Nice shot guys ! I can almost smell premix in the house!
Awesome... and that fall color is cool too.
Nice toy, but not faster than the 4 strokes
i would do anything for two strokes to make a comeback, like a REAL comeback. imagine if dungey and RV2 were battling on a rm 250 and a kx 250 all summer long..........
Ah what a beautiful sound, like poetry in motion. Cool video!
kflorida- It is blatantly obvious that you have NEVER actually ridden a 2-stroke (especially like a man) because if you HAD ever rode a 2-stroke you would NEVER call it a toy. It takes 5 times the energy and 5 times the skill to ride one. Decotis makes it look easy (actually he looked incredible) but I assure you he was feeling it afterward.
Anywho, GREAT VIDEO!!! The sweet sounds of pre mix make me happy!
I never had to maintain a four stroke but I hear it is incredibly expensive. Seems like it would be a great idea to bring back the 2 smoke!!! Especially with this crappy economy. This EPA crap ruined everything!!!
What is Decotis doing in 2012? Looks like he is still wearing Geico gear so is that a sign?
was thinking the same thing about that gecio/fox gear? but man did that sound sweet he had the 125 ringin off its nut!
Jody may be old and he may be an egomaniac but he's right about one thing- if 2 strokes don't make a comback this sport is going to continue to shrink. The largest classes at virtually any track is now the vet classes. That should be a huge red flag.
Why is Jimmy riding this instead of a 4 stroke? It is way, way more fun. It sounds better and it costs a whole lot less to operate. Again, it is much more fun.
Awesome.
The 125 nationals during the mid and late 90's with Lamson, Henry, Hughes, Lusk, Huffman, Reynard, K-Dub, Swink, Mcgrath and the list goes on.
Watching those Guy's ring every last ounce of power out of the 125 2 stroke.
Never got to see one live but the video's were brilliant.
And then you add the sound and the smell.
Bring back proper racing.
Man, it sucks getting old but I have to tell you that many of us old farts got to witness so many changes in the motocross scene. There used to be Maico, Husky, Ossa, Penton, Greeves, Rickman, Zundap, Hodaka, CZ and DKW. I am sure I am missing some but they were all two strokes!!! Then came the big 4 Japanese bikes.
Then the European brands started disappearing, Then the 4 strokes came and now the racers can't afford to ride anymore!!!!
I don't think bringing back the 2 stroke will bring back Hodaka but it may bring back some racers!!!, The starting line gates seem emptier than the past.
@Johnmotoman- What no Hodakas? Thats funny! But you are right about our distant past. I was thinking as I was looking at vintage bikes, is that they all had a character of there own, like old cars. Todays modern motocrossers come in orange, yellow, red, green and blue. Like how new cars all look like peanuts. I have and owned many current bikes, but nothing beats the looks of old 2 stroker. On the other hand I will have to admit my CRF rides and handles far better and won't beat me up like the old relics of the past. Ya baby bring back the Hodaka Super Rat! ha ha
I've been a 4-stroke rider since 2004 but my next bike is a 2-stroke, and probably a KTM because they are the only ones left putting development into theirs.
lol "that thing sounds like shit, not like the reliable honda over here!" Nice one JD rofl
Keep the 2 stroke vids coming! Every pro should do a 2 stroke edit. Thanks Decotis!
@CZmark Don't tell me you think your new bike handles better than an ol Greeves with leading link suspension!!! I saw one at Pala and boy, did it bring back Gary Bailey memories!!! Oh yeah, I forgot Bultaco!!! Kenny Zarht and Steve Rapp!!!
@ kflorida, I am sorry but 2-strokes are faster than 4 strokes, do you think a 250 2 stroke is slower than a 250 four stroke? The dispacement was doubled for the 4 stroke cuz the AMA and a few others didn't think they would have a chance..A 2 stroke motor is way better for racing if the cc's were matched, A lot cheaper to rebuild etc... I am only 40 but have been racing since the 70's and the moto scene has changed way to much, nobody at the local level can afford the up keep of 4 strokes that's why this sport is hurting and why the VET classes are so big now...we are established and have money, your average 17 yr old cannot afford a 8K dirt bike....Anyhoo blah blah blah....Wait tell the kids grow up and get off 85cc and jump to a 250F, your racing expense just quadrupled!...Mitch Payton said himself when 4 stroke came around his racing budget went up 4 times...........F 4 strokes....... my 2 cents
Great VID by the way thanks Decotis :)
love to hear those 125's sing...especially when one is being rung out by a pro. Bring'em back!
Brettmx33 - I grew up on 2 strokes, 80, 100, 125, 175, 250, 370, 450, and 500, so unless you can read minds, or have mental telepathy, your comments seem to be a little retarded. You probably have a 4 wheeler.
awesome vid.
To anyone saying "2 strokes are slow, blah blah blah" I'll kindly point you to this video: http://youtu.be/7o0aHp6HezQ
That is what mx is all about. A 125 pinned, never shut off and let it dance around under full power. I'm a Jimi-D fan now. Good luck and good video shoot.
My favorite 125cc vid!!!! His corner spreed is insane!!!!
