No whoops!!! just the sand ones that will not hold up.
Prediction...first turn pileups.
Cool hip jump going right - was always harder for me...
rollers while going around a sweeper - looks cool.
Sometimes I race radio controlled cars and they always tried to imitate SX tracks...seems SX tracks are now imitating radio controlled - well not really but the sweeper with the rollers - classic rc
Hope for another good race and a Tomac Wilson battle...those dudes are haulin butt..
A SX track with no whoops. Alessi's everywhere rejoice! This is going to tightenup the top 10. Go Reedy!!
So lap times down to 45 seconds!
@Not4Show- Yep. Pretty much
why don't they start doing 20 minute + 2 250 mains? and 25+2 450 mains? or something along those times.... better for the fans who pay the money to watch.
They'll cross the finish line just a few turns after the start, so again it'll be about a 19 1/4 lap race.
No whoops=Ridiculous
Amen Elliott!!!
I'm actually glad to see a race without whoops, should keep the top 10 from thinning out so much.
It won't be to long until the Springfield Mile is rougher than a SX track.
Oh there will be no thinning out alright. It'll be 15 minutes of follow the butt patch. It's official- the tracks have gone from suck to blow.
90's suck, they dont seem to get it, no whoops. another one line follow the leader
The tracks dont always match the track map 100%...so maybe there will be some " hoops" as RC calls them....GOAT mispronouncing track obstacles....hilarious
What the hell is wrong with half of you. Probally the best rhytemed out supercross tracks I have ever seen. So many various jump combos and lines! Its all about momentum and scrubs!!!
@ moto314,, true, but you also have to put something in the track that "challanges" the riders. In other words, something that "seperates" the riders.
What the hell is wrong with me is that everyone will do the same combo and rider after rider says 90 degree turns don't work. Scrubbing and momentum is great for the guy out front- and Villopoto because he doesn't count (dude is unreal right now).
WX reports suggest Rain is coming this weekend too! Should make things real fun for everyone.
THIS IS A1 ALL OVER AGAIN. Wasn't anything learned from it? And no whoop section?!? It meanders all over the place in a single line with only 2 180 degree corners where so much passing takes place. Come on Dirt Wurx.... total B.S. effort here.
Can anyone give me a race where the final results have been completely out of whack because of the track, where Villopoto, Reed, Dungey, and Stewart have been out of the top five and Tedesco, Short, Hahn (no disrespect to them) have all ended up on the podium because of the track?
Somehow, regardless of the track, the results don't seem to change much, which puts the idea of "separation of riders" pretty much where it belongs.
I think the folks who don't like the tracks should start posting pictures or links to their track designs. If it's good enough, maybe someone will take note and you'll have a new future as a track designer. Or maybe all the dirt wurx guys will tell you what an idiot you are and bash you. Who knows. But if you don't bring a solution along with your complaint, what good is it?
@ RandyOlson,, I think you are missing my point.. Here it is --- It's not much fun the watch ALL the riders doing ALL the jumps the same. Thats why the Daytona SX is so much more fun to watch than all the others,, because its TOUGH track.
@ redrider24,, I'm sure all the Dirt Wurx guys will listen to us,,, hahahaha.. Fact is, they want close racing,, and to get close racing, make the track easy, so ALL the riders do ALL the jumps and obsticles the same. I remeber watching Ward, Bailey, Lechein, ect.. get stuck in the whoops at a SX because they were so tough. You don't see that anymore, do ya ????
I don't necessarily disagree with everyone about the tracks. I just have spent some time thinking about it and struggle to come up with a solution. I totally agree that every track should have a couple obsticles that "test" the riders to some degree. I loved the retro track they did a couple years ago. Looked like a POS and didn't flow. The jumps looked like they were made by cracked out hillbillies. But it did challenge the riders and made for some great racing.
Does Dirt Wurxs have free reign on the track designs or does the AMA? Who has the final say? Anybody know? Obviously DC and some of the others do read the comments sections. If a great design were staring them in the face, why would they ignare it. At least copy it and take credit, right?
I would hope the guys who are designing the tracks know a TON more about building tracks than anyone on this site. I wasnt sure about the Pheonix track. It had short lap times, but wasnt too bad for passing. And I dont know what race some of you watched, but there was some pretty good passing going on at A1 too. So lets see how the track plays out before you start ripping the track builders, it might turn out to be pretty good.
And one other thing about having an "obstacle" to seperate the riders. I think it was 2009, but the track in Indianapolis that was designed by Mike Larocco gave us probably the best race of the entire season that year. And Larocco himself said he designed the track so "everyone" could go fast on it. " The factory bikes wouldnt have a huge advantage" .. And it worked great. There was alot of passing, and close racing. It was a great race on a fairly easy track..
A1 was technical and lower speed which is harder than it looks, wasn't one lined at all and produced good racing whether the riders whined about it or not. There were tons of passed and riders coming through the pack at A1.
JUST ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave the track AS DESIGNED! These guys are PROS!!!!
Let them figure it out! Don't remove or lessen obstacles because some guys crash!!!
If this track gets BUILT AS IS.....there WILL BE A SHAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JGR told them to leave the whoops out this time
They haven't figured the Yama out yet and JS is bouncing all over the place on those "hoops" sections.
JS could not afford to be 25 points back after three races.
@AGMAN,, trust me, JS wants whoops in the track. Yes, he does crash in them, but that's where he makes the most time. He by far the fastest through them.
@mxmofo1 ...Not this year he isn't! In years past, he most certainly was but that has not been the case at all this year. We have already seen RV, and Dungey pull on Bubba in the whoops this year. I hope that James gets it figured out. I can't stand the guy but he is fun to watch.
@Retardcross ...I agree 100%. Watching the GoPro videos after the race was over really showed how one line the track WASN"T.
No whoops.. who cares, but if you feel that strongly some of you guys should form a petticoat commitee and make a stand ha ha
Lets see how the race goes and talk then.
i like the track layout. no whoops means something different,. NOTHING says you HAVE to have whoops. i don't think every track should be without whoops, but change is good people. I'm stoked about the race. Go Dunge! (ya know, if you accidentally leave off the E in Dunge it says Dung... hmmm... not good)
its not supercross without whoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Redneckrider ,, Sorry Dude, but I do not agree with that at all. This year, the whoops have been easy, so when they get tough ( if they ever do ) be sure to watch him make passes.
@mxmofo1 - Then we will have to agree to disagree. It doesn't matter if the whoops have been easy or not. They are all riding the same track and Dungey and RV have both pulled either up on Bubba or a bit away from him in the whoops this year. If you need to, go back and watch all of the heat races and the mains again. Some people are saying the Bubba is still have bike set up issues and that will hurt his confidence and when you have guys like RV, Dungey, and Reed that are riding a wave of confidence, it is at least understandable. As I said in my earlier post, in years past he was the fastest in the whoops. Not this year. Easy whoops or not.
This track layout will favor Stewart due to all of the different jump combos that are possible. This weekend could be Bubbas break out race since jumping is something he certainly does excel at, where as this year since there are no whoops at A2, he would be expected to be faster overall. I think if you take RV2, and Dungey out of the picture, Stewart could win this weekend. Unfortunately for him, both of those riders are on a huge wave of confidence.
This track appears to have many different possible jump combinations. It should be great!
