SPOKANE, WA. (October 17, 2008) – MotoConcepts Racing (MCRMX) announced today that they have signed current Australian Woodstock Thor Honda rider Daniel McCoy, for 2009. McCoy, a 23 year old from Camden Australia, will join current European Supercross leader Ben Coisy, and Americans Jeff Alessi and Cole Siebler for the 2009 AMA Supercross and Motocross series.
“We are excited to have these talented riders from France, Australia, and the United States join our team.” said team owner Mike Genova. “These are all very competitive riders who will represent our sponsors well on and off the track.”
Daniel McCoy began racing professionally in 2003 with instant success in the Lites class, finishing in the top three for the Australian Supercross and fourth in the Australian Motocross Championship. McCoy narrowly missed clinching last year’s Australian Pro Lites Supercross Championship by just one point, to finish in second place.
"To move into what many regard as the toughest two series in the world is great for Daniel and something he has always aimed for.” said his Manager Paul Shahin. “His best riding is still to come, His biggest attribute other than his natural ability is his mental toughness, and I think that he will fit in well straight away.”
McCoy is currently racing in the SuperX Australian Supercross Championships and will leave for the USA when his current Woodstock Thor Honda commitments finish later this year. Look for Daniel McCoy’s American Supercross debut with the MCRMX team January 3rd in Anaheim.

1 BUCHANAN, MI – After a long, hot, competition-filled summer of MX activity at Michigan’s premier motocross facility – RedBud – the riders and families throughout the multi-state region that regularly compete at the famed circuit get to cut loose and have some added fun this weekend, Oct. 18-19, at the annual RedBud Grass Race, sponsored by Throttle Jockey.
“The Grass Race is traditionally a time to put aside the fierce competitions of the summer and have some fun. Some guys bring every bike they own, old and new, and ride as many classes as they can,” said RedBud’s Tim Ritchie. “We keep it light and make sure there’s something fun for everyone in the family to get involved with.”
Signaling that the onset of winter is right around the corner for the southwestern Michigan track, the Grass Race has long been one of the final big gatherings for competitors not only from Michigan, but also many of the surrounding states (Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin). Serpentining through the orchard on the back portion of the property – where fans of the RedBud MX National park and walk through the pro pits – the Grass Race melds both European-like GP racing with traditional American motocross as it uses both the naturally, untouched terrain and the existing pro MX track. “My dad (Gene) started the grass race back in the day out of necessity on a super muddy day, and now it’s a season-ending tradition. Every year it’s a different layout, so it’s new for everybody. This year we’re going up the ski jump for the finish line,” Ritchie explained.
“We’ve been racing at RedBud since 1978 so the old school feel of the Grass Race is right up our alley,” said Throttle Jockey’s Matt Davis of he and his brother/business partner, Robert. “That kind of terrain is what we grew up riding. So when we first heard about it years ago we had to go race it. We fell in love with the event and approached the Ritchie family about becoming the title sponsor. They loved the idea and we have been growing the event every year. The list of sponsors and support is great on top of the event just being plain fun, especially XR halftime races and people showing up in costume - it’s an absolute blast!”
This year's Suzuki Fall Classic weekend, the conclusion of the "Monster Moto Six-Pack" series, fell victim to the rains of Hurricane Ike, so the Suzuki contingencies and Monster swag will carry over to Sunday's grass race.
Locally, all the top riders from the great lakes region will boot up, along with a couple generations of LaRoccos (Mike & Ryder), frequent RedBud flyer/announcer Larry Witmer, who will no doubt - between his own motos - take over the P/A duties and talk up the locals like only he can. And, if you happen to sign up and race – and get beat by a neon pumpkin helmet – remember that was no ordinary neon pumpkin helmet, but in fact one worn by the ageless Grass Race legend, Connie Feist!
Here’s some quick facts on the race. All the important info is available on www.redbudmx.com
· Gates open Friday at 6 p.m.
· Saturday is Open Riding on the pro track (12 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
· Saturday night Trick-or-Treating in the pits
· Sunday Grass Race, featuring the XR 75/80 Championships, Single shock & Twin shock
· Sunday’s program includes classes for modern bikes, ATVs and vintage bikes.
· Practice starts at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
RedBud supports the sport of motocross and has since 1972! The region's most prestigious amateur events and Round Six of the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship are held in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Michigan. A state with an affinity for off-road recreational vehicle use, RedBud owns the bragging rights to the highest attended U.S. motocross race year after year. Just the right soil mix, lots of passing and the BIGGEST jump on the circuit (LaRocco’s Leap), the track provides for some terribly exciting motocross racing. Definitely a top motocross destination in a region that loves its motorsports.

