Reason For Being
The news that MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado entered for the first few rounds of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship added yet another storyline to what’s already shaping up as a very interesting season. Prado, a Spaniard, surprised many when he announced his plans to try his hand at AMA Supercross, as it’s just not a thing that MXGP Champions have done much over the years. The conventional wisdom is that the learning curve can be very steep, as supercross just isn’t that popular in Europe. And because he’s an MXGP World Champion, he has to go straight to the 450SX class. No matter, in the glimpses we saw of him on the GasGas factory test track he looked smooth and confident. Soon enough, we will know if he really was.
