Jacksonville First Practice Update
Saturday, March 19, 2011 | 2:50 PMIt's hot here in Florida this afternoon--springtime is nearly here, but it sure seems like a summer day in Jacksonville. It's so hot that they had to re water the track a few times after the free practice.
The track is technical, with steep jumps and a few jump combos that are as easier to overjump that underjump. A few of the jumps are hard to jump for the 250 riders, but even when Justin Barcia and Malcolm Stewart figured out a way to go triple on to a table like the 450s do, it didn't even help them make up much time.
Ryan Sipes was fastest in Lites practice--again--with a 45.9. Next came Wilson 46.2, then Barcia with a 46.5, Lemoine with a 46.7 and Gannon Audette with a 47.1
In the Supercross class James Stewart ran a 44.383, which was, um, quite a bit faster than everyone else. Ryan Dungey 45.162, Trey Canard 45.4, Kevin Windham 45.8 and Chad Reed 45.9 landed in the top five. Next came RV2 45.9, Brayton 46.4, Short 46.6, Millsaps 46.72 and Stroupe 46.79.
Another practice begins at 4 p.m. Stay here for updates.

Check out WHEN DAYLIGHT BREAKS
in our Latest issue of Racer X available now. When the lights go off on supercross and racing hits the daylight with the launch of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, everyone gets to start over. Page 110.

Seriously, what is it going to take to get these guys to build a track with lap times that are worth attending? Why would anyone drop $50/ticket +outrageous food, drink, and parking prices to watch a 15 minute race?
Supercross is turing out to be quite sad indeed.
Sound like the Jacksonville SX Track will provide some awesome racing tonight, even with the short lap times!
My Crew is heading out now (in shorts & t-shirts; gotta LOVE the FLA!) to catch the 2nd practice, cruise the pits, and check-out the MANY "tan, toned and ready" hot J-Ville beaches girls! Wish you were here!
That would be pretty cool if the stewart brothers won. Malcolms a good kid and fast.
I am very jealous, moose ! enjoy the fun !

lap times are way too short..
Stop complaining, down here in Australia the laptimes WERE almost 15 minutes or this stupid one on one races ????????????????
maaaan i wish i could be there, its called eating n drinking in the car when they're prepping the track, ruffin it son!
Go Sipes...awesome seeing you last Sunday after your win, hanging out with us fellow Kentuckians at HSBMX! Thanks for the tube!
This sucks....no live coverage tonight. Whats on speed some stupid garage challenge or the best of barratt jackson. Cover it live speed!!!!
I agree with a lot of people, 15 minutes for pros, what a joke! I raced for years as lowly expert and we had to do 20 minutes. Professional athletes come on! Paying fans should be complaining about it. Have two moto's or at least one 30 minute race. I stopped going to the supercross races, it's just not worth the money.
Another five minutes would mean a LOT more racing with different outcomes for sure! I go to at least one or two SX's each year and feel slighted by the actual track time yet I continue to fork out the loot each year.
Where is Izzi? Is he hurt?
What happened to Villopoto in the qualifying moto? It says he's OUT! DNF!
Villopoto must be injured. He finished 8th in the LCQ! He didn't qualify for the main! He drops 25 points! If Stewart wins tonight, they're neck and neck!
Is it a setup? Is Villopoto so sure he can win this series that he'll drop 25 just to make it exciting? I hate it that Villopoto lost all those points. This is the most exciting series in a while though, and losing all those points only makes it the neck and neck battle that lives up to the 2011 season.
Stewart crashed on lap 1 and is OUT!
Could Stewart be so confident in his ability to win the series that he will give back Villopoto's "gift" of 25 points? What an amazing series!!!
