Now that he's in the system, we can expect history to repeat itself.

I think he's learned his lesson from this. I also think it was the company he was with that day also had an influence on him. Hopefully he gets his head together, back to racing, that he puts all the pressures of being expeted to win aside, and and has fun racing again. That is the key. Look at chad this year, he is racing with no pressure, but for the fun of riding and look at the season he is having. I know he has his haters, and I have never been a Stewart fan (always rooted for RC) but we all have to admit that he is exciting to watch and racing is better with him out there.

the law, whatever type of law it is, was made to exist for a purpose. When do people ever screw up when making laws? There haven't been unjust laws in america. Changing the law isn't american. Flags, ships, and navy seals are american.

slaveson, the update is that he was, in fact, charged with a felony. Earlier, there were those Stewtardians who tried to say it was a misdemeanor, when the laws I read indicated that it was a felony.

The way I figure it, Jailmes Cellwart will push the blame on his friend who was with him, his friend will get paid off to take a fall to save James' ass, just like James used his teammate as a berm to stuff Chad Reed into him during the SX series, and Jailmes Cellwart will fool the judge and jury into thinking that he was innocent and that the police lights belonged to Jailmes' friend. With all his money, he'll probably pay off the cops, lawyers, judge, bail bondsman and his friend until everybody enjoys a healthy profit, then he'll get off easy and his friend will be the one charged with a felony. His friend, being loyal and more concerned with Jailmes' career than his own life, will be miserable for a long time.

Like he said on Bubba's World today, "Racing is just an afterthought." That explains a lot of things. That's what he thinks of the spectators. They're an afterthought too. His main thoughts are gibs me dat thoughts, and maybe thinking who he can pull over, intimidate and abuse with illegal use of police lights. There was a time when I thought he was special, but now I clearly see that he is so common.

This incident is just a symptom of why James will go down in the annals of MX history as the greatest underperformer of all time. He's got the talent, but lacks the focus. His titles won will be woefully short at the end of 'what could have been'. Shame, but he's having fun, doing what he wants to and you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Profile Picture
Ken Elliott wrote: 8:30am June 4, 2011

The local news (cfnews13) say James purchased the lights from a flea market. That could be construed to show intent.

There was a guy pretending to be a cop, who would use police-style lights to pull girls over, then rape them. This created a huge problem for cops, since the ladies couldn't be sure if they were really cops. So you can be pretty sure they want to make an example of JS.

It was a stupid thing for JS to do, and he did it at the worse possible place. I can't say I'm a fan, but I admire his ability and love to watch him ride. This could be the wake-up call for JS, and he could come back super focused for next year. Time is running out, and it would be a shame if he spends his last few competitive years in jail.

Profile Picture
bigtireguy wrote: 8:45am June 4, 2011

I now understand why he wasn't "ready" to go outdoors. I am NOT a JS7 fan, but this is bad for everyone involved in our sport, because of his exposure, it slights what 99% of us stand for. I Hope he straightens up and handles this. Then he can get back to racing. Or retire and do his TV shows. Just correct your stupid behavior.

Profile Picture
Open Class wrote: 9:29am June 4, 2011

Please, please, please do not make excuses for js and his behavior. That is ridiculous.

That is just a self absorbed "story" you tell yourself to make you feel better about wanting to like him. If you can give him a an excuse for the bad behavior you can feel better about yourself for supporting him.

Truly try and see his collective actions and you will see that he does not respect or care about the sport that has made him wealthy, or the racers who he competes against.

I do not think any athlete is, or should ever, greater than the sport they compete. You have to maintain the integrity of the sport for it to continue to compete for the entertainment dollars.

It is unfortunate that the majority of the people today just subscribe to the "it's all about me" mentality.

Nobody is above the law, and considering the murders that has happened, with people impersonating officers, this is not funny. I just hope he will understand he made a mistake, feel bad about it and learn from it, so we can get him racing. I cant say i care if he races or not, so he needs to do it for himself, not for "me".

I bet if it were any other rider than James , You morons could care less, You all are just looking for an excuse , to hate , what a bunch of P#%^ys. It was a stupid prank , thats all , Quit pretending its was more than that . You all are just embarassing yourselves.. This whole impersonating a cop thing was started by the cops themselves, back when they started using mustangs that everyone drove , as unmarked cars , I would never pull over for any car other than a MARKED police car ... I blame the COPS for stating this TREND . IN the end James will be fine , Still fast , and still RICH ... 40 WINS AND COUNTING , Now F#$k Off

According to your post, Or opinion, its the Police' fault??? They MADE James buy a red/blue dash light and commit a FELONY? OK, now its the "blame others because we are too stupid to make smart common-sense decisions for ourselves because we can ride a motorcycles and are wealthy" card. you, my friend, IMO, are an Idiot!!

