here's a wake up call. When a rider, (durham ) brake checks, yes, brake checks, another rider beautifully and this rider is named bam bam barcia then it is not only news worthy. It is moto required. It's a move that doesn't happen often, but the kids must know about. come on now RacerX, first the swan and now this?
Ryan Sipes 36-38. What gives?
I had the same question...where's J-Law? lol...lemme guess, didn't qualify?
@English14, Sipes went down pretty hard in the first turn of Moto 1, got going almost a lap down....I dont think he lined up for Moto 2.
Baggett!!! Holy smokes batman! Tha kid was on it in the second moto...did you see him pick his pace up after he gat around Rattray? And they were WAY infront of 4th...too early in the season to tell but some guys are going to need to get their but in gear
CHAD REED!? Awesome Ride! Stewie probably feels like an ass for sitting out knowing how him and RC used to drop Reed outdoors like an anchor!! Now look...goes to show what you can do when you try...
We have not seen the last of RV2...that was just a warm up for him. Dungy looked solid as usual...
For the people who said RV would “wax” everyone, I am glad you are wrong. This means we will hopefully have an exciting MX season, just like 2011 SX (sans Stewart).
Nothing would be worse than a MX season with RV waxing everyone. Interest is best when you have different winners each weekend and the major players are all in the mix. Would even be nice to see a few surprise winners.
Windham likely won’t win the Title but the guy is amazing. At his age and riding like he does against young and healthy talent - incredible.
I saw RV at hangtown and he looked sick but he did have the fastest lap time in practice and the first moto he just did not have the stamina to hold it. I am not saying he will wax Dungey and Reed but he is definately faster. His KX was not set up as good for the track either because he has not raced outdoor in 2 years.
He will not win all the motos or races but soon his top speed is going to show up big time and he will have the most wins.
Yeah, Sipes went down in moto 1 and busted his wrist and didnt line up for moto 2.
J-Law was a 'no-show' and everyone surrounding him was really quiete about his whereabouts. The whole Durham/ Barcia ordeal was cool if anything. Yeah kinda dirty but Barcia is a dirty rider! As much as i like him and i think he's awesome he is agressive, but it's cool and even cooler when someone steps up and does it back. Especially a rider like Durham who's really underated but has a lot of potential if he got the right programme behind him. I've said before and i'll say it again to all Stewart fans - He is irrelevant! Our sport doesnt need him. All he does is take a few guys out when he gets out of control that spices up the points chase. In chance of an actual championshup he isnt significant. I mean, when was the last time he even got close to winning a championship? This weekend showed that this is going to be an awesome year! Even better, when guys like Pourcel and Kdub get their bikes perfected and the likes of Canard and Grant return. The main points of the weekend are that: Bagget is on it now he's back on his Kawasaki's and outdoors, Musquin and Barcia need to up their game and so do the Rockstar suzuki guys.. In the 450's Reedy's no joke! He wants this and maybe more than ever. Also Pourcel who? He should be up the front soon, but he's not quite there yet on this bike. Also Alessi is on it again this year, if he comes back at Freestone-where he's been good in the past he could show that he's also a contender. It's just going to be awesome!
@ BESTY 72,, You said " Musquin and Barcia need to up their game."
Musquin came from dead last to 6th in the 2nd moto. He is also coming off knee surgery. I also hard that Alessi maybe out for 1 month..
Reed, RV, and Dungey battled close and they all rode clean respecting each other the way racing should be. They know its non productive to intentionally interfere or take out someone. On the other hand none of these guys are going to let someone run over them either. This should be great racing this summer and I hope everyone stays healthy.
dont know where this brake checking thing happened on the track, however, everytime i hear that someone got break checked i think....... why are you following in the same rut??? its great for the series that Reed won the opener, i think that Villopoto and Dungey will pull away from Reed after a few more rounds. but Reed knows consistancy wins championships. great start
@JonR290 don't forget RV was SICK and has not had much time on the bike, Give him a few races and I bet he is the man to beat. Will he win them all?? No, but I think he will be the best over all.
RV's bike looked like a pogo stick out there! Dungey has the best handling bike for sure hands down and then Reeds Honda looks really good this year also. Maybe thats why Windham agreed to ride the first few rounds. Hangtowns track is Nasty always has been!
Hey motocross mike, on some turns you need to be in a rut otherwise you lose time. There is a reason that rut is so deep, want to guess why? Brake checking is a punk move its best to keep moving forward, however there are paybacks to addess sometimes.
Barcia dropping that wheel & ensuing handstand was more harmful to his results than any brake check......regardless, Durham is now on #17's "people to kill" list.
Short, get a 450 or get left behind. Why does KTM think it's great business to show their bikes blowing up & getting smoked? This ain't the G.P.'s.....WAKE UP!!
Kinda looks like same old, same old in the 250's, everybody vs PC.
While it's far too early to start counting points, Reed & Dungey showed the doubters the reports of their demise were greatly exagerated.
Reed & Dungeys bikes looked the most settled in the rough to me. While this is no suprise with Dungey, Reed getting a sweet setup in such a short amount of time is more credit to him & his team. What can't these guys do?
@BillC. I know sometimes you do not have a lot of love for the Dunge. We all agree he is way too nice in SX and not aggressive enough.
Outdoors is totally different. You can pass a guy outdoors in a way you can’t with SX due to so many varying lines. In MX, you do not need to rail a guy in a corner or run him high like you do in SX. As a result, I think Dungey is better outdoors than in SX.
