If JS wins the last 2 RV needs a 2nd and a 3rd to win this. He better get a start or JS could win this thing!! I think RD and Reed are out of it because I don't see either of them winning out and they need to win both + have RV get worce than 2nd or beat RV by 2 spots for RD and 2spots at one and 3 at the other for Reed. so IMO its between RV and JS because JS has the speed and starts to win out. I still hope RV holds on but it will be close!!

BillC.. One way to look at it.. However.. i still genuinely believe.. RV is in the best position to win.. He seems confident in the post race intwerviews... So all he needs is to finish ahead of reed & Dungey.. Stewie is bound to crash again...
And.. RV can also have a good start.. And that's it... However, RV is now doing the maths.. He rode great the last race.. Where he is playing it safe and yet is fast!
I am really bummed that TC41 is out.. he was the real wildcard in these last races.. I hope he will be back on time for the outdoors! So far, he had a great SX season.. And he will be a real title contender in 2012!!! Honda made the best move by signing him up!

LongRod wrote: 8:17am April 18, 2011

TC41 out helps RV2 because that is one last rider that can contend for a win or place ahead of RV2. RV2 doesn't look like he has the confidence he had the first 8 races of the year. If Stewart keeps it on 2 wheels he will win the championship. That is a pretty big "if" this year.

Great ride by Bubba...Nice crash by Reed, lucky he didn't lose some ribs on that one...that front wheel gave him a kidney punch....

OK. I know Emig didn't notice although he spent a lot of time talking about it. Did anyone notice the dude in pink was wearing Team Hurricane gear from that fabulous movie I was in , Winners Take All?....AWESOME....Bad Boy Billy Robinson will be proud.

With 2 races to go only one rider has control of his destiny and we know it is Ryan Villopoto. There will be a lot of talk about the what if's but all the what if's are racing incidents with the exception of James Stewart. If James hadn't jacked around with Chad Reed in Atlanta after they went down together and got passed by Reed and Dungey with 2 turns to go Stewart would be 5 points back instead of 9 points and would also be in control of his destiny but because of it he is not. If Villopoto wants to win the championship he doesn't have to win but depending on who wins he needs to get second. For Stewart to win he has to win and hope Villopoto does no better then 3rd. But I'll bet Stewart is kicking himself in the but for not keeping his cool in Atlanta.

Profile Picture
slarveson wrote: 10:38am April 18, 2011

Mark,
If stewart wouldn't have jacked around with reed in atlanta then he would've finished third ahead of reed instead of fourth but RV and RD were already too far ahead to pass so he would've only made up 1 or 2 points (from fourth to third) so it still would've helped his chances now but not 5 points right? Unless you mean that he should have let reed take the spot and settled for second (instead of running into him and taking them both down) but only stewart knows if he could have let it off because it looks like he might not have seen him until it was too late because it was a total take out/dirty move by reed.

Mark Schaaf.. Exactly.. RV is in the best position to win.. And.. He will win it. He's confident.. And he doesn't need to win all the races.. just make sure he's on the box.
LongRod... Euh... RV2 is confident my friend... Look at the last race?? He had a bad start.. Due to some bad luck.. he manages to come back to the front... Tricky conditions and he rode smart! RV2 will be the SX champ 2011!!!

BillC wrote: 10:42am April 18, 2011

Didierlotsyeng Yes RV is in the best position because he has a 7 point lead but IF JS wins the last 2 RV better do better then he has been doing, 3rd and 4th are not going to cut it. I said a few weeks back that if JS won the last 4 he would win the title and I still think he would. JS seems like the only one who could win from the back right now. He is so fast the first few laps wile the others are not showing that right now. IF Reed and RD start in front of RV he will have a hard time passing them it seems to me Reed, RD and RV are about the same speed right now and JS is a tic ahead and has been nailing the starts. I am still pulling for RV but starting to think JS will pull this off if he does not crash. Funny the last 2 weeks the tracks have been very hard and JS made no mistakes, RD crashed twise this week, Reed once and RV once.... man this is fun!! This week off is going to kill me!!!

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 10:46am April 18, 2011

@slarveson JS lost 4 points in Atlanta, He could have had 2nd but wile he was "waiting" for Reed RD went bay as well as Reed in the last 2 corners. RV was way ahead of RD.

I agree that this week off is going to take forever! Im sure the riders could really use it. Twelve more days until the next event!

Acejas wrote: 11:22am April 18, 2011

You guys, I know it's fun to "if" Atlanta but we wouldn't have seen the same results throughout the season due to the butterfly effect. James could've swept up to now, he could've wadded up big time, but we'll never know. The points are the way they are and we can only guess at whats to come.

Trend Killer wrote: 12:16pm April 18, 2011

I thought the races were pretty good....On a track like that, there was still some good passing going on. Got to love how Reed seems to try and take Bubba out any chance he gets. Bubba backed off and Reed still took him high....Oh well, Bubba smoked him down the straight anyway and road a great race.....Hats off to K-Dub....and a good charge from RV starting way back after teeter tottering on the tuff blocks...Dungey looked squirelly and those last few laps Reed almost crashed a few times.....cant wait to see the lap times...I think RV will have the fastest laptimes....but we'll see....nice to see the points get even tighter.....

