Josh Hill Out 4-6 Weeks with Broken Tibia
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 | 5:45 PM
Sources close to the Dodge/Sycuan/Hart and Huntington Kawasaki team have confirmed to Racer X that Josh Hill suffered a broken tibia (lower leg) in his first turn crash last Saturday night at Anaheim 1. Hill will be out of action for 4-6 weeks and this injury is not related to his other leg problems that have sidelined Hill for the past year. As of right now, there are no plans for H&H to put a fill-in rider in that position.

Dang, poor Hill. Hopefully this convinces other riders to stay away from Xgames...
*sigh* "this injury is not related to his other leg problems that have sidelined Hill for the past year"
Man, that's such a bummer. Get well soon Hill. Supercross will wait for you.
I'm bummed for the guy, all the talent in the world... This is the type of stuff that makes motocross one of the pinnacles of human endeavor, Josh is an astronaut, a navy seal, a president. These trials are totally real people, win or lose, it's not because he was a quitter. Most people wouldn't have the guts to get back out there after twisting their leg up like a candy wrapper...
I miss watching Hill ride. Best of luck to him. Here's to a quick recovery!
Keep your head up Josh! After all you have been through, this is a small set back
That really blows I was hoping he would be able to work his way back into the mix. I agree with hunt3r.
If they were smart they would let CHRIS BLOSE fill in for him Poor guy keeps progressing and then always gets screwed just like when he was on Troy lee
pretty sure Blose won't leave his Ti-Lube team if they offered.
Get well Josh. I had a similar injury and was hospitalized for 5 1/2 months, a few in traction and the rest in a full body cast. Couldn't walk without aids for over a year. Still nerve damage and no feeling but I got over it. Now that is the stronger leg. Don't lose your determination. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
"not related to his other leg problems"
Was his bad leg the one that was broken Sat night? Haven,t gone back and watched, sure hope not.
What a bummer!! I was really wanting Hill to have a good year after what he's been though. If he could get a few breaks(not bones),he could be a podium threat every week!
Given JH's previous (and current) injuries he might consider wearing the best boot that $ can buy.
Tommy Hahn!!!! He was a factory killer when he was on the KX in 2009.
Cary, bring in Tommy for a few weeks and give him a chance.
I'd say tommy hahn. what a bummer for hill. and he tried to ride it out
@Hunt3r - It is definitely a bummer that Josh got hurt again. Hope he heals up quickly
I understand and agree with what you are trying to say about Josh, and professional MX/SX riders, in that they risk a lot every time they get on the bike, but I strongly disagree with the comparison to Josh being like a SEAL or an astronaut. In no way can you compare a pro SX/MX rider to a SEAL or astronaut. I went to school with and have a number of good friends who are SEALS and astronauts. Pro MX/SX riders just do not put themselves in the same degree of risk as SEALS and astronauts (those who are pilots - some astronauts are not). And as in shape as RV and the other top tier pros are, they'd have a hard time hanging with the training regimen of the US Spec Ops community.
Maybe we can get some of our deployed troops or Johnny O'Hannah to comment.
What a bad thing for this to happen to him.get well soon Josh! Please do not give Up!
i feel like we've seen this career-pattern play out before
not sure Josh is gonna make it back to form after all is said and done
It was sad seeing Hill at the trailer being interviewed. Like Broc Hepler did after many racing injuries, maybe Hill can start working on his post-racing life which includes college.
Motocycles are dangerous and for some of us the injuries are a message: Get out while you can. I race MX and SX now all the time on my XBox and apart from a little arm pump I walk away from every session just fine and reasonably satisfied.
"4-6 weeks" Oh how I hate to hear that!
Josh, keep your head up brother! You are one of the nicer guys in MX/SX and everyone loves to watch you ride. Maybe this break was meant to give your other leg a bit more time to heal? Might be a good way to look at it.
We are all pulling for ya man. Just stay away from J-Law while you are out of commission!
@ tracks, Are you serious? Give me a break Xbox, really? I'll race my real MX bike till my body wont anymore, I've dealt with injuries and I'll deal with any possible other issues and when its all said and done I'll look back and smile. I'm sure most riders and racers on here have the same thoughts. Xbox motocross get real.
Tibia breaks are hardly 4-6wks. Plan on 8 months...it's the slowest healing bone in the body (lack of blood flow). I'm not a Dr. but I've had 3 broken tibia's and all were well over 6months. I think Josh should begin some college classes while he's healing. Maybe just a good plan B for the future. Good luck Hill.
Please, somebody for God's sake put Josh Hill in the booth in place of Emig on the Speed Broadcasts. I make no apologies for this suggestion: Carmichael is awesome, Sheheen is the requisite talking head, Bates asks pertinent questions at the appropriate time, but Emig stutters and gasps his way through every other sentence and his references are as out-of-place as a huck-a-buck. Hill is likeable and current in terms of racing experience and technical knowledge.
Hate to say it but josh should retire, i mean he still has paralysis in his leg and may never be 100 % again. He stated he has a hard time shifting gears. Hes a danger to himself and others. Be smart and retire josh like broc and micheal hall did. There is life after mx bud, get to know it and live it. Work with your bro and show him the ropes.
Tracks... really
I think its time for him to sit back and ask himself what he wants to do.. Supercross, motocross or free style.. It looks like you cant do both and be healthy..
