Your Collection: '84 Honda QR50 Minimoto

  • The 1984 Honda QR50 Minimoto
This week's collection comes from Mick Varsava of The Great White North. Have something cool to share? Submit a piece from your collection and be entered to win a free Racer X t-shirt. You will be notified via e-mail if you are the winner! Please include your shirt size.

The 1984 QR50 Minimoto was Honda's answer to the Yamaha PW50. The bike was sold in Canada for 1983 and 1984 only. I am not aware of this model ever being sold in the U.S. These are really sharp because the colour scheme is the same as the Bailey / Johnson era bikes. The tech info is: 2-stroke, 50cc, injected, throttle limiter, single shock, automatic and shaft drive. This one is original (not restored), has less than 1 hour on it and still has the owner's manual with it. It has been on display the rest of the time and runs like new.

Wow! Those were the days. I had one in 1986, raced it and won AZ state championship. Went all the way to Ponca City and raced. Loretta's didn't let me race it because there weren't over 300 of them in the US or something like that. Had to borrow a Pw50 that had a broken start switch, so when i fell i had to find a stick on the ground to push up to start position..bum deal. Would love to buy one for my kid but can't find one anywhere. If you sell it email me!
