When Racer X first offered me my blog, they told me I could write about anything I want, so today I am taking advantage of that. They might regret ever agreeing to it. I know this news is a little old – it did happen in July – but I was extremely busy with the race season, and since then I have been stuck at home with internet so slow there was no way it would load all of my pictures.

So, I am sure you can guess by the pictures that I threw my dog a birthday party. Before you start thinking I am some sort of crazy lady, let me explain. My schedule is extremely busy, and during the month of July, I found myself at home in Michigan for only one week. That week just happened to be Frankie, my Great Dane’s, birthday (July 18th). My birthday was the following week, but I spent it at Washougal away from all of my friends and family. So I thought it would be nice to see all of my relatives while I was home, and since people have already started calling me ‘old,’ I don’t really care to celebrate my birthdays anymore. Frankie’s birthday became a nice excuse to invite everyone over whom I never get to see.

I had to go all out with a dog cake, and of course we had to have hot dogs on the menu. I let him eat his own cake and even invited his other dog friend from obedience school. The saddest part is that since he is still a puppy (just turned a year old) he had to go in the kennel while my guests ate because he is still learning manners. He was big enough to take the food right off your plate and he has grown about 20 pounds since then. He weighs only about 150 lbs right now and still has two more years left to grow. My plan is to put him into training to be a therapy dog. That way he can get a vest and when he travels with me he can go into any public establishment. I will never have to be afraid to travel alone again.