Anybody who is criminal-minded enough to think that Jailmes Cellwart's FELONY is just some dork playing a prank can feel free to Google serial killer imitating police and find some interesting stories.

Anybody who would imagine that James Stewart isn't capable of doing the exact same thing is living with blinders on. The police and the legal system is giving this case due diligence in finding out what his intent might be. I would be shocked if he actually is a lunatic murderer, but look at the FBI crime stats online to see that James Stewart is much more likelyl to commit violent crime than you or I.

As for Ryan Mills, he's a POS, and I posted that he should be hung for stealing people's race bikes and breaking and entering and stealing, and that he should be buried under the jail that James Stewart should be sitting in right now. Ryan Mills is not what this thread is about, so let's just stick to the serial murderer and rapist, shall we?

Simply labeling realists as "haters" won't stop our voices and won't change our message. With great fame comes great responsibility. When you represent motocross, you carry a lot of weight on your shoulders. I don't really give a damn about how fast some FELON is, he can kiss my ass if he's going to live a life of crime and I don't respect him as a person OR as a rider.

@Jaws

It is people like you who are responsible for stuff like this happening. No matter how you want to look at it, what Stewie did was against the law, "prank" or not, and he should be held accountable for his actions. That's the problem with people today. They are not held responsible for the actions they take or they decisions they make, and I am actually glad to see that Stewart is being treated the same as you or I would be treated had we done the same thing. Nobody is above the law. Period.

BUBBA GETS A REPRIEVE: STATE ATTORNEY’S OFFICE DECIDES NOT TO PROSECUTE THE SUPERCROSS STAR.
As you would expect for a first-time offender, James Stewart will not go to court on his “impersonating a police officer” charge

Florida prosecutors decided that there was not enough evidence against James Stewart to proceed with the case against him (which legal experts claim is not only airtight, but includes a confession). Stewart was arrested earlier in the year after authorities said he flashed red and blue police lights at a car on the freeway (the car just happened to contain two off-duty highway patrol troopers and an off-duty deputy). Stewart was arrested and his truck was seized. The state attorney's office said there isn't enough evidence to move forward, but the Florida State Trooper's want their legal team to review the decision.

A prime example of the continued dumbing down of America. Star-struck dorks believe the celebrities and the rich should be allowed a free pass while us commoners have a much stricter set of rules to live by. Seems fair. Ask Emig how "easy" he got off on his little incident.

Profile Picture
slarveson wrote: 2:52pm June 4, 2011

Here's the facts:

1) It was obviously just a stunt trying to be funny...that should be taken into consideration regardless of who it was who did it.

2) If the person who commited the act (James obviously, but no matter who it was in this type of situation) has a criminal record than they should get a harsher punishment than someone who does not have a criminal record.

3) All the people wanting james to get punished just want him punished because they don't like him for whatever the reasons. Anyone with any sort of common sense will realize that this act was all in fun in games and was relatively harmless...that should also be taken into consideration.

4) Punishing James will only be a waste of taxpayers money because James is obviously NOT a menace to society or someone that anyone should be afraid of in any way shape or form

Therefore, why give him anything more than a fine? They probably already took his 50,000 dollar truck away so shouldn't that be enough? Yes he did break the law but what were his intentions? Just give him a fine and if he commits a similar act in the future then he should be punished more severely.

Those who say it was a prank and those who say it was a felony are both right. But playful mischief by any other name is still playful mischief (and vice versa, if you're a glass-half-empty kind of guy).

Fine him $15. Charge him with a felony. I don't give a shit. In no way will the outcome of this case affect what I think of James Stewart. Pretending that you're riding outdoors "for the fans"--and then proving your critics right when you pull out--is a much clearer indication of the kind of person someone is.

