andrew short is awesome but i dont think switching brands will improve his results any.
2:47 is that Reed back there haha
I think getting on a bike that can keep up with the rest of them will help though. 350 experiment = fail. At least for the pros.
Sorry but Look at the guy in the back at 3:15.. "talk talk talk talk talk..." lol
@racing310 - You have to remember though that Short was riding the 350, I think his results will improve and he'll be a threat for the Top 5 week in and week out.
Short will come around this year, a lot of his problem was mental on the 350, I think that where he is will end up being a good place for him to manufacture some more speed. Plus the guy is a class act, fun to watch, and an all around decent human being, you can't say much negative about him at all.
Short never looked right on the KTM. Good to see him back on the Honda. If he can rebuild the confidence, he can run top 5.
Good Luck Shorty, You got the support now from Brooks/ Mcgrath it should get you to the next level. Always a hard worker and always in the mix. KTM just wasnt your bag baby. good luck for 2012.
KTM suck, Shorty will do much better on a Honda....
you can tell what he thought about the KTM by how many times he mentioned now he's riding a good bike
Blah blah blah Shorty, why don't you dis the KTM a little more dude.....that was weak. I have no doubt you are happier on the Honda, but you better back all that talk up with some better results this year man. It's a Honda AND a 450. 6th thru 10th is what i see all season!!
we can't say the 350 is a failure until short does better on the honda.. just so everyone knows on the 350 he was consistently around the 5th or 6th mark behind Villopoto, Dungey, Reed, Canard, Stewart and you can add Metcalfe.. does anyone think that Short will be running with and or beating those guys now that he's on the Honda?
Re: REF-man, You must be one of those left wing idiots that makes everthing into what its not. Reading it one way and drawing conclusions. Short never even mentioned KTM or bad mouthed them in any way. He is professional and just talked up the new ride which he has to do. What's wrong with saying I'm on a good bike that is well developed.
Short definitely had some 5th-6th rides, but that was mixed with plenty of 6th-? rides. To say he was consistently 5th-6th is misleading. He had 6 rides of 10th or worse. He also had 2 4th's, I think. I do think he will run in 5th-6th most of the year, but his bad rides will be better. Overall I don't think it equates to a change in his standings though. I think he still finishes around 6th in points. He'll just be closer to finishing 5th (unless someone gets hurt of course).
Hope the holeshots come back, now that he's on the big red machine. Shorty's a good guy, and how can anyone knock a rider, even if he only finishes 10th? He's still pretty damn good.
I feel the same, He will not do any better. I hope he does but would not bet anything on it. All the issues with his Kid last year did not help either. Can't wait till Reed shows up at the honda track and Brooks is there someday LOL good times
Kind of hard to not root for Shorty, he is a good guy.....I think he can get up to the top 4 on the Honda and maybe squeak a podium finish or two in when there is some carnage on the last few laps like we have seen....but if he starts up front with JS7, RV1, RD5, and CRtu-tu in tow, I dont see him staying there....but maybe he can find that speed he needs.....clearly the 350 was a bad choice.....he jumped on the new 450 and that put him in the hospital......so back to Honda he goes
I seem to remember Short pulling a ton of holeshots on the Honda and getting a win in the outdoors too.
REF-man, you are an idiot. Short spent about 6 years at Honda, left for a KTM ride, and now is back at Honda. What is wrong with him saying it feels like coming home?
Part of the reason Short was hired at KTM was to help develop the 350. He is considered an excellent test rider so as far as developing a new bike, he was a smart pick for KTM.
McGrath has also been a Honda test rider for a few years helping them develop their race bikes too. Short onto McGraths team is an excellent move and I think he will be a podium threat every weekend as long as Stewart doesn't injure him.
Redneckrider I like Short but no way IMO will he be a podium threat every weekend. I will even Bet on it if you want.
OPS hit the submit key by mistake.
. Who is he going to beat to get 3rd? he will have to beat 3 of these guys to do it, RV, RD, JS, CR or TC I don't see that happening unless they crash out. Short will be in the 6th thru 10 battles.
Andrew looks very comfortable being back on a Honda. It's a big change going from aluminum frame to a steel frame for experienced veteran riders such as Andrew Short. Motocross is such a mental sport, U can be on the best equipment available and if your not confident in your bike you will never ride to your full potential!
Hey Bill, I probably should have qualified my statement by saying I think he will be a podium threat OUTDOORS. I don't think that he will be as much of a podium threat indoors but he did really well on the Honda outdoors and he looks comfortable again. I also think that if he is healthy, has less distractions with his child, or Jackie, that outdoors he will most certainly be a podium threat. For him to be beat Reed, RV indoors is indeed a long shot, I agree.
However, if Short gets comfy with everything around him, I think he can have his best year ever. I don't think he will win the sx title, but we will be in the hunt for top 5s consistently, I believe.
There will certainly be some unknown variables, such as Canard on a 450 and how he will stack up with Short. Dungey had a great first outing on the KTM at the MEC so I think he will still be up there in the hunt but he never did look that comfortable on the KTM at the MEC. But still a great outing for him.
Another great unknown variable will be Brayton on factory equipment, and Stewart moving to JGR. All in all, I think Short will be a top 5 threat in SX, but a podium threat in the out doors....as long as Stewart doesn't injure him.
Like 6 weeks to A1 and this team still doesn't have any sponsors?? Shorty only mentions his sponsors and the bike has no logos. Not even the exhaust sticker that I could see. Hard to race every week without any money. I assume Honda is footing the bill and working its way out of racing like Yamaha and just support teams?????
All I'll say is if AS finishes six ALL SEASON behind the likes of RV, RD, JS, CR or TC that'd be pretty damn good.
With focus, confidence, a few good starts and a little racing luck it would be expected to see Shorty in the top five more than a few motos.
Unfortunately there are a few, lesser known, two-initial competitors out there that want exactly what Shorty wants. He's going to have to get past them to catch the likes of the two-initial favorites.
Good on ya Shorty... You want it ? Go get it !
