OH NO!! The absolutely unbeatable Marvin Musquin got beat. In both motos. What will DGIZZY do?? I bet he will have some evcuse for him. Did anyone really think Pastrana would not win the speed and style contest?? He is unreal on a dirt bike.

Profile Picture
dgizzy wrote: 11:10am August 2, 2010

No I'm still sticking with him. Everyone has an off day. Besides he is still the champ. Lets just wait till he comes here 2011 and then we'll see. He is good in SX and MX. Im rooting for Canard at MXON but you cant take away from Musquin. He is a mental rider just like Pourcel. He knows he has the field covered why push if you really dont have to.

Hey just realized Lommel was sand track and Cairolli went 1-1. With Alessi its gotta be a problem with Alessi himself or the parts from factory KTM. Remember Cairolli is on a 350 KTM but the parts are supplied by Decali in house with some help from factory. Alessi and David Guaneri are from sr8 factory equipment and they are both struggling. Its hard to say if its the bike or the rider. Cairolli is getting it done for sure.

Yup DEEP sand and a 1-1 for the 350..... Like I have said many times...It's Mike... BRK will disagree. Can't wait to see how Cairolli does at the MXD. agenst RD and JS

Just messing with you alittle Dgizzy. the Des Nations will be awesome. Dont jump the gun there Billc, we dont know if they will pick Stewie yet. But Cairoli is a good rider and it will be exciting anyway.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I really can't wait to see Pourcel on a 450. He makes the Lites class look easy and effortless. It's going to be awesome to see when he has to push to his limits to try and win.

JJ0211, I dont see him really killing the 250 class at the moment. He has struggled some. I think the heat has a big affect on him. But he will have some success of course, he is talented.

Team USA 2010 MXoN: Dungey, Canard and PASTRANA! YEEEAAAHHH! what a stud! That whole speed and style was pretty entertaining to say the least....

Care to bet on JS going bd200?? Here is what I think, JS will kick some a** the next 4 races and be at the MXD. Also I think CP will go 1-1 at the Dilla on the 14th and pretty much end that title race for TC and the rest of the lites guys.... Unless CP blows a motor or something crazy like that...But what are the odds of that happening.......... again?? LOL

Pourcel has what, a 30-40 point lead on the 250 ? Gets in a bunch of effortless, lackluster 2nd place finishes for the remaining eight motos. That adds up to six points a round, four rounds remaining, a 24 point turnaround, Porcel wins the title by what, 10-12 points ? Goes to the des nations healthy and rested. Has a two time W/Champ in his corner and Paulin who won a class at the des Nations last year. Sure gives France a strong team !! We do NOT need Travis riding for US, we need a strong, conditioned rider who can help !!!!!

I cant wait to see if stewie still has it or if Dungey has more in the tank. Dungey hasn't really been pushed as of late. Shorty gets a rocket start but RD knows all he has to do is stay with him and at the halfway mark shorty will fade like Like Emig's holeshots. I dont know if Trey C can handle some of those MXDN guys like Musquin. Know RD will do his part. Not sure if shorty can handle those guys either. think they will eat him up. as for trey. I think he can run top 3 if he keeps it on 2 wheels.

Who says the KTM 350cc is down on power and isn't competitive against the 450cc's???? Tony Cairoli just kicked ass at this past weekend’s round of the World Championships in Lommel Belgium. Lommel is arguably one of the toughest tracks in the world. Not to mention one of the sandiest. Oh yea, he is also leading the World Championship Standings by about 80 points... Mike Alessi, what's your excuse???

sef154 wrote: 8:36pm August 2, 2010

If Canard continues to ride like he has lately, I think he takes the MX2 class at MXdN. The only Americans Musquin has ever beaten are Weimer (on his first trip out of North America) and Osbourne ... oh, and Michael Leib. Not saying he's not fast, but there's no justification for putting him above guys he's never raced. And don't be so sure there are number two (MX3) riders from other countries who are going to come to Colorado and "eat Shorty up." Likewise, don't be so sure Bubba is going to "kick Dungey's ass" ... especially at Unadilla, which Stewart doesn't like. The other side sucks!!!

BTW, pretty sure fancypants was joking about Pastrana. But the guy is freakin' talented!

Profile Picture
dgizzy wrote: 11:50pm August 2, 2010

Sef154 I think Musquin caught up to everyone except stewart at Bercy SX. He beat Josh Hill and Brayton on a 250. Thats exactly why Musquin is a threat for Canard. With pourcel on a 450 with a smooth riding style that could also be scary, dont forget paulin was leading last yrs MXON until he crashed. So France is strong. STEWART domination is coming to an end Just like F1 michael Schumacher. Everything that rises must come down. I say one more yr and Stewie would have to settle for 2nds. Plus he is not that money hungry anymore, he can sit back make a tv show and still count millions. Where is the motivation? Right now he wants to win to shut down Jeff Emigs comments on him. If Dungey or Pourcel dont stop the Stewie train Musquin will. Theres gotta be someone coming. I really thought Barcia would be the one but still the best 3 riders i'd watch ride bcoz of style would be JS, Cairolli and Barcia hands down!!

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 6:10am August 3, 2010

sef154 I believe u are doing the same thing by saying Musquin wont win.... Puting others above him who have never raced him either..NO??... Short FADES way to much for me, This is a 1 race deal so shorts " season long consistency " won't help as much a raw speed IMO.

