Racer X Podcast: James Stewart

Wednesday, November 2, 2011 | 12:30 PM
This week on the Racer X Podcast show presented by BTOSports.com, we have JGR Yamaha's newest signee, James Stewart. After a long off-season where it looked like he might go with any number of teams and machines, Stewart signed a three-year deal to go with JGR. In this podcast he talks about the new team, his old team, what's next and how he's gunning for 73.

JS7 blames everyone and everything but himself for not winning. Josh Hill got like 6 2nds in a row on that so called junk bike. His ego is so huge he can't take any responsability for not winning.

well if you listen to the interview, James does blame himself for certain things..... You can disect what he says or interpret it anyway you choose too.....bottom line is you can say he was in the same boat Reed was with Kawasaki and things were not right for him, so he chose to walk away and start over.....One difference is, although James was not happy, he still managed to win many races.....Things went from bad to worse and I applaud James for being honest about that and not going into too many details on what happened behind the scenes betwenn L&M and himself.......No bad mouthing like Reed and Brooks, so i think that is respectful.....I hear a new focused and happy james....put some confidence on the table and you have a winning combination...JGR has what James needs.....The " factory" setup like Kawasaki or Honda and JGR is the closest thing......

How about just admitting that there are more riders that can run your pace now James. I'm sorry you are going to have to re-prove yourself as the fastest guy out there this year. Far as I can tell, there is a new sheriff in town and his last name is not Stewart. Best of luck. I hope you make it to the outdoors this year.

Same old story, no matter what he says or how he says it, there are going to be those people who only hear it one way. There are people who will never say a single good word about the guy...oh well, thats their problem. Trend Killer nailed it!! @ "redmanx"...haha, i love it!! Hey Dirty Ninja..if you payed attention at all, he has said several times lately that they are all close on speed, and that small percentages of things will make the difference...Listen up would ya??

Stewart set the bar for RV, RD , Trey and all the new kids....Just like MC did for RC, Huffman, Lusk etc.....JS7 is still very fast....but you can not remain the only fast guy for too long ..just ask MC

So JS7 rode a Honda....where is the footage of that !!!!

I thought once JS7 swung his leg over a CRF450 he would be sold and ride red.....damn!!

Somebody take a guess how many times Stewy said "Like" during that interview.

Hope to see him race outdoors.

The only part of a SX track JS7 can't take control of is the 5" between his ears, pressure him a fair bit and that same old 5" gets him again and again.

This is old news, RC cracked this code a long time ago, and crazyballs just can't seem change the crazyness of his balls.

Wished Stewart had of picked yellow. He could've done himself and Suzuki and himself a favor. It's still a great bike and it seems their program is failing a bit. Would've been a good combo.

Never the less, I'm glad he's back cause RV is set up to dominate next year. At least now it'll be interesting.

TWK1 Hill got those 6 second places in 09 when JS7 won the title. 2010 Yamaha went to a all new design.. Do some research before open your mouth .....

weasel49 Your name is fitting. Hill got all those seconds in 2010, Chizz rode for L/M in 2009. Remember Chizz blocking Reed at Salt Lake? You should do some research before you act like a dumb ass!

We will never know this because "Mr. Honesty" never actually gives us much of anything at all. Let's review: he supposedly hated the Yamaha, to the point of claiming the contract was with L&M not him so as to get out of it. He then rides Suzukis and Hondas during the summer but somehow ends up back on Yamaha. Is there not a chance at least that he was NOT out of his Yamaha contract? The only reason anyone thought he was is because he said he was. Maybe when it got down to brass tacks, Yamaha said you can ride for whatever Yamaha team you want to, but you will be on a Yamaha in 2012. Throw in the NASCAR connection with JGR and boom here we are. All this talk about JGR having what he needs....I agree, it's called NASCAR. This signing has more to do with THAT connection than any bike setup they have figured out. But the Stewgies can keep believing their hero.......has Larry got enough of his family yet?! Man, he must laugh at how gullible some of his followers are.

Yeah WEASEL, Stewart broke his wrist in that year (2010), and missed the whole season. Remember, Dungey won that year, because James wasn't there to whip him? Remember? I hope you aren't a big Stewart fan because that really isn't all that long ago to be forgetting. It does work very well for any sort of "proof" that this year will somehow be different, but fact is Stewart has gone DNF-4 in his 2 years on the new Yamaha.....with a sprinkling of an ass-whooping at Unadilla for good measure.

@B-KR maybe yamaha improofed the bike. lets not forget that they are a very very big compony so lets wait and see.i myself have a 2009 rmz with #5 stickers and thats a damm good bike.

