Christian Craig Injury Update
Monday, January 24, 2011 | 6:50 PM
TLD Race Shop - Corona, CA- Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda's Christian Craig injured his knee while leading the heat race at the L.A. round this past weekend. We just got word today that the injury is not as bad as originally thought.
Christian tore the patella tendon from the bone. He is having surgery to reattach it and is expected to be back on the bike in 6-8 weeks.
Following the race in Los Angeles, Christian had this to say: "I ended up hole shotting the heat race, and somebody crossed over on me when I was in the air. I landed on [him] and went down pretty hard. I hurt my knee pretty bad and that ended my night."
"I dont know exactly whats wrong with it yet, but hopefully I'm not off the bike too long. I'm going to work really hard to get back out there as soon as I can."
Look for #144 Christian Craig to be back on the bike for the last couple rounds of Supercross!

Tyla Rattray took him out bad. It wasn't intentional though. Get well soon CC144!
Rattray took out Craig because he was in a hurry to get up front and in the process he injures the guys' knee . I like rough riding but not careless riding , FINE that jughead or make him sit out a race or two .
It may not have been intentional, but Rattray was stupid to cut over like that, on the 1st lap, right in the second corner!
Rattray did not intentionaly hurt Craig. Rattray is not a POS like Josh Hanson is!!! Get well soon Craig
the real POS is Jeff Alessi for taking out Grant. He looked over twice just to make sure he got his front wheel. Rattray was just riding tuff. It happens alot due to adrenaline. Stewey has broken quite a few people off over the years. this looked to me more like a racing incident than a takeout
JAKE CANADA fill in ride!
Um.. how does somebody crossed over on you if you have the holeshot?
bummer for Craig..... hope hes back soon
I'm really bummed for Christian. The kids got heart, I'm hoping he comes back next year and makes a run at the title. "It ain't about fair" - Unforgiven.
christian,
I have to say every week I read something about you and think dude quit playing russian roulette and quit while you are still one peice. I love moto too but you are being called out for a reason.
Yea, kid comes back from a broken back, all smiles, heart of gold. I remember watching his dad, whom should be very proud. Get that knee healed up Christian, you've won the hearts of many and have respect, better than a podium in my opinion. Fanbase + your heart + talent = future podium. Hang in there kiddo.
things happen quickly in racing there are no motives.
Forget Rattray, How GOOD was Hansen`s take out move on whoever it was after the mechanics area!!! That was a classy take out, if there is such a thing. ; ) *I, in no way endorse or encourage take outs / dirty riding. : )
Get well #144!!!
: )
@SAM... apparently you didn't watch the race... or read all of the article... but CC got the holeshot and rattray passed and cut him off while he was in the air causing CC to land on him...
Rattray is a MX2 Champion. He should know better than bust that move. Totally not Craigs fault and he got the raw end of the deal. Rattrays season is done, he got hurt on that move also. I feel bad for Craig because all that he has been though and the former MX2 champion should have been WAY smarter then that. With so much talent on the track, you have to change up your riding alittle bit... it was only a heat race...
Hi Christian! Im writin´ya from Argentina but I ve been followin ur career since the very beginnig and I gotta tell ya that Im impresed the way u recovered from that devastating back injury. Im sure now u will overcome this knee injury and hopefully Imma see u back in the track soon. keep it pinned!
Every one should watch the crash in slow mo. When i first saw it i was like what a ass Tyla is. But if you watch it again Tyla tries to pre jump over the take off of that double. He clipped the take off and got a little bucked which made him go wide. I can bet that was not the plan. Just a bum deal.
Christian if your reading any of this keep your head up,your time will come. You have had a rough start but things will change. Just enjoy every minute of your chance to live your dream. Not many people get the chance. Get well soon.
tyla took him out, Hansens dirty style is rubbing off on his team mates now or what.
It's called racing and I asume most of the people that post here race or have raced the bike deos not alway do what you tell it to do, shit happens and even though sometimes it looks like ilt was a takout move it may not have been planned. Sometimes though we have saw it that way and yes sometimes ilt has been a payback those moves are obvious though. Only the racer knows for sure.
ryan smith shoulda won, if wouldnt have fallin in the heat race he definatly woulda beat cole seely in the main
If any one had finished ahead of cole they would have beaten him in the main, but they didn't.
Rattray, that was BS MOVE! what the hell were u thinkin
@Airtime74... I'm with you dude, I don't think Rattray was trying to do that. He was trying to seat-bounce that triple, and that was the mistake. He should not have tried to do that... But you can see Rattray get a little off line on the face of that jump, the second he left the lip he was heading into CC144's lane. Rattray was being too aggressive, too soon, no question about it, and it lead to a mistake that cost CC144 more than it did him. But it was not a malicious take-out move IMO...