I know that this will not be of interest to all of you, but if you know someone who it will forward it to them.
As many of you may know, there is an effort underway by a local individual (Brett Satterthwaite), to build a world class indoor MX facility in the Ogden area (West Weber). It is being met with some resistance and a show of support from the local MX community would go a long way to providing additional riding opportunities in our area. The details of the facility and a public hearing to discuss the facility, are contained in the e-mail below:
Below is some info on the indoor mx track that we are getting approval on in western WeberCounty.
EdgePlex MX LLC
Proposed Building location
9000 West 900 South
Ogden, UT
Site and Building Specs:
16 acre site (have lease option on additional 14 acres)
90,000 SF total building
73,000 SF riding area
35' Minimum ceiling height at edge of building
4,500 SF indoor pit area
6,000 SF spectator seating area
5,500 SF Lounge, restrooms, concessions, check in, offices
600 SF Merchandise store
The facility is designed for indoor motocross events year round. To provide the best riding environment throughout the year the facility will include ventilation to remove exhaust fumes, heating for winter months and evaporative cooling units for summer months.
We will offer open practices during the weekdays, times will be determined based on rider demand. We plan on being open everyday, with the hours of 7 am to 9 pm, rider turnout will dictate if these times are feasible. When large rider turnout occurs practices will be split into bike size and riding ability to accommodate all riders. We will hold several race events throughout the year primarily during the winter months. With Edgeplex MX we are no longer bound by seasons or daylight. This is a completely new concept for this area; we are looking forward to hearing your ideas and comments.
We go before the Weber County Planning Commission October 14, 2008, at 4:30 pm for our Conditional Use Permit. One of the conditions of this permit is to demonstrate that the proposed use is a benefit to the surrounding community. At the last meeting there were several residents that lived near (if over a mile away is near) the facility that voiced their opposition, the commission came away with the feeling that this would not be a benefit to the community. We are hoping to get those that would support a facility as this to voice their support by either emailing the commission or if time permits attending the planning commission meeting.

Blountville, TN - The 2008 THOR UNITED STATES MEGA SERIES presented by DUNLOP comes to a close at Muddy Creek Raceway on October 17-18-19. The series is one of America’s largest amateur motocross series featuring some of the nation’s top talent in the youth and amateur classes plus the nation’s fastest up and coming pros. This event was named in SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Magazine as one of “Tennessee’s Top Sporting Events”.
The series finale, the 21st annual SUZUKI TOP GUN SHOWDOWN, is always one of the season’s largest with 1100 to 1400 riders from 20 to 25 states. The unique event seeds the series “top 5” into the main event and pits them against the fastest who come in just for this event. Every year some of the nation’s fastest up and coming pro riders use this event to work on their speed as they transition from amateur racing to pro racing. As far back as Damon Bradshaw dominating in 1989, then Ricky Carmichael made this his second ever pro race as he and Mike Brown had a epic battle that locals still talk about. Last year it was PJ Larsen and Zach Osborne splitting pro class wins.
Since the first of March the THOR United States Mega Series has tracked across five states and it all comes down to this “MAIN EVENT” for the 2008 racing season! North Carolina rider Brad Modjewski is leading the series points in both pro classes, but he still has to perform well at the SUZUKI TOP GUN SHOWDOWN in order to win his first ever Mega Series title. Georgia’s Auston Albers is within striking distance in the Lites A class and Jon Boruff can win the title in the Motocross A class if Modjewski isn’t up to top speed.
There will be 39 different classes of racers, pee wees to the pros will be competing in Sunday’s “MAIN EVENT”. Saturday is a qualifier day to get the field narrowed down to a full gate of 40 riders in each class.
Muddy Creek Raceway – Exit #63 off I-81 and follow the signs 3 miles.
Saturday & Sunday = Racing at 9:00am - RAIN or SHINE.
