PrintThe streak of new winners is alive and well here in Oakland, in the supercross class anyway.
Davalos took the holeshot and early lead in the Lites main, but surrendered the lead to Tomac after a couple laps. Tomac checked out, and won the race by over twelve seconds. Behind Tomac, Dean Wilson went down in a rhythm section right before a triple and restarted in dead last. Seconds later, Seely went down as well. Jason Anderson was hauling and worked his way into second, but went down while battling for the spot with Marvin Musquin and Zach Osborne. Musquin took second, followed by Osborne, Ryan Sipes, and Matt Moss. Wilson ended up in tenth, while Seely took eleventh. Tyla Rattray went down hard in his heat, and was not able to race in the main.
Chad Reed took the holeshot, but James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto were only a few riders back. Several laps into the race, Reed found himself under immense pressure from Stewart, who was fighting off Villopoto. Then, on lap ten, Stewart made a move stick on Reed and slowly started inching out a gap. Villopoto put pressure on Reed for a few laps, but Reed was able to eventually ride away from RV. Stewart took the win, followed by Reed, Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, and Andrew Short.

Looks to be a great start at Bubba making up a few badly needed points to even stay in the hunt for this years championship. Pretty early to be counting all your chickens V-O-R. Way to many races left in what looks like the most exciting year of supercross in quite some time. Wanted to see Dungey on the podium, but a nice consistent 4th won't hurt a bit. Can't wait to see if CBS listened to the supercross fans, and will do a better job editing to footage this time. Were they drunk for the LA race or what?
Not a big fan of stewart but glad he made it happen! Well done and specially in the fair straight up race it was. Brilliant for the series! This will for sure lead to allot of stupid forum discussions specially with Villapoto having the fastest lap time. I bet the Villapoto fans will let us know that he had the speed and could have taken the win but didn't feel for it as he risked getting taken out by Steward or Reed... and the Steward fans will look at this win and start celebrate for the Championship...
Bummed about Dungeys poor start wounder what happened? Happy he made some passes happen and made it up to 4th!

I'm extremely curious RVtards....was he just playing it safe yet again this week? Just preserving more points by not passing James?? Didn't want to get "taken out"?? It is so funny how so many of the guys who would have already been on here celebrating a less then perfect Stewart finish are nowhere to be found right now!! Keep it going James!!
It's early to make any long term calls but he did exactly what the RV fans didn't want to do. Get a somewhat decent start, make passes and check out. I guess RV's fastest lap of the night was only good enough to keep him 8 seconds behind the leader. Bike looks great with white backgrounds as well.

Congrats to James on what must have been a very emotionally charged win.....wish this one was live. Now lets see if he can maintain the passion for the rest of the series. Sounds like RV had a couple of close calls tonight and even lost some time on Reed? Guess he can just blame his bike.....

Boy, the number of comments sure is down from usual. I guess the JBS bashers and haters have to take this week off. They're all heading for the doctor to get their anti-depressant meds refilled. lol Why, just last week, they couldn't stop saying James was done and crowning RV the new "fastest man on the planet". Two weeks in a row James beats him straight up and now ... the silence is deafening. And Reedy is back to throwing temper tantrums. Oh, this is good.

CBS sucks, paid programing for cosmetics instead of Supercross. Does anyone think this Liberal station is trying to turn people away from Supercross. They hate motor sports so why let them cover the race, ( or not cover it)
Now alot of people are seeing why I started calling some guys "Stewtards", they come out of the woodwork when he wins. And they act retarted, and you are seeing it now. Good race, Stewie got his win like we all knew. We have 4 winners in 4 races, that is cool. and 4 different brands of bikes, that is very cool. Cant belive Stewie won on that crap junk bike. That was the excuse as to why he wasnt winning, it was the bike. Sure, right, this should shut up the bike is crap stuff. All 4 of these guys can win in any race, and that will happen all year long. Oh yea, RV1 looked like crap in Oakland, he was not aggressive at all, he ran harder in his heat race than the main. It looked like Reed was moving over on him, making it hard to pass, like he should. And RV just backed off and stayed put, no aggression at all.
The super spoiler is that CBS DID NOT air the SX race when they were supposed to !!!!!

