Official PR: TLD Signs Colton Facciotti

Wednesday, August 31, 2011 | 1:50 PM
We never like to see one of our own get hurt. Christian Craig’s injury from Southwick was heartbreaking for the whole team and we are doing everything we can to support him during his rehabilitation. In his absence, three-time Canadian national champion, Colton Facciotti will be joining the team and taking a swing at American motocross glory.

Facciotti came south on his own dime last weekend and posted a solid fifth place in the opening moto in Massachusetts. Anyone who has seen the tall, Canadian rider in his element can attest to his talent and raw speed. The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team recognizes that and, with a bike available, is excited to give Colton an opportunity to show his skills on the sports biggest stage.

“I’m looking forward to the last couple rounds and seeing how Colton can do,” says Troy Lee, the team’s owner. “I love to see a kid that is hungry to make it happen and I see that fire in him. I think he is going to surprise a lot of people who haven’t followed his career. The kid is fast.”

Colton is anxious to for this weekend too.

“I’m pumped to get the opportunity to ride for TLD,” says Colton. Adding, “It’s always been a dream of mine since I was little to get on one of the elite teams in the US and hopefully I can do them proud and get some good results.”

If you are heading to Steel City this weekend or the Pala National the following weekend, be sure to keep an eye out for Colton Facciotti. If we’re right, you might just find him at the front of the pack.

TLD would like to thank all of our team sponsors: Lucas Oil, American Honda, PPG, Red Bull, SillyBrandz Global, Adidas, Specialized, BioLytical Labs, Dunlop, McQueen Racing, VQ OrthoCare, Shock Doctor, Skullcandy, Renthal, Oakley, Alpinestars, Pro Circuit, Primm MX Collection, Couts Heating & Cooling, Selle Italia, N-Style, VP Racing Fuels, Boyesen, ODI, DID, Rossignol, Pacific Collision Centers, Muc-Off, Kasey Kahne, Elrod Racing, New Era, Leatt, Cycra, Hammerhead, Hinson, Light Speed, Moto Tassinari, Twin Air, Talon, QTM, and EPIC Action Camera.

This guy's been dominant up here in Canada for a while now. Great to see him get a chance....he's fast and with a little luck over these next two races he may very well get a full-time ride......Go Colton!!!!

I never really followed the kid much but being northern state minesota here i remember JSR coming down to millville and killing it, holshot and podiumed here. that was quite some time ago but i was like hey maybe the Canadian Series can really race so took a lil interest in it and watched JSR dominate and then Klatt came along and took a shot over here in US on a big team and that kind of failed, few injurys, w.e. just never clicked so would time to time check Faccioti out on the computer on tsn and the guy was killing it, killing klatt, who ever rode with him and my ol man JSR is grooming this kid and i been thinking, hell hes guna pass his prime soon, i knoqw he raced mini's against villipoto and im saying, right circumstances this guy can podium a moto here, great start, strong ride, dosent even have to be great but maybe few guys having some issues and hes guna do it, this guy needs to land an american ride. theres no doubt the canadian series is becoming pretty competitive and heres the one who diminates it. He needs a real chance on some real equipment, the TLD Honda could be it.

Private Gibson 442. You nailed it. Good reply... I am a mechanic for a team up here (in canada) and I worked at Blackfoot while Colton was there in 2009... He was dominating motos in 2009 like he did this summer, he took a while to get used to the new Yamaha, but this past summer he had it all figured out. Winning by over a minute on some occasions.

The Blackfoot bikes are on par with the non factory bikes in AMA, I can vouch for that.

Troy Lee made a good choice.

I was so pumped with his 5th place finish! I can't wait to see what he can do out of the sand. I remember last year I went to the Canadian Nationals in Edmonton. He was way out in front and ran out of gas near the finish line. He had time to push his bike to the mechanic area, fuel up and go without anyone catching up. He still beat Klatt by about 1/4 lap. Facciotti destroys in Canada it's really good to see him get a chance in the AMA series. I'll be routin for him every race! Go Fat-yotes!!!!

Darkstar, Dusty had a bike failure in that moto you mention and Colton came in as a precaution as it was not known why Dusty's bike failed with 2 laps to go. Dusty DNF'd and scored no points.

That being said it was becoming old hat to see Colton beating the field by 45 seconds and moto. Time for him to move on and take his speed to the next level as no one up here is giving him any challenge right now.

"On the third lap of the opening practice Christian Craig crashed on the finish line jump and the subsequent contact with the sand would mark the end of Christian's summer. He suffered a fractured scaphoid bone (navicular) in the crash and he will likely undergo surgery this week to repair it. Despite the low moments it has been a good summer for Craig and the TLD team is proud to have him in their camp. From everyone at Troy Lee Designs: Heal up quickly, Christian! "
