PrintThe three-rider selection for Team Great Britain has been confirmed for the annual historic and prestigious Motocross of Nations – now entering its 64th edition – due to occur at Thunder Valley, Lakewood in Colorado on September 25th/26th. Over the last few weeks the British line-up has been hit with injury problems affecting availability and now the new look team will head to Denver and be proud to bear the Union Jack and hopefully push for podium contention against thirty-one other countries.
Dean Wilson will ride the MX2 class on his Pro Circuit Kawasaki, Jake Nicholls will enter MX1 on his HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK 350 and Brad Anderson will ride his PAR 450 Honda in the MX Open category.
British Motocross of Nations ACU Team Manager Steve Dixon gives an insight into the selection alterations, the new team and the chance of success for 2010.
"I’m delighted that despite the injury setbacks with Tommy Searle and Shaun Simpson in recent weeks we are still able to have a good solid team," he said. "I spoke to Shaun after he had done well at last weekend’s Grand Prix of Benelux at Lierop and he has shoulder surgery booked in after the Italian round this weekend as this is the earliest he can get it done so as to not lose time for his preparation over the winter. He would also not be able to dedicate time to riding the 450 for the Nations and, by his own admission, the instability of the problem meant that he was too risky to be considered for the team. Tommy’s comeback did not go as planned because he fell again and re-injured the nerve in his shoulder, which also ruled him out of the Nations a few weeks ago."
"I feel still we can pull together to push for a podium," he added. "We will need a little luck but the Nations is a special and unique race and many things can happen. We have had bad luck with injuries so maybe it our turn for some fortune. With the right strategy we are aiming for a good overall finish."
"We will work hard to ensure we are prepared and ready to fight hard and both Brad and Jake are very positive and honoured to step in and get this chance to represent their country alongside Dean who has had a great season in USA," he ended.

byrner99, Why?? Hes from Scotland. Its where he was born, raised and learn to ride a dirtbike. He lives in California now, can he ride for the U.S.??

bd200, I think you can say he was raised in Canada as well as being a Canadian citizen. His formative racing years were here. He never seemed to claim to be Scottish while winning here (although that is just my personal observation). So we as Canadians welcomed him and were very proud to see his great results. When the Scottish flag comes up, I just can't help it but feel a sting. He's not a U.S. citizen (remember the border fiasco?) so he can't race for U.S. He raced for Canada last year for crying out loud. We were so pumped to have a kid like him represent Canada but he had to choose and he chose Scotland. Go Canada Go!
