LOS ANGELES, CA – Team San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart, the reigning 2009 AMA/FIM Supercross Champion, will not be racing in San Diego this weekend. Last week on Friday, January 29th, an evaluation of an MRI showed Stewart had a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand. He underwent immediate surgery, that day, to have it repaired and be on the road to recovery right away. James returned to his home state of Florida for post-surgery therapy immediately following the procedure.

“It’s been 5 days since my surgery and my wrist is feeling a lot better. Right now I’m following Doctors orders so I can get back on the track racing as soon as possible. I want to be out there as soon as I can ride without pain. It was no fun racing Phoenix and Anaheim 2 this way.” There is no exact date when Stewart will return to the race track, but if progress continues as is, he and his Team are hopeful that date will be very soon.

In the meantime, Stewart’s Team San Manuel Yamaha teammate, Josh Hill, who is ranked 2nd in the 2010 AMA/FIM Monster Energy Supercross Series, has been training and testing hard all week as he prepares to take to the track at Round 5 of the series in San Diego, in pursuit of the series Championship points lead.
