is it just me, or can anyone else not find the listing on CBS for the race when it is supposed to air on Sunday? C'mon CBS, get your asses in gear. This is why Speed needs to cover everything.

Why is everbody bagging on the CBS coverage last weekend? I thought they did a decent job at it. At least there was no human interest story; expect for what related to Supercross anyways.

i dont understand why they cant show a six lap heat race in a 1 hour program .this coverage is going backwards imo . i mean having the lites on monday at noon come on man .this sport has been treated like a joke forever. I keep hearing how much better the coverage is i dont see it. cbs needs to step up or get out. they didnt even interveiw dungy or stewart after the race .to much bs not enough racing.

@Sp8Mx31 - If it's not showing up on your local listings, they might be preempting it with something else. That happened a few times last year, in specific TV markets.

As far as the CBS coverage, if watching the stories etc. bother you so much, just tune in it at the half hour. Then you watch all racing. I did that accidentally last week and may do it on purpose this time.

Everyone wants to see the battles of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd etc...CBS does not know what they are doing!!!! During the final laps on the main Vilipoto was closing in on James S. The coverage was on Mike Alessi. Alessi was in the back.... I could go on and on with more examples. SPEED not only knows how to cover the race but can KEEP up.. Hint SPEED...

I believe the people that have created the current CBS SX Formula have it wrong. They are turning off viewers, not just long time Supercross fans but potential new Supercross fans. That will hurt their PROFIT because the viewership of the CBS programs will not grow and many of the local CBS affiliates will continue to not even air the SX program, (the second biggest complaint about CBS after last weekend).

Then they kept the spot light on him for the next 3 laps when he was out front by 20 seconds at that point ?..........it was a real bummer i would of just went to the Anaheim event had i known i would be watching a race for 4th spot...So lesson learned, i'll be in attendance next anaheim

CALL YOUR LOCAL CBS STATION, and tell them about how you feel, but do it without using inappropriate language.
I am sure the program director of the local station is a BIG supercross fan,
and if no one calls them on this they will keep running infomercials.

I'm just glad its on TV evey week nowdays. Of course if CBS could manage both heats and the main, that would be much better. And if they could show the LCQ also that would be great. And if not, could they at least mention who made the main from the LCQ this time so we don't have to wait for the names to finish scrolling across the top and then backing up the DVR ro rewatch the start once we know who's all in the main. And then could they give us the full top twenty finishing order after the race rather than just the top ten? And maybe they could...

The coverage is horrible and it is pretty inexcusable seeing how it is prerecorded. They hardly even mentioned that there was actually a different start to the main event with a red flag. They acted as if, "ehh restart - no problem - happens all the time" when as we all know restarting a Main is a huge deal, especially to those who got good starts. I also can't stand how the display the sport... SUPERCROSS ISNT A MONSTER TRUCK RALLY!!!!

This sport has been filling huge staduims with fans for 40 years. There is no excuse for not having it live on TV. Our sport is run by amatuers. You pay good money to go to a race and you sit arround watching the T-shirt launcher, guys in sumo suits racing or the tuff block race.

Profile Picture
looper148 wrote: 1:48am January 28, 2012

You think you guys have a tough deal, we (English) have to wait till friday to watch the race, and that's only if you pay £10 ($7) extra a month to get ESPN. By that time I'll know lap by lap what happens in every single heat, lcq and Main. Supercross is meant to be the biggest thing you can win in MX yet it's got the poorest coverage out all of it.. Hell you guys can even watch the G.P.'s live if you like on MXLife.tv.. It flat out sucks.

As far as CBS goes...... as bad as it is, did anyone watch A1? We lost most of the race. This was SPEED. I just don't get it. Does speed not care anymore either? These types of broadcasts make newbies to our sport run and never watch again.

Profile Picture

CBSucks!! WTF....Is it just me or does everyone hate watching something they already know the result for. I know it is cool to watch the race anyway but WTF!!?? Can't someone do something about this?! Do the powers that be really think this is the best way to advance our sport?

Profile Picture
looper148 wrote: 6:23am January 28, 2012

I just don't understand why they can't show all the races live on the internet and not the 2 mins of practise they show on supercrossonline we get on a saturday night! Say you pay $50 and get all 17 races live.. Simple..? That way everyone around the world could get to see the stuff as it goes down. Inbetween the heats you could show interviews, classic races, even adverts for your advert crazy country. Job done. But no. That would be far to easy.

@GreenMeansGo:

Thanks for trying to find alternate times, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find these alternate times in my local listings.

You know, I used to think that people were too hard on CBS - I kinda had the "We're lucky it's on TV at all" attitude. But I have changed my mind - CBS needs to be slammed BIG TIME for their crappy coverage. Supercross gets pre-empted by football (big surprise) and golf. Last year it was pre-empted by coverage of - get this - a snow storm. How is it going to help the sport expand when the races are pre-empted and shown at 2:30 am? (which is what happened last week in my area).

As it stands now, I don't even know if I'll be able to see the supercross race on TV at all.

CBS SUCKS. That ain't whinin' folks - that's the cold, hard truth.

Profile Picture
ronniebarnhardt wrote: 10:04am January 28, 2012

CBS couldn't pour piss out of a boot with directions on the bottom. I won't even watch their beginner coverage anymore I just do live wire, that way I keep my eye on the top 4 riders. Were they trying to show Alessi getting lapped and how exciting that was? Supercross draws more then a lot of NFL teams, and look at Nascar how their fan base has shrunk. But they show Nascar practice and timing live for pity sake. it is almost impossible to get a good seat in supercross anymore because they get bought up so fast. I am not on of those lucky to have any coverage type guys because the networks collect money from me each month. I say if you don't know how to handle covering a sport drop and leave it all to speed.

What I read here in this comment section is,"SPEED has spoiled us with (their) standard of production they have honed over the years." When some other Network (CBS) produces a SX event it is not what we are used to. They (CBS) contract Ralph, Jeff (not Erin) from SPEED and probably utilize a lot more of SPEED's people as well. But, I think there is a (CBS) producer that wants to maintain control for contractual (or) job security reasons, and the producers, and other support people from SPEED do not have control over the entire production and this is where things fall through the cracks, unfortunately. I have often wondered what battles go on in the broadcast booth when these events are jointly (CBS/SPEED) produced.
In summary, I felt like I had been watching skin-flicks of my sister for an hour last week after viewing the CBS Production of the Anaheim II event. I immediately went to Church and repented after viewing on CBS. "Help Me O' Lord, for I Have Sinned"
