McFarlane has Troy Racing in Contention for Another Lites Title

Thursday, July 27, 2006 | 4:58 AM

Australian rookie sensation within one point of third after 7 of 12 rounds!

VALENCIA, Ca – Andrew McFarlane moved up yet another position against the most talented field of 250cc 4-stroke riders in the world on Sunday, continuing his steady climb towards the top of the standings. The 2005 Vice-World Champion made it look easy as he ran near the front of the ultra-competitive AMA “Lites” class all day long, pounding out consistently fast laps on his Troy Racing Yamaha YZ250F. The Newport Beach, California resident tallied a pair of 5th place moto finishes in the Toyota Trucks AMA Pro Motocross National at Thunder Valley MX Park, in Lakewood, Colorado; good enough for 4th overall on the day.

McFarlane’s Troy Racing teammate, Brett Metcalfe, DNF’d the first moto after going down hard. The speedy Aussie recovered from a poor start in race two to finish 8th and remains in sixth place in the Toyota AMA Motocross Lites Championship series point standings. Teammate Matt Walker scored another top ten moto finish and is well within the top twenty in points with five rounds remaining in the twelve race series. The Toyota AMA Motocross Championship, presented by FMF, heads to Washougal, Washington on July 30.

Troy Racing thanks the following sponsors for their support: Yamaha Motor Corp., Boost Mobile, FLY Racing, Etnies, FMF, Alpinestars, Enzo Suspension, Pirelli, Renthal, Scott USA, M2R, UNI Filter, N-Style, Mechanix Wear, Acerbis, 661/Sunline.
