PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Officials with AMA Racing have penalized Supercross-licensed rider Jason Lawrence for his on-track actions at the Jacksonville round of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.

In on-track altercations between himself and fellow Supercross competitor Broc Hepler, Lawrence violated section 5.14, paragraph "a," of the 2009 AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship rulebook, which states "no rider may ride in such a manner as to endanger life or limb of other riders..."

In consideration of this violation of the 2009 AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship rulebook and in recognition of Lawrence's current probationary status, the following penalties will be assessed:
  • Suspension from competition in the remainder of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship season. This suspension will end May 3, 2009.
  • $10,000 fine.
  • Lawrence's probationary status with AMA Racing will be extended by a period of 12 months beginning May 4, 2009, and ending on May 3, 2010.
These penalties follow, and are in addition to, sanctions previously ordered by Federation International de Motocyclisme (FIM) Race Director John M. Gallagher.
