Wins by 30sec - Calls guy over - Runs his mouth - starts fight - loses the fight. After all this what does big bad Ryno say when he gets up out of the dirt?

Would you pay to have your kid to go to a Ryan Hughes MX class after seeing that from a 40yr. old man? Imagine how he acts with events that actually mean something in life? The guy has the emotional capacity of a 12yr old. This was a "who cares" vet race or what ever this crap was??
A week ago this video would have been cool. Now it's just a video of an immature idiot who deserves to lose any sponsors he has.

My favorite part was that Lapaglia was rooting for the fight and never took off his helmet or goggles. Priceless. I like Ryno even more now!
You guys gotta be kidding me. Fight was dumb for sure but people make mistakes and both he and Mike messed up. Funny how much you can know- assume about someone from one video. Ryno helps so many people in so many ways. The public doesnt see that part. Doesn't make what happened right but come on, we know how crazy things can get after a heated battle in our sport. You can talk all the smack you want about Ryno, but the fact of the matter is he's living his own dream, supporting a family comfortably and will wax any of your sorry a$$es on the track.
Sure tempers flared, but they handled it and it's over. $hit happens ladies. It happens in Nascar, F1, GPs, MX, Football, Baseball and just about any damn sport that involves man vs. man. You're acting as if this is some anomoly. I'm suprised it doesn't happen more often in MX. It probably does, we just don't have full video of it to cluck like a bunch of girls around the water cooler.
Maybe ice skating is a better option for some of you sissies.

@ Tigolebitties I agree, Ryno will wax 99% of folks, but when he gets off the track running his mouth and challenges Lapaglia to a fight... he gets waxed. Then douche gets up like a girl and cries foul, when it was obvious he instigated the whole thing.

Have always liked Hughes but that behavior from a guy selling in the business is pretty sad. Had my 17 yr old done that I would have blown a gasket. Hard to fathom from a 40 yr old, especially when Hughes won the race.
I noticed in the opening of his training video a couple weeks ago he referenced "all you keyboard jockeys runnng your mouths off" at the start as an insult. Kind of ironic now don't you think? Hypocrite seems to fit this situation.

The fact that ryno will wax 99% of us isn't the point.. lol when your life consists of personal training and a riding coach, he is expected to be faster than everyone.. The fact of the matter is his workouts are over rated and he acts like a damn kid.. There are absolutely no excuses for the way he carried himself in Mammoth. Jesus how would it look if Mcgrath got in a fight with some dude that doesn't race anymore lol... I sincerely hope that he looses business
Man used to think Ryno was just a tough gritty guy. Now I know he is just a girtty loser. Fighting a young guy like that with camera's around all those fans at a local race is just nuts. At this stage in his life so unprofessional...
I don't know why anyone would call that a fight. That was a sad excuse of attempted manliness... Running at someone with your head down is never a good idea either.
Lapaglia admitted that it was his mistake and had regrets in getting that things worse... Ryno had told him what he has to say and the only mistake Ryno made was taking off his helmet...
If the sport were hockey rather than MX, the conversation would be totally different.
I've read these posts less and less because I find that many (most?) on here only know how to find fault with people who have actually accomplished things in this sport (or at least the ones they don't like), whereas their greatest achievement is fooling themselves into thinking they've added something by making their negative comments. It says so much more about you than it does about the person you're bashing. But you may be so angry that you can't even recognize it. That's a damn shame.

you know who needs to open a mx school. MIKE BROWN. he will kick ryno, mcgrath and any old fellow at riding hands down. the dude is 38 and was contesting with the top 12 racers in the world at budds. i mean some of the guys behind him are like extreamley hard working 22 year olds. I dont care what anyone sys he would win the 35+ class at lorettas hands down no matter who else would be in his class.
@self154. I generally agree with you but this time I must disagree. We all know the background and accomplishments of Hughes. He us a public figure in the business.
However, you do not know what we posting do or have accomplished. Many us us are way more educated than Hughes, make more money than him, and conduct ourselves in a more mature manner. Based upon the very criteria you have established, doesn't that give us with higher accomplisments than Hughes the right to be critical? A thought.
I am always willing to cut people a break but that was simply childish behavior which cannot be justified.

Everyone knows that when your in a fight with a guy wearing a helmet the object is to try and spin the helmet backwards on his head. Grab and twist it helps if you unlock your hips though. I do like Ryno's videos though but I prefer them when the femcrosser is wearing yoga pants....Its a matter of preference.
I don't think Ryno is proud of what he did, nor is he sorry for what transpired either. Lots of people are dogpiling the guy because of an indiscretion by a public figure. Not many folks are even acknowledging Lapaglia's part in this sorry excuse for a drama. Lapaglia & Ryno both shrugged it off as blowing off steam so, why can't any of the people that are so critical of this?

yes. this is blown out of proportion. what I see in the video is a much smaller ryno tossing this guy to the ground with athourity.then they roll over and mike has ryno in a headlock, then it's broken up. If this is some of your opinions of a fight you must all be city boys. Around here we put up the octagon and fight til the opponant is unable to crawl out on his own, that would be a fight. These two were just settling some bad blood from the past it would seem. disrespectful-yes but it happens. No big deal. Get out the cage. Show that video, and we would have some entertainment!!!

To carlsbad and all the other ryno nut likkers...the guy is a former mxdn rider,factory rider racing in a local race..then when the camera is rolling ...trys to be a big shot...starts calling the guy m@ther fer etc..camera is still rolling..then he gets off his bike just because ML points out that he never paid his debt..and then starts a fight..then he gets whipped...embarassing to say the least.But he is a public figure..everyone who owns a bizness is especially when the bizness has your name in the title...so he is held accountable..deal with the consequences ..he looks stupid for bragging about winning..he looks stupid for swearing and picking a fight..he looks stupid for losing fight..and he looks stupid for trying to blame ML..and he is lucky that he didnt get his face punched in..if he called me a MF"R he wouldnt be making any more videos ..except faces of death part 7..lol

Ryno's so called apology was just another commercial. The guy is all about himself and nothing more. His true colors came out over this incident. His like "me or leave me" attitude stinks for someone who is trying to gain business. I leave him, there are many more trainers out there who don't train people to fight, like Jessica Patterson.

@ Carlsbad. Rare I disagree with you but I am going to post one more time to clarify.
Look at the Great Outdoors 2003 season. Hughes did the same exact thing with Mike Brown, but had the good sense to not throw a punch at Brown. In that season he races with a "broken leg" which Hughes references repeatedly to show how tough he is. In my Transworld Motocross Ryan Hughes Riding Tips video (yes I liked Hughes) he brags how due to his superior training he "never broke a bone" in his motocross career. Hummmm.
Josh Hansen had the good sense to make a sincere apology to Eli Tomac at the end of SX for the takeout move which was just a racing incident. When Hughes as a 38 yr old looks way less mature than Josh Hansen, time to re-evaluate.
@JonR290 - As for what "we posting do or have accomplished," I didn't realize that one's "accomplishments" give license to spend one's time bashing others. But obviously that's the mindset out here (accomplishments or not) and that's what I dislike so much. Plus, this is a MOTO site, so as far as accomplishments, I'm pretty sure none of these posters are in the same league as Ryno. Clearly, Hughes' style is not for everyone, but for those who are serious about improving their game, he's had the results to hang his hat on. (The transformation of JP$ is amazing.) What I'm saying is if more people spend their time working on their own sh&t (first recognizing it), and using this site for what it is, a place to read about a sport you presumably "enjoy" (you'd never know it from all the bashing), we'd all be a lot happier people.