I'm a loyal JS7 fan, He's one bad dude on two wheels and the funny part is whether you love him or hate him, once again he's proved that he draws attention! Look at all these comments on the guy....some of you are blubbering idiots who obviously believe that you are holier than thou...But no matter how much you say you don't care...obviously you do or you wouldn't even have clicked the article. I don't click articles that contain news on Chad Reed.....Because I don't care!! I'm a James Stewart fan....plain and simple! Damn proud of it may I add! I have a great picture of he and I hanging in my living room along with an autographed number plate that he signed for me. He's the alltime wins leader in the lights class, 3rd alltime behind RC and MC in the premier class and he's only 25. Say what you want but I'd say he has a pretty accomplished career and if he hangs the boots up today I could live with that because I know every time the gate drops he puts 110 percent into it and to me THAT's a CHAMPION! You may call him an under acheiver but he has won every title that a rider could ever win in MX and SX, how many other riders can you name that has accomplished that?? I can name a few and they are all LEGENDS of this sport! Whether you racist, ego maniacs can handle it or not, James will never be forgotten in this sport, his legacy will be talked about forever and true motocross fans can't deny that at one point in time, he was the FASTEST man to ever swing a leg over an MX bike, that's straight from the mouth of Ricky Carmichael so I have a hard time seeing you haters point of view that are denying that! Just like comparing Mike Tyson to Mohammed Ali, they were both great for THEIR generation! You can't compare past and present, Since 2005 James has been the man to beat and if his time is up, then his time is up. Every racer faces it eventually! You can't win em all and you can't be the Fastest Man on the Planet forever but there was a time that James was! I still believe he is but sometimes the chip don't always fall in your favor. So keep on chirping haters, I'm sure James loves the attention, doesn't everybody love attention??

I only believe they are taking such actions since he is celebrity, I use to live in south florida (ft.lauderdale), when I was 18 we had some police lights, flashed them and had some dude pull over a cop saw and pulled us over gave us a "stern warning" and let us be on our way. Honestly he was just trying to have some fun he never introduced himself as law enforcement or even "stopped" his vehicle, just think they are trying to make an example of him enough said. People need to stop bringing these riders personal lives into their careers.

He's too old to being doing this dumb shit. I've never been a Stewart fan, mostly because of his excuses when he loses a race. He never admits it when he's beaten, which isn't very often. So Stewart got a reprieve for a lack of evidence, huh?

I guess when three cops bust you in the act and they find your red and blue lights in the vehicle, that's not evidence.

What the hell are cops good for if what they witness is inadmissible in court?

What's the use of a confession if it's ignored by the court?

What's the use of evidence (police lights) if it's going to be called "not enough evidence?"

This is why they get away with so much crime, I guess.

Well, that and some under the table payoffs by somebody with deep pockets.

On days like this, I'm utterly disgusted with certain tendencies of our legal system to allow the predators to get over on the victims.

James made a stupid mistake he thought it was gangster or hip hop or street cool. he hangs around the wrong crowd like a rock star or a boxer, or some hip hop star. not a Supercross racer, maybe he will grow up some day. he is fast superfast, but if your head is not in it you are fastest to the ground and he has proved that, the last couple of years and if he does not wake up he will get hurt real bad and no one wants to see that

Aside from Jairtime, I have not seen any comments here hating on Bubba for his skin color. Some of you white people on here throw around the word "racist" like it is the worst thing in the world. I know lots or rednecks that are not racist, and neither am I, However, I would much rather be called a racist than a FELON.

So if I say anything negative about Obama, does that make me a racist too? Hardly. I hate his white half just as much as I hate his black half, but not because of his skin color. I hate his policies and what he is done to this country.

As far as Bubba goes, I dislike him for a lot of reasons, and just like Obama, they have nothing to do with skin color but everything to do with CHARACTER.

I have been on the track with him a few times and he never took me out. I don't hate him for being different colored skin than me and I think most people don't either. Put your white guilt away and look at his actions.

He is fast.
He is unfocussed.
He is arrogant.
He is dangerous to others on the track (Preston, Partridge etc)
He whines and makes excuses.
He is a FELON.

Just add up the list above. There is a lot more to dislike about the man than to like about him. Color has nothing to do with it.

So now can we please quit badmouthing rednecks?

How is it that I am justifying a "redneck behavior'? Name one thing I said that was racist? In my industry I deal with all races of people all of the time and I like all sorts of people and it has nothing at all to do with their skin color. Do I need to repeat that? Bubba had even said a few years ago himself, "We all look the same with our gear on". Usually the only people that are true racists are the ones with guilt over their own skin color or heritage, or those looking for an excuse as to why they themselves are not as successful as they think they should be and are looking to blame someone else for their failings and they can use racism as their crutch.

Just because I hate Obama (he killed my industry) and I don't like Bubba, that makes me a racist? Well what do you have to say that I actually like Malcom? He doesn't trash talk and he doesn't take out other riders and he is not a FELON.

Does that still make me a racist? Name one thing I said that was racist? If anyone is stuck on race it is you and people like you that see racism everywhere they go because of their own chip on their shoulder. I may be a redneck ( I own guns, dirt bikes, live in the boonies etc.) but that does not by any means make me a racist. You call me a racist in front of my wife who happens to be from the Philippines and she will tear off your head and sh@t down your neck.