Profile Picture
Redbeard 65 wrote: 12:23pm April 18, 2011

To many " IF's" to count this year for sure.....If not for the Jacksonville DNF's for Stewart and Villomoto, this series would be down to those two only....I like the way the series is coming down to the wire....Bubba just might pull this off....he is riding better, smoother and faster than the other 3...RD and Reed keep hitting the ground....RV just needs to get a top 5 start the last two races and he can make it happen I think......RV can beat Dungey and Reed if it comes down to it and he is starting from the back of the pack lately....i see RV winning the title...Bubba will win the last 2 races and will get 2nd in points....

JS Was HANDS DOWN the fastest, his first 6 laps where in the 52's some low 52's, NO ONE else EVER got into the 52's. RV's best was 1 sec slower than JS'S.

Profile Picture
Acejas wrote: 1:10pm April 18, 2011

There is absolutely no question in my mind that James is and will always be the fastest guy out there until he retires. He'll win most titles and get the most wins. He can only be beat when the others accept this and play the consistancy card instead, and hope James stays inconsistant. And since I always go for the underdog I never root for him. Even now, as far back as he is I can't root for him since he's still a threat. Can't root RV either since he's been leading the whole series pretty much. Great kid though. Hopefully Reed or Dungey can do it because they are and always will be the underdogs.

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 1:16pm April 18, 2011

@Acejas I don't think JS will pass MC for the most wins. A few years back I said he would no problem but he missed 2 season's so I don't think so now. He still needs 30 more wins and he is what 25 now. Thats a tall order now. to many fast guys. But I do agree with ya on his speed, He is the fastest guy on any given track on any givin day IMO. Does not always win but if my life was on the line and had to pick the guy who could turn the fastest lap I pick JS EVERTIME!!!

JS is the fastest man to hit the dirt.....it is just a matter of pressure, he will be stressed for the points and the win and will auger himself into the dirt riding over his head.
I really like RV and was rooting for him since the first race but I think that he is not pushing hard enough...just 2 or 3 more points right now and I would say that he had it sewn up but he is short those 2 or 3 points and the title is still open.
RD may win it but if I was betting...my money is still on CR22...he has been the most consistant out there...not by much but still the most consistant.

Profile Picture
mxmofo wrote: 5:41pm April 18, 2011

jim adams,,, so you dont think that JS was under any pressure these last two rounds ??? I beg to differ .... It would seem to me that he is the one right now thats handling the pressure the best.. He's won the last two, right ??

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 5:48pm April 18, 2011

Thats right Mofo, he won and the others keep crashing now, Reed crashed, RV crashed and RD crashed Twice In Seattle!! Also jim adams Reed needs to make up 9 points on RV to win it. How is he going to do that unless RV has a Real bad race??If Reed get 2nd and RV get 4th at the last 2 RV still wins It will be hard for Reed to pull it of without something happening to RV.

Coming to class...doing home work? LOL you guys do have humor. Been racing and watching MX since 1970...what brand diapers were ou in then? Yes Stewart was under pressure the past 2 races and yes he did win....my point is that he will be under even more pressure in the last 2 and that he doesn't handle constant pressure well as proven in the past. His riding over his head to try to win or get the lead will stand up and bite him again...the odds are on my side.
OTOH, EVERYONE of the other contenders have been more consistent than him. If he holds it together and wins this championship then he DEFINITELY deserves it!...I just can't see if happening...his past does reflect this outcome.
RD has been consistent, RV has been there when he needs to be but CR22 has been the most consistent all season long and you can't count that out. Is he a long shot?...yes , but less of a long shot than JS.

Kids?......you guys are funny!

Profile Picture
mxmofo wrote: 10:11am April 19, 2011

jim adams,, my point is JS is undr pressure right now, and he's handling it the bst so far. This is only the SECOND year for RD and RV, so they dont have much history yet, but RV did crash out last year, right ? And Reed has never beaten JS straight up.

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 10:24am April 19, 2011

Also JS battled with RC with a lot of pressure!! Maybe Reed is cracking under the pressure jim adams, He crashed with 1 lap to go!! Wile JS on probley the hardest track all year rode flawless. I say Rv has the most pressure at this point because the others have nothing to lose so to speak, Go for wins because they NEED them. JS proved the last two weeks that Reed can't run with him so UNLESS JS crashes out I can see him winning out very easy. I just hope RV can nail down a 2nd and a 3rd to win it by 1 point over JS.

Reed has had problems on the last lap the last couple races. He is in panick mode to me. And RV2 is blowing every start the last several weeks, it seems like the pressure of a long season is getting to everyone except Dungey, the one who used to crack under pressure early in his career. Or was that J-Law getting into his head?. haha!!
