HOLESHOT! Beautiful little bike. Very nice resto.
Beautiful Bike! Great craftmanship and attention to detail. Wish I were 10 again and able to let this rip!
Stone cold wicked machine. Those were the good old days.
Those were the days when we taught kids how to use a clutch.
Awesome job! Elsinores rock! Who did your tank? I would love to have a tank built for mine like that.
That's one smooth MR50. Back when they came out I wanted one for a pit bike, but every dime had to go into my racing effort. Too bad they didn't trick them out to the extent that the current minimotos are modified, and race them like that.
Thats a Reddddddddd Budddddder Grass Racer fo sho.........
Hey guys, i'm Trent Hunter, me and my pops, Terry Hunter, restored this bike earlier this year, i'm only 20 years old but after this build I can teach many others on how trick these things really are and I wish i could have raced one of these 50's growing up as a kid! The 74/75 MR's are just a scaled down replica of a Works CR 125 if you ask me, they're very neat and are a blast to throw around in a grass field as mentioned above! Thanks for the awesome feedback, hope everyone enjoys having a look at this mini works bike, we are very pumped on how the bike turned out!
Trick lil red racer guys! Thanks fer sharing!!
Best looking lil' MR50 ever! Should make Marty Smith smile big...
Maybe it's the angle of your photo's but how big is that 'beefy' looking rear tire? Seems like a smaller one would help in putting down the power with less HP loss due to tire size/weight.
Any other photos available (Photobucket, flickr, etc.?)
Beautiful, beautiful work. Need two of 'em for my 6 yr. olds...
This was my little bro's first bike. Bulletproof for it's generation. I figure my brother logged in about 10,000 miles at Indian Dunes and Dove Springs. Poor bastard actually thought at some point he'd catch up to me on my YZ125 (monoshock).
Great fun, great memories.
Racers are just good people...
When I was 12 the local Honda shop parked one of these in the front window.....
left a lot of nose prints and drool marks on that window.
Ro Rattray!
That's a cool machine right there... I have two 1976 MR-250's that need to be done over. Some day...
My younger brothers had one and an XR75. In winter, put sheet metal screws in the center and left side of the knobs, laid a couple cones out on the old farm pond. Maybe the most fun I ever had on a bike, as an MXer it pains me to say. It was a 3 speed, right? Guess I am nuts, but thought it had an automatic clutch. Vaguely remember that besides removing the throttle restriction, there was an exhaust tab in the header section of the pipe that uncorked it.
Best "collection" piece ive seen on here in a while for sure. I cant believe all the custom fab you did for the machine.... great work! I think racerX should do a "Collections" top 10 ...... i know this hand crafted marvel would make the list.
Man... this was my very first bike. Whats funny is it was also my first time with a clutch. The first time i rode it, i grabbed a handfull of throttle, popped the clutch and ghost rode it right into my Moms brand new Smokey and the Bandit era Trans-Am Firebird. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
I had the same bike and then moved to the 82' KX 80. Great seeing these all restored. Good job!
