While supercross sponsorship today is dominated by energy drinks and … well, energy drinks, there’s a long, weird history there. Page 138.

"Karsmakers went on to win the first ever Monster Energy Supercross". It was so first-ever, they didn't even call it that until 30+ years later. He must have been riding the 450 class.

Interesting that Yamaha has the most brand wins in the premier class. I would think McGrath has at least 15 of the 20.

And Marty Smith won the first one! I dont care what anybody says unless you saw him he could rail a berm better than anyone and I have been around since 72. No offense to MX Bob Hannah the original wild child on the track. At first Karsmakers would stop at the finish line and wait for everyone to play ketchup.

You are wrong about who won the first Anaheim SX. Tony D. won the first Anaheim SX in 1975. The 2nd winner was Marty Smith one year later in Dec. '76, which was AMA sanctioned the second time around. Jim Myerson from the O.C.