Don't really care who wins or loses, just hopin' that this season holds up to the excitement of last season. Instead of everybody rippin' on these great riders, you guys should be rippin' on all of the lousy TV and media coverage that this sport gets every week......this is a prime-time sport and should get prime time coverage!
BD200...not to be a jackass or anything but everyone in the industry knows the Yamaha is not quite as good as the other bikes and JS7's setup was also way off on top of that for the first few races because the were hardpack and slick. James has always done well when the track is tacky so that he can push his front end with out it tucking under and losing traction. He will still struggle in the hard pack tracks until they fix the problem. And for all of the people that say they don't like JS7 for his off the track personal life stuff....give examples of what you mean. I follow the sport and the riders as much as anyone and I can't think of very many things at all as to why JS7 gets so much crap about his "personal life"? So he was trying to be funny and put up some cop lights in his car for a couple minutes and all of the sudden he is a thug criminal? I think people don't like him because he gets TV shows and makes twice as much as anyone else so sphinctor holes on here try to hate on him as much as they can no matter what he does.
The bottom line is that JS7 and RV are the best of the best and although I think RV has a slight edge on him because he has a better bike but while RVs bike is as good as its gonna get, JS7's bike has a lot of improvements to make with setup so we'll see what happens as the season progresses.

To change the subject...did Canard fracture his vertebrae or just "injure" them? First, you here that he fractured them and then RacerX says a couple days ago that they were "injured" and the CBS broadcast said the same thing while they said that Ryan Morais fractured his neck. Just wondering how bad Canard's injury really was because if he didn't actually fracture his back then maybe we'll see him back by the end of the season or atleast in the nationals?

Congrats to James, he earned that one and thanks Reedy for making us older guys proud. You didn't seem rattled today and ran your own race holding off RV and not letting James get too far ahead. I just can't pick a winner for this season anymore as on any given day and of the top 4 guys can win it.
@Slarverson, if the bike was as bad as people sayStewie would be riding a Suzuki. If it wasnt good, Stewie would not have signed on this year to ride it. He had a factory Suzuki offer, and turned it down to ride the Yamaha, I'm not buying that excuse about the Yamaha being a bad ride.
@ bd200......Agree with the bike thing for sure, and if the Yamaha is a bad bike then he is just a sellout and he deserves to suffer on it. The reality is though the bike is fine in practice and heat races and he's always sporadic in putting together a full 20 laps. Nothing has changed except everyone else getting better around him.

in case you TV people are wondering what I want - both heats without commercial breaks - lcq - main event without commercial breaks and no BS - do not show a guy laying on the track for 20 seconds and then show him riding around in last place for 30 more second when a RACE is going on - get a freaking clue

CBS changed the broadcast time twice then only showed the main in So. Cal.. I hope they do better next time. Thanks for the link to CBS..
Bd200, from what I have read JS wanted to ride the Suzuki, but with the state of the race team what it is, I think they were only offering a 1 year deal where JGR was offering a 3 year deal, and more $ plus other incentives. He then only signed after he rode and tested the bike which he said was a lot better than what his was last year. I think they still have a lot to do to the bike to get it to where the Kawasaki is. Remember RV has been racing the 2012 since last summer. JS has only been with the team and testing the bike for a few months, and made a horrible mistake not to test in CA before the series started.
I think JS is going to be stronger with a win under his belt, especially when they go back east to the softer dirt.
I don't care who wins as long as we get a diffferent race winner every week!
Tpowell82 LMAO !!! Anyways I still think JS7 is struggling on the Yamaha. they are not quite there yet. Its no secret the YZ450F has the worst reviews str8 out of the crate. Not saying its a bad bike, but you just dont see a privateer on a box van Choosing the blue 450. They all have gone red or green but mostly green.
If Joe Gibbs team can build multi million dollars cars for NASCAR, then I'm sure they can build a dirt bike that can match the rest.

@buckyy394-- Roger already has a rider with great ability, but a much better work ethic and more dedicatio9n than Stewart, his name is Ryan Dungey.. Why would Decoster want to put up with a pert-timer when he wants to race all summer??
hey Red, I wasn't serious. I am a RD 5 fan all the way. The match of Gibbs and Decoster would be huge no matter who rode for them. Was just a thought.
