Sign Of The Lap Times: Budds Creek

Tuesday, June 21, 2011 | 10:20 AM
Round four of the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championship from Budds Creek brought more storylines than wood to a woodchuck party. Villopoto's impressive Budds Creek win streak is gone. Chad Reed proved once again he is a beast in the second moto. Justin Barcia fought threw mono to grab his first podium of the year. And we finally found someone to hold onto the red plate in the Lites class for more than a week. But you will read plenty about the racing throughout the week, so let's get to the lap charts, brought to you by Motion Pro.

450 Class
Moto 1

10 10 2:09.176 3 2:12.854 Josh Grant

In moto one it was the Villopoto show, as he extended his win streak at Budds Creek with an almost flawless performance. Although he did stall his bike late in the race, which hurt on style points. But Villopoto was on a mission and picked up his pace late to outlast Dungey. He also set the fastest lap of the moto with a 2:01.623 on lap four.

In the second moto it was Ryan Dungey setting the tone early as he gave Chad Reed all he could handle and more. Dungey was unable to find that extra little bit to make a move, but he can take solace in being the fastest man in the second moto. He threw down a 2:04.595 on lap four to take the top spot.

Eli Tomac showed a glimpse of the kid that came onto the scene last year and won his first career race. Although he finished fifth in moto one at Budds Creek he did set the fastest lap of the moto with a 2:06.624 on lap five.

In the second moto it was Tomac's teammate Justin Barcia setting the track on fire while he chased down Tyla Rattray for the win. Barcia would come up shy of the victory but would set the fastest lap of the moto with a 2:06.474 on lap six.

Man to bad RV had the chits in moto 2

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 10:27am June 21, 2011

RV had 5 laps that were faster than anyone elses best one lap time. I think we will see a lot more of that too.

.Whats up with Tomac? took the whole 2nd moto to get by Malcolm!! I figured he would be up front all year and he is not doing it.

It's odd that Dean Wilson, winner of the 250 moto one was not in the top ten on the lap charts for that moto. Is that a first??

RV's moto 2 average was slower because he was carrying an extra load !!

My wish for the 22, 2, 800 and 1 getting top 5 starts in moto 1 came thru and RV took the win convincingly passing 22 and 800 and keeping the 1 at bay.....When Reed starts out front he stays there (awesome holeshot wallpaper by the way, Reed loves that Honda) but if he is 3rd or further back, he seems to have bad motos....especially if RV or Dungey are pulling away....it has happened two weeks in a row and mother nature and bodily functions wont strike every second moto

Watching CR22 or RD1 lead is BORING. RD1 could not put an aggressive pass on anyone if his life depended on it(how long is that guy going to ride on CR22 back tire?). Both CR22 and RD1 never seem like they are pushing it to the edge, they are both sorta girly that way.

I remember reading on here from the of the RV Nutsuckers how bad RV was gonna school, and demolish the field!!!!! Some even said thay couldn't wait till Monday to start kissin his b@@lls.
Then (at HIS track) (Undefeated till Sat.) he doesn't seal the deal. I've heard his excuse, and its like Reed a few years ago always havin an excuse.
Now Reed has finally decided to just tell it like it is, so theres hope for Villo to do the same sometime.
All you Reed lovers, that luv to bash JS7 for being such a punk b!tch, for not racin outdoors, Well ur rider also skipped outdoors racing for the same team for several yrs. so don't be a hypocrite now. I guess u hated Reed then but we can expect u to flip again in the future.
Tommy Hahn was on it and feeling it until that little get off.
GO DUNGEY
Barcia has mono???? Yeah Right!

I think RV and RD are scared of Reedy. Dungey could have made a pass on CR but hey CR is on top of his game and he knows that the Ryans are afraid of him. They are faster than Reedy its just a mental thing.

