Kevin Windham Added to Honda Red Bull Racing Team
Thursday, July 1, 2010 | 5:11 PMTorrance, CA: American Honda announces today that Kevin Windham will be added to the Honda Red Bull Racing team in place of Davi Millsaps. Millsaps was injured during the Budds Creek, MD, AMA Motocross race on June 19, and the timing of his return is still to be determined.
At 32 years of age, Windham enjoyed one of his strongest seasons ever during the 2010 Supercross series, finishing the year in the runner-up spot. He climbed the podium eight times, and posted two consecutive race wins in Seattle and Salt Lake City.
"I’m really excited about this opportunity to fill in for Davi until he’s healthy and ready to race again," said Windham. "As I said earlier this year, I had no intentions of racing the full Motocross season, but it will be great to get back on the bike and fill in for a few races. I want to thank my GEICO Powersports Honda team for supporting me in this effort, and of course Honda Red Bull Racing for giving me this opportunity to team with Andrew Short and Ashley Fiolek. This should be a lot of fun."
Windham will begin racing in round seven held at the Spring Creek event on July 17 in Millville, MN, and stay on board until Millsaps recovers from his injuries and returns to the Honda Red Bull Racing team.

SIIIIIICK!!!
Hell Yes!
Made my summer! c'mon K Dub, let"s get one on top of the podium, what do ya say????
Cool, I say no fancypants. But nice to see him out there
K Dub, if you happen to read this, I'm going to Red Bud this weekend, could you start there instead of Millville?
Get in shape. Get mentally ready. Then do what you do best! And stay injury-free so you and the Geico team come out swingin' at A1. This is definitely good news!
Yeeeoooow!!! Look out boys - KDUB is a coming!
"About f-in time"... he has the speed, and no worries about a championship, KDub, just go ride!
Way to go Kevin ! Outdoor MX needs the elite guys support and on the line. See you at Pala ! Jim M Carlsbad CA
heII yeah!!! I logged on here hoping to read the Rev Up, and instead I got this great news. Sorry JoJo, if it makes you feel any better, I will be at Millville!!!
If KW had trained and tested since the beginning of the season, he'd be making Milsaps look bad anyway.
This is by far one of the smartest moves any of the factory teams have made in a long time! Sure as hell going to mix things up!! Way to go K-Dub
yes i always wanted him to do outdoors he needs to if he trains and tests he will do good hope he can race for the rest of the season
Ah, oh. Is this the beginning of the end for DM18? Stay tuned...
KOOL! K-DUB KOOL. Dave O.
It would've been awesome to see him at RREEEDDDD BBBUUUUDDDDDD!!!
Good news, May be It will be the last year to watch him riding. Good luck k-dub
Giv'em Hell Kevin!
all i have to say is UNADILLA...go kw14, you are a legend in this sport
this just made my summer!!! see you at 'Shougal K-Dub!
this is awesome
Windham's bad ass !!! MXDN 2010 ?
Awesome, i am going to have go watch a race live..
LET'S GO KDUB!!!!!! maybe he'll get the spot next year for supercross...he does deserve it since he was 2nd in the points for 2 of the past 3 supercross seasons. i don't get it. not trying to hate on shorty or millsaps but windham has delivered wins and consistent top 5s no matter what the condition, snow, mud, ponds in daytona, the guy is clutch. and every season he is still stuck on a support team. he deserves a ride over anyone in the business. he is one of the greatest guys you could have on a team. end of story
One of my dreams come true!! Windham riding outdoors once again!!! Do you know how many people will be cheering for this guy??? That will be a new hype. What's next? Stewart coming back from the realities??? KW for president again. !!!!!
Windham riding for factory Honda at Unadilla, just out to have fun racing, could be a force. I may make the trek to New York this year, since I know he isn't too keen on my beloved Southwick.
YESSSS!!! Too bad for Davi, but this is a great opportunity for Kevin. Let's go K-Dub!!!
KW please teach Shorty how to climb that last podium step! His finest hour could be back at Lakewood this fall!!!!!! I'm starting the 29 for MXoN Team bandwagon right now.
who do you think red bull honda will pick up next year?
Sooooooo STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The outdoors just got way better
My money's on Honda making a push for Canard & frenchie. Canard seems to be a seamless transition (Geico pedigree), CP on the other hand, who knows? The Yamaha support teams throw a huge wrench into the mix. Who is the premier Yama team, L&M? JGR? Star? Valli? Big S has RD (both of 'em) and I don't see any competitive talent w/ RD peacefully co existing, Kawie has RV (for now), Honda, Yamaha & KTM remain BIG question marks. What about Weimer?
Awesome news to see the beloved K-Dub outdoors!! I just hope he rides for fun and doesn't put too much pressure on himself.....or pay attention to some of the fan expectations. I don't see him podium-ing let alone winning , but stranger things have happened. I just hope he can run close to top 5 consistently. Maybe he has MXoN on his mind? I think Short will be back with Honda next year, Canard moves up and they try backing the Brinks truck up to Pourcel's house. I think he stays at Kawasaki though. I also think next year JGR adds another big name. Suzuki is quite happy with that one 20-year old.
Millsaps Honda days are done. Canard and RV gonna be on Hondas, Pourcel, reed on green team. I know Dungey resinged with makita. Not sure if Stroupe or Weimer getting the 450 ride on yellow. Pourcels dad rans a KX team and thats where sebastien Pourcel rides so I dont see Pourcel leaving green team. they been on Green forever and the relationship is strong and they'll take CP over injured RV anyday.
Hopefully Windham can put 2 motos 2gether.
I argree with BKR, on the MXD team and wining guys?? Come the guy is a great guy but I really don't see that. Could it?? I guess but there are a lot of fast guys there to beat.
I read an interview elsewhere and he stated the only thing he's ridden since SX is a wakeboard, but he has been training for a marathon. He knows the competition is fierce out there with guys like Townley, Metcalfe, Alessi, Regal, and even Reed that weren't in SX with him. Plus the races are twice as long and in the heat. Will be great to see him out there though!
That's great news! Good luck KDUB! As for Davey Millsaps, he lost a kidney. That is very a very serious injury. I think he's a great rider and he was able to win some Supercross races in his career. Racing motocross with 1 kidney is very risky. I think he might retire and if he does, I think everybody should respect his decision.
I am stoked we will get to see KW back outdoors for a handful of races! Realistically speaking though, I think a top 10 finish will be good for him considering the competition and his time away from racing outdoors.
Sweet.... K-Dub back where be belongs .... on an MX track....
Awesome news!
love to see him smoke shorty. That would make honda look bad. Shorty and mudflaps have been their bread and butter. I hope K'dub gives all honda riders a "ride clinic"
Right on! Watch out for KDub at Washougal!
Now we will see what he really has got in the tank. I doubt he will do well, but maybe they will let him do a stoppie for the crowd ;)
Throughout Kevins career, he has always done best when there hasnt been pressure. I doubt that he can pull a win off, in fact, I HIGHLY doubt that, but I can see a podium finish before the end of the season. If the report about Millsaps is correct, then I dont see him being on a bike anytime soon. K-Dub will certainly have the fan power out there though!
