MotoConcepts Bercy Race Report

MOTOCONCEPTS-ALESSI MISSION HAS LIFT OFF AT BERCY

Temecula, CA.
MotoConcepts Racing and the Team Alessi program had a fine debut at the famous three-day SX that took place at le Palais Omnisport de Paris Bercy, France.

With Mike Alessi’s motors arriving only one day before the event started, time was in short supply.  However, as those who know Mike Alessi, Tony Alessi, Mike Alessi’s Program Director, and Mike Genova, the MotoConcepts Team Owner and Manager, failure was NEVER an option.  The team gave it a 100% all weekend long and ended up 4th place overall.

Friday, the first night of racing, started slowly for Mike Alessi.  Race bike set-up and testing was close to non-existent.  Adding to the challenges, Mike had a bit of Bercy SX jitters, having not been on such a tight SX track requiring an aggressive riding style in quite awhile.  He qualified 18th, which was his low point for the weekend.  He resolved to himself and the team to consistently improve throughout the weekend, a commitment he more than met.  In his heat race, he better qualified 7th.  After more tuning of both his bike and mind, he improved to 3rd place in the elimination round.  After a very good start, Mike found himself in second place most of the race, eventually finishing a respectable 4th place.

Between the first and second nights of racing, many changes were made to the suspension and gearing, which resulted in a slew of great starts in Saturday.  More often than not, it was Mike Alessi, who many say is the greatest starter in the history of the sport, in front after the second turn.  He was 4th place in his semi, 2nd place in the Superpole race, and the fastest American for the night overall.   Mike received a hard-earned bonus for his stellar performance in his Superpole race.

In the Americana series of three elimination races, Mike finished a very commendable respectable 1st,, 1st, 4th on the night.  In the main, Mike holeshot the race and led for several laps, before being derailed by an aggressive maneuver by eventual winner Kyle Chisholm.  After the mishap, Mike finished 7th on the night.

The final day of racing saw Mike make a few small mistakes in the races leading up to the final but settled in and finished 4th place for the evening, leading to a 4th place overall for the entire event of Bercy.

It was a solid effort by all involved and provided a foundation to build towards the approaching 2012 SX/MX season.

Just seems kind of wierd that Kyle was there wearing a MotoConcepts jersey and is no longer with the team. Just goes to show you how loyal Kyle is toward his former sponsor. What a guy!!!
Best wishes for the team next year!!!

Loved that Kyle wore his old Motoconcepts Jersey... Wonder if 1. He wore it to rub it in a bit to Motoconcepts of what they could of had and knew he was going to spank Mike. 2. If he was being loyal and sort of a 'Thank You' to Motoconcepts for what they have done for him in the past. 3. He just threw on a suit he brought with him that happened to have a Motoconcepts sticker on it and no thought was involved.

I love how they talk about all the adjustments they were making for Alessi, shipped an engine in, etc etc. While Chizz puts his leg over a stock bike and spanks him.

Will be enjoying watching Chizz beat up on him all SX season and won't be purchasing anything from Motoconcepts any time soon...

excuses ...excuses....excuses......he got spanked by Barcia, Weimer, Tomac and Chisolm........quite a bit of details and story telling for a pretty mediocre performance.....he has been riding that zook for several weeks now.....he was pushed out of the way just like Monster Cup because he gets the start and then slows everyone down.....

I think that is probably the only gear Chisolm had and or maybe Motoconcepts is still helping him out....if not its probabaly just a "oh well, this is the only gear I have"

I am not an Alessi fan at all, I think the entire Alessi legacy is going to be what a d-bag Tony is and how he screwed over his kid's by ruining a potentially spectacular careers..... To this day, I still remember at the US open when jeff tried to jump the bug double and broke himself up bad...... watching Tony walk off the track and not run over to his son was a prime example of what an a-hole he is...... his tantrum at the Monster cup about the shift leve, etc...... great job motoconcepts- should have stuck with Chizz!

Motoconcepts is just blowing it. Letting go fo DV for the raging Alessi clan was the biggest mistake Genova could have ever made. Yeah, he'll get some media attention, but it will be mostly negative. Trading Tony Alessi to run your team over DV is like choosing Lucy from the Peanuts cartoon over Mitch Payton.

Tony Alesssi - Mike Alessi's Program Director......thats funny..... I think Mike's lady wrote this article....she is probably the team sandwich making director.....I see holeshots and first lap carnage for this kid as he gets passed by 2-3 riders on the first lap.....
