beginning with the coming Atlanta round next weekend.
Seely started the 2012 Lites West title chase with a bang, scoring a win in the opening round at Anaheim 1. The 21-year-old from Newbury Park, CA, added a pair of seconds to that win so far this season and is currently third overall in the championship as the Lites West series takes a nine week break.
“Cole proved last year that he has what it takes to run in the Supercross class,” said Team Honda Muscle Milk Manager Erik Kehoe. “He’s a hard-charger, and a good fit for the team. It’s a great opportunity for Cole to showcase his capability on the CRF450R, while maintaining his competitive skills during the break. I want to thank everyone at the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team and all their sponsors for allowing Cole the opportunity to race a factory Honda for Team Honda Muscle Milk.”

Look out boys Cole can ride.RD5 you better do somthing b4 Seely takes your points and puts you in third
Tomac should be riding it.
Tomac needs to remain focused on the 250 title. Cole is an excellent choice. I hope he makes the most of the opportunity.
They probably asked Tomac first - who knows he could be injured, the Geico camp has been very quite about him since his mishap in the bumps.
Tomac is injured, and why would a rider with a very good title shot risk it by jumping on a 450 for a couple weeks. At least wait until the outdoors.
Seely was all hunched over and super fast at A1. His style at that race was super clean, what happened? Seely, I don't know what you did at A1, but it looked rad and was fast too, get that back! His head was over the bars all the time and his momentum in the turns was great, then at the next race his style seemed to change?
I bet they will put Barcia on it for the outdoors
Makes no difference who they put on it, just another Red Bird for RV to lap.
If you look at Tomack, Seely and Wilsons lap times they would all be in the top five in the 450 class, I think if he gets a good start he might surprise a few people. Cole is only 15 points out of first place in the points in the 250 class, I don't know if I would race the 450s if I was him.
sadly the last couple years factory honda has been bitten by the injury bug. hopefully seely stays healthy, definately want to see him back for the end of the year in west coast. and reed said on his twitter that he has no plans to put anyone on his bike while hes injured.
This is a great opportunity for Cole. Filling in on the 450 was one of the best decisions Trey ever made. It kind of kick started his career and when he got back on the 250 he was a better racer overall. Cole still has a shot at the west title and resigned for 3 years with TLD so he won't be going to factory Honda anytime soon but it is still a priceless opportunity. Good luck Cole!
Tomac is the only rider who can outrun RV on a 450 at this point. With Chad out and JS riding a tard, this season is so boring. 2010 was better. Its lights out for RV. RV could start 7th and still outrun the whole field.
Finally get to ride a real bike! GL man!
TWK1 agree with everything you mentioned. However, you stand corrected to your statement of Seely signing for another 3 years with TLD. I know his agent and that is incorrect. Cole signed a contract last year extending his deal with TLD through 2013. If he wins the lites title he will point out and move up to a 450 so Factory Honda could be an option for next year. Good Luck this weekend Cole from all your fans in NYC!!!!
I also think Seely has a great shot at the West Coast Lites title. He has the speed and if he did not have that bad race at LA he would be leading the points. With him racing the next 4 races that bad news for Tomac and Wilson as he is going to come back and Crush them the last 3 rounds.
Reed out. Championship over. RV1 will just be riding around to protect points. Even if JS7 catches fire for a race or two RV1 isnt going to battle with him. There's no need, especially with JS7 constantly taking people out because he's out of control. I predict JS7 will win some races now just because there's no reason for RV2 to mess with him. Remember last year all RV1 could say was "be smart" "I was smart". All RV1 will do is ride good enough to stay ahead of RD5 which is a walk in the park for him. If you thought the season was boring so far, be ready for more of the same. Since this is an article about Cole Seely I will say that I think top 5 is very possible with a good start. Otherwise who gives a crap.
Having Cole Seely in the mix will at least make it interesting to watch the 450s. I'd like to see him step up to the big bikes and take away points from everyone. I am now looking forward to Atlanta.
I know that Reed has no plans to hire another TwoTwo rider, but does anyone else feel like Dean Wilson could be a possibility in the near future?
Canard won't be back until supercross 2013 season, no outdoors for him. Tomac will stay on the 250F and Barcia will be on the 450 for the outdoors.
Thats the deal.
I hate to say it but Canard most likely wont be riding a factory honda when he returns in 2013!
Seely was asked first, not Tomac.