By the way, who the heck is Jason Lawrence? That name sounds vaguely familiar………oh yeah, he delivered my pizza last night.
Great weekend, alot of great racing. Dungey looked pretty good, Reed looked real good. And what about Bagget?? It shows that his huge win in Daytona was just a sign of things to come. Pourcel struggled, and he did nothing but practice outdoors all winter, but he may be still trying to dial in a faily new ride, who knows. Musquin will be alright, he will get better results when he gets into riding shape, he did have knee surgery recently. I look for RV to get a win in the next few weeks, if not in Texas, then the next one. Just my guess.
And Charlie Mullins still holding the points lead off road, awesome.
Hey bd200,, did you happen to hear what Emig said about the Yamaha 450 in during the 2nd moto ?? Like we all said but you, not all bikes are the same..
I am still a bit surprised CR took the overall. What a ride from him! RD was fly’n, but still seems to lack that killer instinct. Did he try and change up his podium speech after moto 2? Too bad for all the RV diehards who expected a 24-0 season. Even worse for the Alessi camp; that endo was awful.
mxmofo- i would waste my time with bd200.... he is one of those liberals, u know, the kind that need the gov around to change their diapers ( plus buy the diapers, and make sure the people selling the diapers dont actually make on profit om em... that would be evil, to make a profit and all).
hahahaha... good point ...
Now my son Jason said he could place top 10 on that sweet Honda of Reeds. RV looked like he was riding a Brama bull in parts of the track it needs some setup done. Don't think this will happen in a week but when it does its "momma there goes that man". Gotta laugh at that KTM350 is like taking a PW50 to the 65 class. Dungey and Reed looked fantastic and Baggett was the star of the day. I offer this advise to the 250 boys, look what you have to look forward to from now on!
@JonR290, No dislike of the dunge, I said in the other thread he looked GREAT this weekend and even told the RV24-0 guys they were nuts last week because RD and Reed will win some because there real fast. This will be good. I still think RV will take it but it will be a war. Was shocked to hear RD say he got tired though!! Whats up with that??
jimbo- please refer to JonR290 comment on passing outdoors. i probably havent been around the sport as long as you, but, i have been told to not follow so many times its insane. I think its safe to say Barcia made a mistake and should not have followed Duham in the same rut.
Barcia is a punk IMO, Did any of you see the clip on the inside moto show where he kicked the guy wile taking off?? I hope he does not make top 5 for the year. He faded hard in the first moto too I loved it too!!
You can get pogo sticks with better suspension than Barcia's bike. In fact, all the Geico bikes looked like they missed the mark on set up. Conversly, the PC bikes were graceful and tracking straight in even the nastiest braking bumps. It was obvious who did their homework.
What a surprise. No J-FLAW!! Who would have guessed that? Oh yeah, I did. Guess I was right about Stephen Hawkings being a bigger threat.
@betsy72 To answer your question , when was the last time Stewart was in a title hunt ....HHMMMM . About a Month Ago . Remember !!
@betsy 72 The Stewarts are so relevant to our sport , and the fans Love them , you must be new to Moto. or Ignorant to Statistics , James is Third on the all time win list ,MC , thats Mc Grath in case you dont know , and Ricky Carmichael, are the only two riders in the history of the sport , THATS A LONG TIME ... To have better Stats. That makes James pretty Relevant to the Sport ... Do your Homework >>>>>>>>>> Post when you have more Knowledge !!
stewart went 24 -0 2nd guy to do so other than rc, granted james only did it once but,,,look @ the rest of the field that youse all are luven and 2 hate on james soo bad that ya bash him even when he is not even doin the outdoors c'mon take the blinders off,,800 already crashed himself out of it,22 will pull out with a belly ache(once #1 start 2 smoke him) and it will come down to rd and rv,,
@Mike Oh Yeah ....24 & 0 .. some of these people need to do there homework ..
people will always bag on the great ones hell no one liked r.c when he started handing it mgrath then mcgrath bowed out gacefully while he was still on top, james will never get the credit he should. james cartwheels and gets up and finishes REED GETS A BELLY ACHE QUITS THE SERIES and he can do no wrong that is who we can do without a quitter. because he wasnt riding the way he thouht he was suppossed to be riding
MXMike, Next time you watch a motocross race you will see the top riders take the same rut if its the best line, you change to a different line when you want to set up a pass dude. If you got behind a top rider and did not follow them after half a lap you would too far back to even think of passing. If there is a good sized rut get in it or lose time simple as that.
jimbo- i get what your saying, but when i think, Barcia and Durham. i know DD is good and fast but i think Barcia is better and faster. therefore i think he messed up by following DD. like i said i didnt see the corner it happened in but if im Barcia and im behind DD im going everywhere he isnt cause i know im faster. and if he is that close to his back tire to be break checked than i gotta say it was a bad line choice by Barcia.
You guys complaining about Reed quitting the seies with Epstien-Barr, Stewie has quit the series more times than he has finished the series. I wouldnt use that excuse on Reed. And when Stewie went 24-0, I dont think Reed even lined up for a moto, he was supercross only, But its an amazing accomplishment either way.
I don't know if anyone here cares, but I do, cause I am a Swede.
18. Calle Aspegren (26-17) Hon SWE
25. Fredrik Noren (22-21) Hon SWE
When did that happen last?
These two guys might have more coming.