This opened up my eyes a bit to see the real Bubba Stewart. Glad I listened to this interview cause I have a whole new outlook on him. Definitely throw him some respect for being honest in a respectful manner. Cant wait to see the more confident Stewart go for his 72 wins

I love how folks use Unadilla as a comaparison race.......RD had been racing all season and JS7 came back from a 8 month injury and still logged the fastest laptimes in practice......sure, that is only one lap, but it shows you the speed was still there...bike set up and conditioning, not so much...... Now you have guys who say Reed crashed (didnt miss any races, no injury) and that is why RD and RV beat him......So Reed is granted a free pass from a crash that RC, RV , JS7 and many others would have done the same thing ...Keep in mind RC, RV and JS7 have all had worse crashes than that and gotten right back up.....maybe not as spectacular to watch, but they have taken much harder, faster hits than Reeds crash.....easily.....so Reed has this crash to fall back on as a excuse for eternity and JS7 gets blasted for running 3rd at Unadilla after being off the bike for 8 months.....makes sense to me......2012 will be the JS7 and RV show....they will be out in front and the rest will be battling for top 5

@Killomoto--nobody blasted Stewie for getting 3rd at Unadilla in the first moto in 2010, they blasted him for quitting in the 2nd moto. And I have never seen Stewie fly 30 feet in the air during a crash, right aftyer his best friend died in a moto crash. Like what happened to Reed. Dont forget, Reed saw first hand the devastation that happens when a man dies suddendly and his family is left alone,(Mcfarlane, remember him?? Reeds best friend) And Reed has a wife and child now, so I am sure that had a huge effect on him. And personally, I think Stewie did pretty well on that trip to Unadilla that year, it was obvious he wasnt in shape and the 2nd moto was kicking his butt. My only problem, instead of him saying that, he said the bike wasnt set up right, that is why he quit. It seemed set up pretty good the first moto when he got 3rd.

The past is the past if Stewart gets his head straight and becomes a real racer again he will win he got famous he had fun but he is still fast I hope he gets serious it will make 2012 a awesome year more excitement for sure

um, bd200, i think B-KR "blasted" him for it, he is a piece of work isn't he? "Ass whooping" at Unadilla?? Nowhere near an ass whooping for popping in to do one race dude (B-KR)!! You obviously don't like him so the only thing that comes out your mouth is negativity!! Loser!! What an idiot!! You're just another blow-hard know-it-all!!

I feel a lot like BD200, I thought James rode pretty good the first moto. My problem was he had stated that he was going there to win for his fans, but he was really there to get a spot on the MXoN team. When he did't get it he quit and also didn't race the other 3 races. Why did he think he deserved a spot when he hadn't raced but 4 races total in the previous 2 years. I think Stewarts videos have nothing to do with connecting with his fans or the truth, they are all to make him look better in the public eye so he gets paid more at the end of the day.

One thing that i believe to be true is, reed of all people, hates blacks ...What in the hell happen to blacks in aussie land, duh most of you should know!((i'm white ))and i have been on stewart since the start of his ascent into the motorcycle world...Reed is a racist straight up .....

Well, i don't know if Reed is a racist or not, but i do think JS needs to keep a distance from him. James has been pretty cool about the whole JS/CR rivalry for the most part and it seems to me that Reed can't be trusted....don't befriend the guy James....just go out and whoop him! lol

Profile Picture
wrote: 11:16am November 4, 2011

C'mon now....Whether it was possible or not, Reed was looking into signing JS7 ....I am not a big fan of Reed, but calling him racist is a little over the line....I will agree that Reed seems to be a bit two-faced when it comes to Stewart.....last year he was playing the " James and I are the vet's and we are buddies lets go riding together " only to turn around and run into him like he was his worst enemy after Reed had a good race....although, Reed did the same thing to his idol MC over in europe....So maybe thats just Reed for you....One thing I have noticed over the years, is Reed loves to have his ego stroked....listening to Osterman blow Reed is nausiating

Profile Picture
wrote: 11:24am November 4, 2011

as far as Unadilla goes.....I think the "blasted" comment is meaning that folks were saying Dungey could smoke JS7 any day of the week and JS7 was done based off one day at Unadilla..... considering RD5 had been racing all season while Stewie was on the couch, for JS7 to come out, post the quickest lap time and run with those guys before fading is a sign that he will be right there in the future, no doubt......Riding a SX set up basically on a MX track was obvioulsy not working and as that track got worse it was proven to be so....James wanted to get out there and race, but obviously they needed to do more work with the bike..that thing was bouncing all over the place........he took a crack at it and pulled the plug rather than push it and perhaps crash......smart move....smarter move would have been to just stay home and focus on 2011.....

James and JGR will be a great combo I believe everyone will see the old James and if he doesnt crash out he will be number one when the years over , I love both the Ryans and Reed but the facts are the facts he still is the fastest man in supercross and motocross sorry to burst so many people bubbles !