Now go to bed because you have school in the morning. Let the adults talk.

Mike, name one thing I said that is racist...Just one thing? I never said "I hate Bubba because he is black", or "Obama because he is black" . People seriously need to get thicker skin (of any color!) and get off the racism bandwagon. In reality it has been dead and gone for a long time. People need to be able to stand on their own merits and not have a bunch of adolescent keyboard warriors taking up the cause of Martin Luther King Jr. when they have zero facts, and zero point of reference. Period.

Bubba is a FELON. He is an arrogant punk. He can be dangerous on the track and he is can also be very fun to watch. But again, he is a FELON...Just like Clifford Adoptante (drugs) Mike Healy (robbery), and J-Law (too many to list) etc.

What part of FELONY do you little punks not understand? Who cares if it was a prank. It was a FELONY. Now, tell me again how I am being a racist?

Maybe you should go back and relearn how to structure sentences and use correct capitals and punctuation.

If you had a son that raced with this reckless idiot and he was taken out and hurt by him you'd change your mind. Sore losers just cry about losing and play the blame game. Try to say that isn't true and ask yourself how RC would've handled losing that race last year.

Mike, sorry for venting a bit at you. My comment was made late at night after a long day of working on the puter trying to rebuild my business that Obama has killed. :)

We are in the same age bracket and have seen many people and probably some friends make stupid mistakes, just like some we have probably made ourselves. I think the reason people do not let this issue go is because so many of the Bubba defenders just don't seem to get it at all. Instead of saying something about him owning up and manning up about his actions (both on and off the track) they attack people that do not bow at the alter of Bubba and call them racists, or they use the new code word for racist, which appears to now be "Redneck". I got news for everyone...Motocross is a redneck sport and if you really do not like rednecks, go play golf or tennis.

Mike, as far as your comment about Bayle goes, I think he brought a lot of the negative stuff on himself just like Pourcel does, but other French riders like Vuiliimen, and Roncada didn't have those issues at all. Just like Bayle, and Pourcel (whom I both like) Bubba has brought the wrath of the fans on himself. The Bubba trolls just don't seem to understand anything about accountability for your actions. If you think he needs to be held accountable, you are a racist. Just like if you say you hate Obama and what his policies are doing to this country you are a racist.

I have news for the race baiters out there, Obama won with 54% of the vote and only 13% of the American population is black. So how many non black people did it take voting for Obama to win the election? 98% of the black population voted for Obama simply because he was black. American is not a racist nation, unless you count the black racism shown in the last presidential election. Your arguments of racism are dead. Now drop it and look at facts.

Troy, you are 100% right on the money!

Well, thanks for the entertaining read there y'all. It is amazing how much courage can be displayed behind a keyboard.

Personally, I'm indifferent to James Stewart the person. I've talked to people who claim to know him and they say he and the fam are arrogant but not in an over the top way.

I'm a mild and relatively new fan of Super and Moto X, and for me I like to watch the races Stewart participates in more than other races due to entertainment value. The fact that he gets people so fired up is kind of puzzling to me.

Our legal/justice system is so completely out of whack in this country. Unfortunately I don't think there is a viable way to fix it. The way some of you type felony in all caps here makes me laugh. How much money, time and effort does our wonderful country waste pursuing victimless felonies? I'm not saying what James Stewart did was OK, but to depict this guy as some of you have for what he did is insane. Stupid mistake and he will pay for it. End of story for me.

I showed up here tonight hoping to hear about Mr. Stewart's immediate riding future, and instead I experienced this page of garbage. Mostly garbage, anyway. I wish some of you would spend a small percentage of the energy you spent here being hateful to try to do something positive. I know it is a lot to ask, but my gosh.

By the way, I hear James may be making a move to Suzuki? Anyone else hear that?

Someone also told me he submitted an entry to the Budds Creek race....hope that's true.

For my own selfish purposes, I hope he gets out there and rides soon. Like I said above....win, lose or wreck, the races are more fun to watch when Bubba is out there.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

@older white guy, I can see how a relatively new fan of the sport has a hard time understanding why some of us are just tired of Bubba's face. He's definitely a great rider and is very entertaining. If you could've seen the way he treated Chad Reed when they were riding 125 bikes, or the numerous times he almost ended RC's career by riding over his head, you might not like him very much either. I'm sure he'll make it back and disappoint you like he's been doing the rest of us for years. Just be patient and keep your eyes open.
