Cody Cooper raced his first full AMA Motocross Championship Series in 2008 on a privateer motorcycle. He earned eight top-10 overall finishes, and two overall podium finishes to finish fifth overall in the series. Cooper, who started riding at age four, has won two Lites Titles in New Zealand (2003 and 2005), a Lites Title in Australia (2004), and three Oceania Titles in a row, two in the Lites class and one in the premier division prior to coming to the U.S. to race full-time in 2008.
2008
· Riding a privateer motorcycle Cooper amassed eight top-10 finishes, two overall podium finishes, and three individual podium moto finishes to earn fifth in the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.
2007
· In 2007 Cody competed in both the Australian supercross and motocross series in the 450 class. For the motocross series Cody began a new training program and committed himself to full time racing. He began to see the benefits of his new program, finishing the season with three wins before he headed to Florida to start to train for the last two rounds of the AMA Motocross Championship Series. Living and training with fellow countryman Ben Townley at Ricky Carmichael's Florida compound, Cody raced the last two rounds of the AMA Motocross Championship. At the Texas round, Cody came home with a fifth overall. He was on his way to another top-5 at the final Glen Helen round before a mechanical failure in the second moto left him with an 11th overall. Cody returned to Florida to continue training with the intent of racing the entire 2008 AMA Motocross Championship Series.
2006
· Cody raced the Australian supercross and motocross series in the 450 division. He finished fifth in the supercross series. In the motocross series Cody finished third overall. After the season ended, Cody represented his county for the second time at the annual Motocross of Nations helping his country earn a solid 3rd overall position.
