Pro Circuit Race Report: Oakland

Tuesday, January 31, 2012 | 9:15 AM

CORONA, Calif., - Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki left the Oakland round of Monster Energy Supercross a little worse for wear, but there’s nothing like a little hardship to serve as extra motivation to dominate in the coming weeks. Misfortune marred the night at what was probably the most technical track we’ve seen thus far during the 2012 series.

Dean Wilson arrived at Oakland a mere one point behind the series points leader in the Supercross Lites West Championship, and was hoping to close the gap even more. His night started out well with a solid win in his heat race. The rest of the night, however, didn’t go as planned. Bad luck struck Wilson early in the Supercross Lites West Main Event, pushing him to the back of pack. The incident shook Wilson up a bit, but he quickly remounted and charged from 19th to 10th, salvaging valuable points along the way.

“I’m pretty gutted after tonight,” said Wilson, “I was feeling really good. I got a good second-place start in the Main, but ended up cross-rutting into the Tuff Blox and crashed really hard. Thank God I’m ok. I’m bummed out for Tyla, too.”

Tyla Rattray had a difficult night and ended up failing to finish his heat race after a hard crash. He is being evaluated by doctors this week and an update will be issued by the team later this week.

“I just want to thank everyone for their support. The fans, the sponsors, my team – everyone. I  should know more about my injuries this week, and I’m hoping to recover quickly,” said Rattray.

Broc Tickle, the team’s only rider in the Supercross Class, stayed consistent all night and piloted his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki machine to at 13th place finish. Tickle has been getting great experience during his rookie year in the class, and is looking forward to learning more every weekend.

“I’m learning a lot,” said Tickle. “I’m thankful to be on such a great team. A lot of guys crashed tonight and made mistakes, so I’m glad I left healthy and in one piece.”

The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki boys head back to Anaheim this Saturday, February 4th, for the fifth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Wilson’s battled it out and salvaged enough points to keep him second overall, with 73 points in the Supercross Lites West Region. Rattray moves to fifth with 60 points, and Tickle stays at 14th with 30 points in the Supercross Class.