I agree jairtime. pple just hate on JS7 now bcoz he isnt given them what they what. i.e. racing. Once JS7 comes back and starts winning then they love him again. HOW about MAlcolm getting top 6 in moto 2 but he is no where on the lap times. Darryn Durham and Malcolm need a factory ride

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 12:43pm June 21, 2011

RV is going to take a duce before the race then whoop em this weekend..........problem solved. Bike set-up, illness, and potty issues behind him he will surge mid season and it will be too much for the others. I'm watching it live in person at Thunder Valley.....can't wait to see RV put the smackdown.

Jamin George wrote: 1:44pm June 21, 2011

On the JS7 comments I don't hate him BUT it's nice to hole motos without JS7
taking out someone else because he's not in control.
As far as anyone being afraid. None of them are afraid except for JS7 crashing on them. You don't get this far being afraid.

Great racing hope they all stay healthy!

Profile Picture
jairtime suks wrote: 1:55pm June 21, 2011

@dgizzy, I'm glad u agree w/me, just make sure u call me "jairtime suks" and not jairtime as there is a big difference between the two us as I'm sure jairtime would agree.
To Jamin George, why don't u call out Barcia for crashing and ending Marvin Musquins season at Freestone. U see JS crashed and JT Money got hurt but raced a few wks later, JS crashed and Windham raced a week later and no one lost there whole season, so man up and call out a rider who crashed and ruined another riders ENTIRE season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, thats right, I have a point but ur not a Barcia hater, just a JS7 hater.

It seems like "hating" is all they want to do. My rider is better than your rider ...lol... your rider is lame, my rider is the bestest bester of all besting....

Racer X, should honestly close the comments section...there is a seriously disturbing percentage of fans here that absolutely destroy the credibility of MX fans everywhere.

Hey, I love Villopoto, but he too is fair game for a few jokes:

Q: Where did Villopoto say he was going after the second moto at Budds Creek?

A: To the dump!

Q: What does Villopoto and his Kawasaki have in common?

A: They both wear #2!

Q: Why didn't Villopoto win the overall at Budds Creek?

A: He was under tremendous pressure.

Q: Did you hear about Villopoto's new title sponsor?

A: Depends!

Q: What's the difference between Villopoto and Stewart?

A: With Villopoto, the feces is riding in the back!

Just messin'...Villopoto is still my favorite! No sh*t!

I do appreciate how honest he was about it, and I think a doctor should do an article on Racer X about the dangers of large bowel perforation under such conditions, and the need to listen to your body.

My boy Dungey needs a shrink, a witch doctor or Dr Phil for cryin out loud. The Lap charts say the dude should be winning, he has had one bad moto when the bike quit or he would be 3 pts back. He's like a fighter pilot with target lock on and just can't push the button when it comes to passing Reed.

If he called up the man and asked him for advice RD (The Man that is) would tell him to punt that Aussie off the track and roost his other collarbone.

The Ryan's have and show the speed to win all these moto's. One needs to show up on an empty stomach and the other one needs to be slapped in the face by his mechanic wearing a # 22 Shift jersey before the start of each moto.

Go get this title boys, you are making me eat crow and it taste like......a bad second moto?

Profile Picture
LawnDart wrote: 6:53pm June 21, 2011

Be careful eating crow. It can lead to some mid-moto sharts. Just ask RV.

ElsinoreRacer wrote: 7:34pm June 21, 2011

"In the second moto it was Ryan Dungey.... gave Chad Reed all he could handle and more." Well, apparently RD gave Reed slightly LESS than he could handle, yes? RD could never pass Reed and even dropped back late. Thus, it would be more accurate to say "Reed handled RD's pressure and then some." In any event, Reed certainly handled everything thrown at him as he won.

Yo Red54M, I agree Dungey needs to get a little more agressive. But, if his bike didn't run out of fuel at texas, he would be tied for the points lead with Reed right now. He would've picked up 25 points, Reed would have lost 3. I'm loving this season, Reed and Dungey are my guys.