Profile Picture
sef154 wrote: 9:49am August 3, 2010

First off, dgizzy, I said I THINK Canard will take MX2. To a comment like that of pinned927: "I dont know if Trey C can handle some of those MXDN guys like Musquin," I'm saying, why not? Based on Musquin beating Hill and Brayton at Bercy? (Which by the way is kind of a big arenacross, NOT MX.) My main premise here is that I believe AMA 250 MX is stronger than MX2. Ask Rattray and Searle. And as for Shorty, BillC, who exactly is he fading behind? Townley (MX1, New Zealand)? Metcalfe (probably MX1, Australia, now that Reed is out)? Grant? Regal? Hahn? Sometimes, but they won't be there. (And he's been ahead of them as much or more than behind.) We're talking MX3 here (second best big bike guy from each country), and last year, Tedesco was one of the top MX3 riders, despite being slammed by Philippaerts in his second moto ... and Short is faster overall. Not to mention, there's a lot to be said for pulling the holeshot in that event. This is why I say Andrew will be fine if chosen.

Profile Picture
bd200 wrote: 9:58am August 3, 2010

BILLC, if they choose the Des Nations team at the time they did last year, Stewie wont be there because he hasnt raced yet. if they choose it a few weeks from now, he would have only raced once. Will they choose a rider based on one race?? I dont know. But if he is fast(which he will be) they do know he has several weeks to get in race condition for the Des Nations. I think CP definately will be faster at Unadilla, just because of the break in the schedule letting him rest. I think the hot summer was really taking its toll on him. The break couldnt have come at a better time for CP. Tucbox, everyone knows what Cairolli is doing in Europe. But you also cant believe that a 350cc bike can make the same power as a 450cc bike. Cairoli is a good rider, and the competition isnt that strong in the MX1 class in the GP's. Look where Alessi was at Glen Helen compared the the Nationals. Red Bud proved the bike isnt as strong as the 450's are. Its a great bike, but no 350 is going to be as strong as any 450.

Profile Picture
bd200 wrote: 10:03am August 3, 2010

DGIZZY, read the current issue of Racer X Illustrated. Tyla Rattrey himself gives an interview and says, that the Nationals are tougher and have better racing than the GP's. There you have it. Right from a guy who has raced both. As more evidence, we have 3 former GP champs racing the Nationals in the 250 class. They are all seasoned veterens who would already be in the 450 class if they raced their careers here. And none of them have won a National title yet. CP is on the verge, but the reinging champ isnt there to defend his title. That shows me which series is tougher. So dont be so quick to think Musquin is going to come here and win every moto. He is very good, I dont doubt that. But you act like he is a God or something. He still has to rpove something to me in a whole season at the Nationals.

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 10:35am August 3, 2010

SEF154 it does not matter who Shorty if fading behind, The fact is he is fading. He should not be IMO. I give him credit though, He has stepped it up IMO, He has pushed harder than I have seen him do in the past. Maybe thats why he is fading?? Either way He would do very well at the MXD but I still think JS would do better but we will see soon enough.... Well not soon enough but u know what I mean. A few friends my Bro and I are riding to Dilla and Southwick.. CAN'T WAIT!! Also BD200 I think Rodger D has as much time as he needs to pick the team this year, its here so not much needs to be done so He could wait till the last Nat to pick if he wants

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 10:35am August 3, 2010

bd200 Alessi also look very good at the first National witch was the week before the GP so you can't take his 1 GP race and say the competition isnt that strong in the MX1 because he has been all down hill sence the GP. Considering Alessi knows the track VERY WELL I would say he did not do to well at the GP even though he got 2nd... The other guys have never seen the track so he should have won IMO

Profile Picture
sef154 wrote: 12:50pm August 3, 2010

AMA vs. MXGP is an argument that can't be decided unequivocally. But bd200 is right about the former GP riders (actually two champs and one "vice-champ") and their experiences in both series. Townley is a former GP champ as well. Ken De Dycker, sixth in the MX1 points, had 8-11 moto finishes at Hangtown. DeSalle and DeReuver have raced here in the past two years (the latter in sand, his specialty) and had one good moto and one not-so-good. (DeReuver pulled out from exhaustion.) With all due respect, I don't think Osbourne gets a sniff of the podium in AMA 250s. BillC, recently Shorty has faded to ... second ... third.... Not exactly dropping the anchor. BTW, you better not be on the other side at 'dilla, because you know ... the other side sucks!

Profile Picture
BillC wrote: 1:49pm August 3, 2010

Yes he has only lost a few spots but I am talking about lap times and what not, RD runs say 2:11 ALL moto, Short will run 2:11 but by the end he is running 2:16's thats all I am sayin. I would figure you to be on the "other" side Sef LOL. What year did you first go to the Dilla sef? It was 1985 for me, The place was NUT'S back then. Bonfires, Fireworks, Fights, Cars flipped and burned chicks with there tops off.... Crazy place back then. 1987 the MXD was there... that was great. I remember the first time there, Dude has a new Chevy in the pond stuck and got people mad so they were throughing rocks at him and the truck, Then 15 min later there helpin get it out. People shootin firworks at him too, I turn around and who is standing there watchin?? RJ!!! We wrere shocked!! Lots of good times there and never got hurt so that was good too. LOL

My first year at Unadilla was '77. My favorite, Marty Smith, beat the Hurricane in the 500 National. I rode my XL350 there with only a permit. Oops! The next year I started camping out; the biggest party I've ever been to! The '87 MXdN was a muddy mess, and it was awesome the way Hannah, RJ and Wardy came from behind to win it! A LOT of great memories.
