Travis Pastrana Wins Moto X Freestyle
Thursday, July 29, 2010 | 11:41 PMLos Angeles, Calif. - Moto X legend Travis Pastrana pulled out every trick as he impressed the judges and brought the fans to their feet when he took the gold medal in the Moto X Freestyle Final at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Thursday.
"This is a great start to the X Games," said Pastrana. "Out of the four events I am competing in, this is the last one I expected to win."
As he entered his third run in the final, Pastrana had the score which would bring him gold but that didn't stop him from giving the crowd an exciting finish. At times standing up and waving to the crowd, he smoothly executed the double backflip, a notable trick of his that earned him gold in Moto X Best Trick in 2006.
"When I saw the course, I felt that it really favored me," Pastrana added. "It was a lot of fun, especially the wall rides, and I knew that the only way to beat everyone else was to bring back the double backflip."
In his X Games debut, New Zealand native Levi Sherwood took home the silver medal, with Nate Adams of Glendale, Ariz., rounding out the top three. This is Adams' sixth Freestyle medal, his ninth overall.

TP is just so stinkin talented on a dirt bike! I wish he could have stayed on the mx scene for a few more years as I think if he could have had at least one injury free season it may have been a start to an ecxellent career. Although, the kid has done well for himself regardless! those little mini flips he does are off the hook!
I cannot believe Pastrana pulled another double-back-flip.....when he didn't even need to... The man is just amazing on a dirtbike.... those little 1st gear back flips are ridiculous....
Pastrana has 199 problems but the flip ain't 1!!! The GOAT of FMX period.
Travis is the man... bottom line. I am a huge fan - both of him and Adams. But did it seem to anyone else that the FMX was a little weak this year?
Yeah, it did seem weak this year, every competitor did pretty much the same run over and over. Plus I think having it a night adds to the excitement. That stadium is so huge that it never looks full, at night you can't see all the empty seats. I used to get scared watching Travis but he has been riding like this for so long, he has gotten consistent with it, kinda like RC, after while of riding on the edge they just own it.
Sherwood had a much better run than pastranas stock warm up run with dated tricks. Its a shame they took it away from that kid just casue who pastrana is. X games has ALWAYS had problems playing favorites though. Of course though pastrana would have won anyways because he was saving the double back. But still.
