Blogandt from the Las Vegas press box

Practice is complete and everyone is alive and well. No take outs, no run ins, no trash talk. Everything was normal--at least between the championship contenders, James Stewart and Chad Reed. Stewart clocked the fastest lap time of the second practice session, a 1:04.7 to Reed's 1:05.5. Kevin Windham and Ryan Villopoto were next fastest.

The track here is crazy as always, with a start outside the building (and yes, it's grass in the first turn, Daytona fans) a huge straight and a ski jump with yard-line markers to determine who can jump the furthest. A few riders approached 40 yards (!) on the leap, but at that speed and distance, it's hard to make the next corner.

The track is of course hard packed, and it features two big whoop sections, each one tougher than any I've seen this year.

In the Lites class, East and West practice separate, Dungey ran into the 1:06s to lead the West and Pourcel was fastest of the East with a 1:08--but remember they practice seperate.

That's it, we're going on the air. Anything can happen tonight, as they say, and with that fast, grassy first turn and mega-fast straight into the stadium, you have to be carefull.

Remember www.supercrossonline.com for our SX LIve! presented by Parts Unlimited webcast and aso live TV on SPEED. Forget coming here--there's not a ticket left, just the way it should be.
